As an mma fan when I tell you that Francis couldn’t speak a word of English a few years ago, I’m not exaggerating. This guy literally learned an entire new language to progress himself in UFC and career in less than 5 years. Speaks to his mindset and resilience. There are athletes who are in the UFC for 10 years and can’t make a single English sentence. Francis is a different breed of human. His determination is inspiring.

I love this guy. I never fanboy over anyone, but I remember Francis from his first days in the UFC not speaking a word of English and looking scary. In a short time he gets the belt and learns English to fluency, and shows the world what an intelligent, thoughtful and kind man he is. Nothing but respect.

Francis Ngannou’s journey is so inspirational, from working in sand mines in Cameroon as a kid to immigrating to France, with no money, being homeless, training in MMA, becoming a star in the UFC and the Heavyweight champion, then he decided to bet on him self, left the UFC, signed with the PFL and now will be the chairman of PFL Africa. What an amazing human Francis is. From working in the sand mines in Cameroon aged just 10, to the UFC, to heavyweight Champ within the UFC. Knew his worth, so walked away from the UFC, and made more from 1 fight, than he did his entire career in the UFC. Recently lost his son, but continues to fight on. Respect to you, Francis. That's the story of many Africans who have had a dream to fulfill in life, like me as well. Crossing the Mediterranean sea to become a future player of my country (Liberia) and the world. If you succeed fine, the world will hear your story like brother Francis and if you don't succeed you leave down the line. In our continent it's very very hard for us to fulfil our dreams, because some people somewhere has kept us in abject poverty and absolute disarray.

Francis is the man. Great fighter, but more importantly, a great person. The fact that he is a fighter people underestimates how smart he is. No excuses, hard work, and willingness to enjoy the journey. A true champion in life.
