I can't tell you how invaluable your videos have been. I was diagnosed with alopecia a few weeks ago, plus chronic telogen effluvium. I'm still hanging on to my bio hair and using medication, but I don't know how long I'll tolerate it. But I've lost even more hair from the medication, and seeking out alt hair. I binge your videos and they're so informative and easy to follow. Plus you make it look SO GOOD!!

This video was really encouraging...I was seeing lots of videos saying that wigs will only last a few months, let alone six or more! I'm still in the research stage, I haven't actually ordered my first wig yet, and this issue is definitely a part of WHY I haven't yet ordered one. I am a single woman in an expensive area, so I definitely can't afford to be spending hundreds of dollars every few months. Thank you so much!! I love your videos! 🥰

If you still haven't taken the plunge, take advantage of November sales (aka black Friday). I spent time identifying styles I liked, compared care/qualities, selected the color, and even familiarized myself with shipping and return policies. Some of them were on sale then dropped an additional 30%. I felt better about my purchase. If I get that one in and love it, I'll still have time to order another one on sale! 😁

Hiii!!! =) I'm so happy to hear you're interested in the storage video! Here is the link to watch it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHuuqWuva91_hqMsi=Oaci3eTSwYHEWAdD Yes, Simmer does get frizzy and tangled at the ends. Definitely put heat to it, that will help a lot. The refreshing video I did is actually on my Simmer wig, so I would literally do the exact same thing with yours, and add the silicone spray! That should help! Another thing you can do and take some scissors to the ends and make it thinner - anything that looks "broken" you can cut off =)

I have a $20 synthetic wig from Amazon since 2020 and is still the same. Incredible fiber . I wear ot outside on humidity weather. Not every single day but I wear it a lot. I don't wash so often. I let outside on the air. But I have wigs expensive from tiny fibers who last few months without wearing every day.

2 questions please. When do you use the silicone styling spray, in between washings? I’m using synthetic wigs, how do the ear tabs help and make the wig glue less? I’m not finding any purpose other than aligning the wig. Thank you.

I've found that pixie wigs last me the longest, especially if I rotate the wig I wear to keep them fresh. My first wig I ever got, a Winner Large in R4 by Raquel Welch has lasted me since 2017. It's a lot less voluminous and shiny than it was (which stinks) but it still looks great considering it's around seven years old
@natalienash88397 ай бұрын
My synthetic wigs don't last 6 months - no where close. I would say if you get 30 wears out of a synthetic wig - you are lucky. Noriko wigs last 40 to 50 wears. That's it. Some wigs look good while it's breaking down. Stevie by Amore is a good example - it just looks good frizzy. Mellow - so disappointing - it got frizzy in 20 wears. But now it looks like a normal person with frizzy hair...;-).

I totally agree with you. Been wig wearer for 8+ yrs and have never had one last 6 months. I take very good care, use only recommended products and only wash when needed. I have many wigs, so rotate frequently. I have 4 mellow wigs and once they're washed, that's it. It's so tangly and puffed out. Recently buying the "blend" wigs, 70% heat friendly and 30% human and they are better at lasting longer, but are very expensive and need heat regularly.

lucky if you can get three months from Noriko wigs. I now have an Ellie Willie heat friendly.I have to use heated comb after every two wears.

I agree with you. My long wigs get to a point where they need steaming or hot air brushing or dipped in boiling water and combed with a fine tooth comb, and they look and feel great for a few hours. But by the end of the day, they're all clumpy again. So I have to refresh them after every wearing. That would be fine, but I don't like having the clumpy hair 6 hours into my 12-hour shifts at work.

@jennanail29 күн бұрын
@ I leave it in if I am just detangling. I mix it with a bit of water in a spray bottle and use it the same as I would a spray conditioner for natural hair. Start at the ends and work your way up using a wide tooth comb. If I really need to clean the whole thing because the cap is nasty, I rinse out. Leaving it in the cap can cause allergies.

Hi! You can try a wig grip. It looks like a headband and Steph has one on in this vid. It's made of velvet , so when you have the pile going in the right direction, it sort of acts like velcro under your wig. Hope that helps! Sidenote...Steph has a link to one in the description box.

