Brad, I have a question, Would you know if I ran two 50Ah batteries with 50 amp BMS each in parallel would that double the BMS amperage or would they still be at 50 amps total for both batteries?? BTW those have to be the sexiest batteries on the market

Thanks for the demo. I suspect a non-inverter AC unit will run out the battery at half the time (2.5 hours or less) using the same setup. It would be nice to see real time since most people buy non-inverters.

I measured the inrush current on my 13.5k roof air conditioner at 2200 watts when plugged into mains power. When I try to run the AC with my 2400 watt Inverter generator, it kills it. I can run the AC just fine on my 5700 watt "job site" generator. I am guessing you'd need at least 3600 watts. With soft start, I know you can run the AC with a 2000i Honda.

Thanx for talking about that type of air conditioners energystar abilities compared to the average air conditioner. Good to know that vulcan knowledge. A battery box that has a removable solar panel battery stabilizer for an outer dermis, maybe velcro attached that folds around the box if to be able to remove the solar panel for placing to get at sunlight if kept inside a vehicle, and or has a thin layer of aerogel between the solar panel and the battery cells if the battery was going to be placed in direct sunlight. Or, skip the solar panel, and create a battery stabilizer that consists of common unrefined nuclear isotopic thorium. Or skip the lithium, skip the sodium ions, and just go full tilt thorium, but in a safest way or not at all, to avoid radiation poisoning and then one does not have to play the saxophone like The Simpsons Bleeding Gums Murphy!

It's a great attempt, but the price of this battery is a bit expensive, and each battery comes with a screen, which seems a bit luxurious. A single Vatrer 200Ah battery only costs $460 and does not require parallel connection

I just switched out my 2 LA batteries with 2 Vatrer 100Ah batteries on my camper. 180 each including tax. Amazon sale. Weight reduction and performance is amazing. I also have 2 solar panels on the roof of my camper. Great Demo on how the LI's perform with an inverter. Inverter would have gave up the ghost in a very short time.

Do if I run a single 200 amp hour battery with a similar inverter and rhe exact same air conditioner, and then set a timer to 3 hours, it should be safe to go to sleep at night right? During the say I'll have solar to keep it charged while running
@johnmills837
@johnmills837 19 күн бұрын
@@jamesolelo4406 Solar won't charge at night. Solar would maintain battery state of charge while running this AC during the day with 800- 1,000watt array and a 60 amp charger. Minimum solar array to charge this battery capacity would be about 300 watts with 5 hr of good sun to charge during the day.
@jamesolelo4406
@jamesolelo4406 18 күн бұрын
@johnmills837 yeah I don't have to much space for panels. Maybe enough for a 400 watt panel alone. I just want to run the ac for maybe 3 hours during the day with the solar, and then run it for a few hours at night til it actually gets cold outside. Maybe 3 hours after the solar cuts off. Will this work? Or do I need to bite the bullet and get a 300 amp hr
@johnmills837
@johnmills837 18 күн бұрын
@@jamesolelo4406 Your problem is not the battery capacity. You have to recharge the energy stored in the battery. If you can not charge with enough solar panels and charge current, batteries will never get topped off. You need more storage and like 100 amp charging with at least 1,200 watts of solar panels for 6hr daily use of this AC. If you run this AC for 3 hrs at night it will discharge the 200ah batteries and will need recharging as fast as possible to be ready for your 3hr use of AC during the day. This AC will need about 60 amps of DC current to make the inverter give 600 watts of 120v AC power to run this AC unit.
@jamesolelo4406
@jamesolelo4406 18 күн бұрын
@johnmills837 only 3 hours will be during the day time because I'm gone all morning and afternoon. Then 3 hours at night. I potentially can install a second 400 panel equating to 800 total. From when the sun comes up til like 430 in the afternoon, maybe 530 as I have daily chores? is that enough recharge the battery for my specific situation?

These "how long will it run" videos never make sense to me. Run time is Capacity/power usage. If you have 2400WH and use an average of 400 watts, you get 6 hours. The thing that really impresses me in this particular video is that you can run that AC on a 1500 Watt inverter. That is a nice little machine. The rooftop AC in my camper is 13500 BTU and the startup kills my 2400 watt inverter generator. I can't wait until I can install a minisplit in my camper. Actually, Your AC is half the cost of the mini split I was planning on using. Would you mind measuring the width of the "gap" where the window goes? The Amazon page only gives overall dimensions.
@jimjr9143

I installed mini splits in My house as i was sick of my horrible ducted central air . Million times better . My electric bill lowered just over $100 per month . Paid $550 including tax for my mini splits each . They have slow start and i also have a setting to reduce power usage . These things barely use power .
@BradCagle
@BradCagle 3 ай бұрын
Yeah, I hear ya. Many know the calculation, but for a lot of folks a demonstration helps them understand. Also many people really don't have the ability to measure the power usage, so they can get an idea of what that might be with these types of videos. Ok that gap between the front part, and back where the window slides through is about 3" the best I can tell (there's a board between mine I cant move ATM) But yeah, these are basically mini-splits that just sit in a window for way less. Thanks!

This was a pointless test with the door open. Roughly 2500wh divided by the roughly 500wh it was consuming would've told you in advance it was going to be roughly five hours. But that's not a real world scenario. Close the door and give the AC a chance to cycle on and off. That's the unpredictable test to find the answer to.
