I heard a good theory in Joseph Anderson’s critique of GOW 2018 he theorized that when he stabbed himself with the blade of Olympus it killed him, thus releasing hope back into the world but also restoring his godhood as it was still stored in the blade so he survived

It couldn’t possibly be kratos the novelization even states that kratos thinks to himself “who is that?” When he sees the mural of Atreus and the dead person he’s mourning. It can’t be kratos if he doesn’t recognize himself. Also some of the markings surrounding that mural I believe translate to “false” as in probably not going to happen considering the giants could see the future.

Nope. Kratos met faye after already spending several years in midgard. It's also stated when Faye first sees kratos she attack him with the leviathan axe because she thought he was an enemy but she stopped after realizing that kratos didnt want to fight back. If she knew who kratos was and was the one that ordered the wolves to bring kratos to scandanavia she wouldnt have attacked kratos. In the novel its stated that faye use to leave for several weeks before returning home so those weeks in which she use to leave home probably was when she went and drew the mural in jotunheim. Time in jotunheim moves way faster in jotunheim than it does in other realms and mimir confirms this after you leave jotunheim after spreading fayes ashes.

That he was walking in the woods one day these 2 wolf's showed up with a lady in a cloak then bit him in the leg and forcefully dragged him there against his will. Exactly how I see it. Because he used to "kill" himself the very weapon, that had his "godhood" stored inside since the almost begining of the 2nd game, it got released by the impact back into his body. At least that's my headcanon (and I see not only mine). In the 1st game, he became a god. In the 2nd, he lost his powers by pouring them into the sword, in order to fight the Colossus. In the 3rd game he's still not a god, despite having some new powers (given to him in the previous game + stuff, that he collected). And then suddenly he comes to the Norse lands and is a god again, even made a half god-half giant son. So where did his godhood came from? Well the Blade of Olympus has to be the answer.

Problem with the same world theory: Yggdrasil the world tree is what binds the 9 realms of reality together. It is classically interpreted as the physical manifestation of spacetime itself. During the battle between Thor and Jormungandr, they break Yggdrasil itself, and it is this action that sends Jormungandr back in time. It's this cyclical understanding of time that also _heavily_ influences the Norse understanding of time, fate, and prophesy. The problem here is that the breaking of the raw physical manifestation of a fundamental aspect of physics and reality would have _major_ impacts across the entire universe it takes place in.

Since so many mythologies see the world as something they completely control, the god of war universe most likely treats these world-affecting things as regional. Ragnarok will most likely only affect the Norse part of the world if God of War ever goes to Egypt or something.

A way of looking at it is how the different realms of Norse Mythology work in the game. They are all separate realities but exist simultaneously in the same place. I think the other mythologies work the same way. It's just the separation between them is far greater. They are not only separated like parallel universes but spatially geographically in different locations. I remember one of Mimir's stories he talks about a giant accidentally WALKING from Jotanheim to Midgard and then getting killed by Thor. If giants can simply walk from one realm to another seemingly without any magical means then surely Kratos can travel from Greece to Scandinavia and transition from one mythology to another.

@@slenderbear2234 Realms are not synonymous with other mythologies. The fact that she mentions other realms, but not anything bigger, proves that she genuinely had no idea where he was from. Perhaps she somehow didn't know about Tyr's mythology travel, or she didn't believe it. The thing that proves my theory for me, is the imagery of Tyr. He doesn't use a boat when he travels between realms, but he did for travelling between mythologies. Also, he is depicted travelling through the stars, beyond the world tree (Which literally holds the entire world and the nine realms together, and subsequently encompass the entire world.)

I just finished the audiobook and when Kratos is mentioning the curse put on himself and the blades he says something to the effect of “I tried dropping them in the calm waters of the ocean, i got shipwrecked later on and washed up on the shore where the blades wrre waiting for me.” My idea is that he washed up in the land of the norse. Then he met the wolves and the woman while exploring this new land and they dragged him farther inland.

The curse was placed on him the first time he killed himself after killing ares. It was given to him as a 'gift', as part of his upgrade package from mortal to god. That gift was the inability to kill himself. A bit like baldur, but not as cruel. However, what this means is, kratos cannot lose against foes impossible for him to win against, because fighting them would be suicide, and suicide cannot kill kratos. Kratos also cannot die to those who are no match for him, as allowing himself to lose would also be suicide. Only someone equally matched can kill kratos. And my hunch is that that person is loki.