Hi Steph, when you say, "Click on this video right here,"- there isn't a link to the video. Also, I am soooo good to my wigs. Only touching them with just washed hands, combing them out after every use, storing them in their boxes. But the ends are already frizzy and it's not even 6 months. Yikes. And that's with rotating them along with 3 other wigs I have. I will buy the styling spray and use heat on them to see if that helps. :-) Thanks for all your tips.

Hi Steph! Could you please help me find my dream wig! I just bought Bella Vida in honey toast; the color is practically perfect, but the root line and the knots are not bleached, and that incredibly bothers me. Do you know of any synthetic brands that have bleached knots on their brunette colors, not just their blondes???
@WigsWithSteph7 ай бұрын
Hey beauty!!! I totally understand the annoyance with knots… I am the same way. One thing to know though (which is unfortunate with all synthetics) is that knots on synthetic wigs can’t be bleached, so the only way to get those lighter knots on the front is to wear blonde OR find a brunette color that has highlights in it. And then the brand themselves has to put those highlights at the front of the hairline (tie them into the front of the cap) to make those knots “invisible” or light. And unfortunately a lot of synthetics don’t have this, and a lot of brands don’t do this. Raquel Welch is known for having highlights in a lot of her colors and putting those highlights at the front of the hairline on a ton of her styles. Bella Vida is by Raquel Welch, and although I haven't seen the Honey Toast color in person, I believe it would have knots, but the knots should be the light brown color, right? You could try a color that has even lighter highlights if you like that look? But with any synthetic brunette, the only chance of having lighter knots is taking the lightest color on the wig and placing it at the front... I hope that makes sense. Jon Renau also has a ton of brunette colors too, with highlights, and on a lot of his styles he too puts the highlights up at the front. I know it’s SUPER annoying. Synthetics are just different than human hair wigs in that way… at least with human hair, the knots can always be bleached, but unfortunately with synthetics they can’t. So, for example, if you prefer brunette, or darker colors without highlights (if you don’t like highlights), unfortunately there will always be knots

The lace on my simmer RW frayed so badly after only a few months :( Do you have advice on fraying lace?
@WigsWithSteph7 ай бұрын
Hiii ❤️ I’m sorry to hear that about your Simmer wig! I’ve never had a Simmer that frayed, but I have accidentally done a few of the things I’ll list before for you back in my newer wig wearing days that I’m more careful with now, and now I don’t usually have fraying lace to deal with. I hope this helps! :) 1. **Handle with Care:** Be gentle when putting on and taking off the wig to avoid putting unnecessary stress on the lace. 2. **Avoid Excessive Brushing:** Brush the wig gently and avoid tugging or pulling at the lace to prevent damage. Also using the right comb when it’s tangly. 3. **Store Properly:** Store the wig on a wig stand or mannequin head when not in use to maintain its shape and prevent the lace from rubbing against rough surfaces. 4. **Trim Frayed Edges:** If you notice any fraying beginning, it’s best to catch it early, and carefully trim the edges with sharp scissors to prevent it from spreading further. 5. **Cutting Lace At The Start:** sometimes when we first get a wig, we notice that the lace hangs a little lower than we would like, and we usually have an urge to cut it. What I’ve learnt from experience with this is that sometimes by cutting the lace ourselves with a straight edge scissor, this can actually make the lace start to fray because of the way the lace has been made in the first place. It depends on the manufacturer because not all lace is woven the same, and because of this, whenever we cut the lace to begin with, we run the risk of it starting a fray. That’s not to say don’t ever cut your synthetic wig lace, because I do it as well. However, if I didn’t mention it the risk of it fraying from us cutting it, even though I know it exists, I would feel really bad. This is all I can think of for now! I hope it was helpful to you, and I hope it is still early on enough with your Simmer wig that you can cut back that fraying lace and save it ❤️

How soon does the color fade on a human hair wig?
@WigsWithSteph7 ай бұрын
Great question! It can vary depending on factors like the quality of the dye, how often it's worn, exposure to sunlight, and how it's cared for. Generally, you might notice some fading after several weeks to a few months of regular use. If you’re anxious about color change, you could try using color-safe shampoos and conditioners, avoid excessive heat styling, and store the wig properly when not in use. All of this can help prolong the color. Hope this helps 💜
