So, my doctor prescribed me a low dose 7 day treatment of prednisone for swollen glands/neck trouble swallowing for 2 weeks after getting the COVID shot (first one). I started feeling better after the first few days on the 2 pills, but the last 3 days I was only on 1 pill and started to not feel so good again. Now I'm completely finished the 7 days and feel almost as bad as I did when I first started the treatment. When I called to see if I needed a longer treatment or higher dose, the secretary said he said to "let the steroids do there job and give your body time to settle down". I am confused because the treatment is done and it doesn't' feel like the medicine is "doing it's job" anymore.

I have not been diagnosed yet. But I had a pretty bad "MS Hug". My neurologist hospitalized me for a 5-day treatment of 1000 mgs Methylprednisolone per day. He also performed a lumbar puncture to check for MS but results are not ready yet. The second day of treatment I felt much better. I was able to walk better but it is not the case now. I am home and he continue the treatment with Methylprednisolone 20 mgs two in the morning for the first week and reducing the dose gradually. The "MS Hug" has decreased but my legs are very weak, worse than before treatment. I also have cervical instability, scholiosis, shortness of breath, high pulse rate, difficulty swallowing (since November 2022), high blood pressure, even the right vocal cord paralyzed, too!! I had COVID in September 2022. What is going on with me? Is it POTS, MS or what is it, please?? Thanks in advance!!

Hi Dr. Megan - I started prednisone 9 days ago 10 mg for PMR - I am still suffering 16 hrs a day - my Doctor has allowed me to go to 15 mg after 2 days no real difference. I know prednisone is not a healthy drug but , my Doctor is cautious but how much is too much? I have read people receiving 40 mg per day - I am so sore I find it hard to dress myself, to even take the sheets off my body in the morning- getting to a standing position is a challenge and my hands and wrists are also stiff and sore with my current dosage.

Hello, I messaged you before on another video about prednisone and I was prescribed this for my vertigo symptoms which of course didn’t do any good at all. I even tried physical therapy for 2 sessions because at the time I thought I still had vertigo. But when the epley maneuver was gently used on me, nothing happened and there was no spinning sensation or anything. So obviously the vertigo part has dissolved but I’m still suffering from major off balance in my head. I guess I’m still dizzy but not spinning sensation dizzy. I think it’s possible, after doing some more research, that I might be suffering from vestibular neuritis and I don’t know if I spelled that right. As I mentioned earlier, I did 2 sessions of physical therapy for the off balance issues in my head but I honestly felt that the sessions were not helping so I canceled all remaining sessions. At this point, I really don’t know what else to do and I honestly feel it would be a waste of time to talk to my doctor anymore because he will want to attempt to put me on more medication and I’m not going to do that. I guess, unless this condition can work itself out, that I will be suffering from this vestibular disorder for the rest of my life. It’s a damn shame to have to spend the rest of my life with this unfortunate crap and my doctor doesn’t seem to know what the hell to do about it. I guess maybe I will have to eventually go out on disability because I don’t think I can work for many more years with this off balance feeling in my head. I’m sorry for this ranting but I’m just so frustrated having to deal with this with no cure in sight.

Hi Dr. Megan! What was your initial dose of prednsone on your skin issues? How many days where you on prednisone? Tnx!
@PrednisonePharmacist

Hi Jack, I was started on 60 mg initially. Then after a week, they switched me to four days of 40 mg of dexamethasone, which is approximately 225 mg of prednisone. Then they switched me back to pred, and I took it for almost 9 months.

Hi Dr. Megan... I am interested in your opinion... I haven taking Prednisone for 3 months now, lowering dosage each month... however I was told Humira would be better or healthier for me..... I do have AS also...... now I am unsure and insecure???? Help.
@PrednisonePharmacist
@PrednisonePharmacist 4 жыл бұрын
I think Humira is a great alternative to prednisone. It has some side effects, but much much less than prednisone. If I had AS I would definitely use Humira.

I have gout and despite what the instructions says on the bottle I only take 1 pill (20 mg) and it kills the pain after 6 hours. When the gout first strikes it feels like my foot is broken. Also I”ve tested the instructions on the bottle and it still took 6 hours to kill the pain taking 4 pills right off the bat

Started two 20mg doses of prednisone to a severe allergic reaction to medication (full body hives the size of goofballs). I only took 2 doses of the medicine I had a reaction to(Vraylar) and was hoping it’d be out of my system by now. But I’m only on day two of prednisone and haven’t started my 3rd dose. It has helped some of the swelling go down on my chest but I’m still having flare ups and it’s impossible to sleep for longer than 4 hrs at a time. I’ve heard it can take a day to weeks at a time and I hope to god that’s not true. Anyone else have a similar situation?

I was diagnosed with ankle synovitis in both ankles yesterday morning ( some pretty painful inflammation) I started a 12 day taper yesterday at 40 mg for the 1st three days. I woke up this morning with some relief but not as much as I thought I would. Did your experience gradually improve over two days. Did you feel any relief the first day after or boom did it hit you on day two. Any feedback would GREATLY be appreciated.
