No body in Australia will buy a DCS battery now they want to sue Stephan Fischer over his honest reviews.

isn't it only pulling 3amp when compressor is running? Once down to temp it wouldn't be drawing that. You would have to average the 110 amp over 60 hours which is around 1.8 amp for hour constant.

Yeap your right, i was opening and closing the lid regularly and my fridge compressor cycles more often at that temperature, and it consumes 3.3amps average per hour at that setting. This test is by far not scientific or advanced. The main reason i wanted to do this is to just see how long will these batteries will run for. Most of the questions i get asked is “how long will it keep my beers cold or fish frozen.”

@@vesautoelectrics One thing you don't seem to have allowed for is weather. Starting the fridge at 30 is different from starting it at 20, and running through a heatwave is different from a cool change or even winter.

These batteries are apparently okay to mount under a bonnet. Do you have much experience with this type of application? I feel like it only being under warranty for 3 years under the bonnet makes it a hard sell for what feels like new tech and a big price tag

Yeap they are rated for under bonnet use. I have done plenty of these type of installations for customers over the past two years with no known issues, but time will tell. What vehicle are you wanting to install it in?

A few people vouch for them. Definitely very tempting I've got a gu patrol. I've only got a single starting battery atm as I'm needing to replace my aux battery but I'm wanting to run my 40L engel 24/7 and if I'm camping for a weekend I've got a 1000w inverter which I want to use for a rice cooker (because I'm terrible at boiling rice aha) or charging a laptop. A travel buddy is on the cards too, not sure how often I'll use that realistically but the times that I do use it I bet I'll be glad to have it (Will try to use it mostly when driving). All I've this I'm wanting to pair with a 200w solar panel. I've seen people run a similar set up off of an agm but it's interesting to me that an agm can last 3 years, but the dcs 50 amp lithium has the same usable power as a 100 amp agm but can charge much faster which is agms biggest downfall. All that from a battery that's only 1-200 dollars more expensive and has a 3 year under bonnet warranty, even if it dies just after the warranty, the fact it is so competitively priced with the agm means that the extra cost is going towards a lighter set up that can charge much faster. And can potentially last longer than 3 years, might be a good gamble, especially if it dies under 3 years and you get a free replacement aha Keen to hear what you think about a set up like that and if it's sufficient for my needs

Yeap can’t go wrong with a rice cooker! 😉. 110ah lithium set up for your needs is plenty i reckon. Aslong as it gets charge from the patrol and solar when possible. But i have had issues with the diesel GU patrols, the dual battery tray sits really close to the turbo and over time kills batteries. Last one i did we made a heat shield to defect the heat, hopefully does the trick. My customer was replacing his dual battery every year!! I currently have an agm set up in my Triton. 2x 105ah Full river agm batteries in the rear being charged via 120watt solar panel permanently mounted on the roof rack and a projecta dc charger. I have a 15l fridge in the cab thats on 24/7 and charging ports for flash lights for work and i also use a 45l fridge aswell for trips away. Last trip was 2 weeks on the road and the batteries didnt drop below 12.2volts. One fridge being set to freezer. Great set up for now but when these batteries die i will upgrade to just 1 x 110 ah Lithium, has the same capacity/ storage as 2x agms, a fraction of the weight and as you mentioned charges twice as fast!

Thanks for mentioning that the turbo side battery is prone to over heating, having to replace the battery every year is what scares me about under bonnet lithium, I'd much rather get the whole engine bay rewired and make my cranking battery on the passenger side near the turbo as like you want to do, I'd only have the 1 lithium battery under bonnet, weather that's a 50 or 110 amp. If the weather is a bit hit an miss, I'll be glad to have that extra 60 amps though. I just thought with the warranty, if I did become a statistic and get battery failure, the 50 amp is almost the same price as the agm but with a few perks

I think 50ah is on the low side for what you need it to do. especially if you have a cloudy day or two. Always go as big as you can. Is there any space in the back? Maybe in a battery box? Not sure if you have seen it but i have also done a separate video on a dual battery installation using the dcs lithium battery if you wanted to check it out?