FAN THEORY 🔥 ❗ Things I'd like to see in the next god of war, the blade of olympus and the god of war armor ready for the ragnarok, I could only imagine this, At the beginning of the god of war 5, Kratos will die after a hard battle with Thor, without his true power he cannot beat and protect himself so well like in the days when he killed the god of olympus, After the battle, Atreus will be kidnapped and brainwashed to think he's Loki, Kratos will be taken by Athena into the greek underworld, not In Asgard or Helheim because she wants to keep him as a prisoner there, Kratos will go mad after he will be informed that Atreus was kidnapped, destroying his prison, He will escape the Greek underworld once more, but he will not leave greek without blade of olympus that store his godly power from god of war 2, still stuck in the blade, but the blade is empty, so brok who helped kratos this time to go back to the Norse realm, told him that the light of Alfheim will be strong enough to awaken the blade so can kratos take back his powers, back on this way, he also found the god of war armor, collected by a group of mercenaries after his defeat in gow 2, kratos will take the broken armor with him, Sindri and Brok will repair the armor as kratos will go back to the alfheim to absorb the light so he can gain the powers of god of war back, after doing so, kratos equipped like this staying on the top of the world serpent like he did with gaia in gow 3, and when the snake is ready to bite and launch the attack, kratos jumps from the head of the world serpent with all his force into that dragon that have Thor on it, Impaling the heart of the dragon with the blade of olympus with full power!

Yeah the cloaked woman matches the description of the giantess Angrboda from norse mythology, Angrboda(Loki's lover) in norse myth is the mother of Fenrir, Skol and Hati so her being able to control them makes sense on top of the fact that Angrboda in norse myth is the leader of a wolf clan thats in a forest called Ironwood so thats even more reason for her to be able to control the wolves and she's often depicted with a cloak...also side note controlling fenrir and the other two wolves is something she actually did in norse mythology

So ye he is "immortal" in the sense that he has a prolonged life, where he can't kill himself and the only thing which can kill him is another God. I kinda prefer if the different pantheons were in different galaxies because I just don't see how Ares didn't start an all out war between the Greek and Egyptian pantheons when he attacked Egypt, if you were a God and another God from a completely different pantheon attacked your land and followers, this would start an all out war between the two pantheons, that is one reason why I would prefer if the pantheons were in different galaxies but the only true person who knows the answer is Cory Barlog, I kinda wish he would just plainly tweet, "All the pantheons are on the same Earth" or "All the pantheons are in different galaxies"

I think in my opinion Kratos boarded a ship to Scandinavia. At the end of GOW3, the blood trails led to the sea. So perhaps he was just trying to get as far away from Greece as possible, leaving everything behind him and ended up on the shores of Scandinavia, he roamed for a bit until Faye confronted him with her grandsons and had them drag him forth and perhaps that's where their relationship started. I have yet to read the novel but I'm so excited!

I believe the encounter with the wolves was a vision or a dream kratos had which led him to go to the norse realms which is why in the book it said he was dragged there by the wolves while kratos said he landed on the shores of that land. I believe Faye may have given him to Vision to change the events of ragnarok.

I much prefer the one planet theory and the fact that the world is just bigger makes perfect sense. I just can't see Mimir popping in between universes/galaxies to learn all the Greek stories just to be like and then be like alright back to Midgard especially since he was serving Odin if he was traveling like that Odin most certainly would not allow it nor would he allow any of these things remain secret. It's even mentioned that Mimir say a Greek play (the tragedy of the Theban king) technically he said stories like that "get around" which would not happen if it was in another galaxy, however in his next voiceline he also describes how it was played out... I suspect someone told him a little bit about the play as the story got around, he got intrigued and decided to see it for himself while it's possible Tyr traveled to other realms which is also unlikely as you think people in Greece would notice this giant dude just being there and worship him or something which is never stated though still possible, it seems like a weird thing for Tyr to tell Mimir about. Oh yeah I went to see this play in Greece you might like just doesn't seem right for Tyr. It also seems like the weirdest reason for Mimir to be like oh yeah I'll pop to this other galaxy to see this play. I mean it's possible just unlikely especially since Odin would never allow it. Hopefully how it all happened will be explained in another God of War Game maybe one that takes place in another mythology though it'll probably be awhile before we see another

After the battle with Ares Athena gave Kratos two similar blades called Blades of Athena( At the End of GOW1 and whole GOW2 and GOW Ghost of Sparta and after the first encounter with Zeus at GOW3) After that Kratos was attacked by souls of the underworld and the Blades of Athena were badly damaged. As a trust gainer Athena's spirit repaired those blades into the Blades of Exile Do you get it now? No one knows what happend to the Blades of Chaos and how Kratos still had them in God Of War PS4 But one thing's for sure These two blades ARE NOT THE SAME.

I feel like youre wrong. I think the two wolves are in fact "Geri" and "Freki" the personal wolves of Odin. I feel like the stone eagle carving Kratos dies on, might have something to do with it. In mythology, it was believed that the eagle represented the "All Seeing ones" , and a way for all the sky gods to communicate. Who do we know that's All seeing and a Sky God? Odin. Remember hes got the gift of prophecy too, and Mimir says he knows he cant stop Ragnarok, but is trying to swing things in his favor. Odin is also very cocky. He couldnt find Faye, but probably knew of the destruction going on in olympus, just like Mimir did, and sent his wolves after Kratos to bring him here, so that he could have a son with Faye, because she was too powerful for him to take on, but with kratos, odin has home field advantage, and fellow gods such as Baldur, to aid him. As far as odin was concerned, baldur would kill kratos, because Baldur is invincible, and then they can take his son.

It was believed he could sit on his throne in Asgard, go into a trance like state and become any man or creature in Midgard. He would do this to keep an eye on what's going on in Midgard. He has two ravens that fly through the realms each morning and report what they see each night, and Odin would do his own recon.

i'm not sure, we are probably gonna be stuck with another piece of the story that doesn't make much sense but guess it is what it is i think the events go better if it is faye with fallen god first, he came to those shores second (which alot who travelled lived close to the water as a start) and 3rd the wolves drag him further in and meets faye "by chance" lol (i will add i think faye might have had more on her plate to travel with giant wolves to find kratos but i might be reading far too much into it haha) when this attack happened skoll and hati must have been pups, because mimir says thats when odin captured them so must have been such and such time after the attack on kratos but then the question that needs to be asked if it was fenrir, then how was he born without loki and possibly angrboda, is he from a different timeline too? i don't think athena has a hand in this either, makes the least sense my alternate choice would be angrboda, i believe i discovered shes in a place called jarnvidr which is east of midgard where many wolf giants reside (see her shrine), i believe she and faye have worked together in all this, which would make angrboda quite a bit older than atreus by time they meet... but to counter her being the mystery woman, how did angrboda create fenrir (if it is fenrir) without atreus?? some sort of magical birth that doesn't need the other and they just take on being the parent lmao can't wait for cory and his team to answer this and the sleipnir one haha SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!!

Well, since Skold and Hati are children of Fenrir, who is a child of Loki (Atreus), the only way this is possible is time travel, just like how Jormungandr is already full grown in the game, but should not be born jet since Jormungandr is also Loki's child.

One thing that i noticed in god of war 4 is when mimir blew the horn to call world serpent and have a little chit chat with world serpent,after that i forgot when but atreus did ask mimir what the world serpent told him and mimir say the world serpent is familiar with atreus like he have seen atreus before and due to that , mimir did tell a story about world serpent fight with thor that it spined the tree of world it send world serpent back in time before it was born, What i got from this is maybe world serpent really knew what atreus going to become in future, and apart from all of that , I've never been this excited waiting for ragnarok , I've played god of war 4 for many time but after i restarted and try to fully understand while going through every chapter in the game , man this is one of the best story telling game and that's why god of war deserve and award , to captain kuba your content was really good and keep up the good work man !

Thats right, essentially God Of War follows that popular Tv Trope "Its Small on the outside but its much bigger on the inside" and example is the movie Chronicles Of Narnia.....in the movie Narnia is a self contained world that resides within a regular sized wardrope and this is similar to god of war i.e. just like the narnia example, the pantheons are their own self contained realities with their own cosmologies and these self contained realites reside within their respective geopgraphical regions( e.g. Greek pantheon resides in Greece, Norse pantheon reside in Scandanavia etc)....so basically in God Of War on the outside the pantheons appear to be regular sized geographical regions but on the inside they're their own universes with their own cosmologies/realities. So again "Small on the outside but way bigger on the inside" hence why Kratos and mimir can travel to norse pantheon by boat but at the same time......the norse pantheon is described to have its own cosmology and creation story of how the universe began.
