Well that was an exciting adventure! I bet those backwater creeks are loaded with fish when the water is higher! Such a weird year this year with starting out with VERY low water this spring, then torrential rains in June and July, then almost no rain in August and into September! Don't give up on spots like that, just try them at different times of the year and higher water levels! Thanks for bringing us along. Again great shots of the Wisconsin River you must've taken from the boat launch when you got back.

Yeah. I got out the drone at the start and at the end. I’m not going to take it in the yak! Too risky!

I have been fishing that stretch of the river for 40 years. Great fishing at the old railroad and that channel ! We used to walk across the bridge when it was still up and fish that channel and wade across to the island below the main bridge and camp there.

That’d be so cool to camp there. I should try that!

As a relative beginner, I appreciate you making fishing the WI less intimidating! I’ve pondered that same channel on the map but never tried it

It stunk! Don’t go there unless we get a lot of rain!

Salmon season is starting soon! Can’t wait for the videos of that. I’ll be out on the river every day Friday-Sunday!

Good luck when you get out there! I don't think I can put that much time on the river as you, but I hope to get out there a few days.

Another fun float/bike adventure! That's wild that there's that many species in just one section of river there, just shows the biodiversity of the area.

I was disappointed. I thought I could get 10. I’ve caught longnose gar, Shorthead Redhorse, common carp, bowfin, and sauger there before. 7 is good for one morning though.

Even though you didn't it is still impressive to have a body of water that is capable of that many species in it. Closest I'd be to a water body like that would be going on the mighty Mississippi down in the cities.

Where'd you get the fancy graphics of the car/bike/canoe while showing the map? Pretty cool!

I download transparent pictures and then with my editing software I can move those pictures

Man you sure got your workout in, Mr. T!

I certainly did. I wish I had time to do these kind of fishing adventures more often, and I will in a few years, but that also makes me sad. My kids are getting much older. I lost one to college this year, another one leaves next year, and then my youngest only has three years left in college.

How was the bottom of that channel in general? Hardpacked or just mushy? Did you scare up any big birds or general wildlife? I bet they don't see many people in that back area and might startle easily! Fun, but somewhat frustrating trip I'm sure!
@tiefsa3 ай бұрын
Hard packed bottom. Rock or sand. I scared up one Great Blue Heron. I saw an eagle way overhead. Heard deer but didn’t see them. It was really cool back there, but not as fishing friendly as I thought it would be.

I fish the Wisconsin River at least once a week, mainly Castle Rock dam from the shore. Things seem pretty slow for us the past couple two tree weeks. Maybe I need to move spots or try something different? I almost always throw inline spinners
@tiefsa3 ай бұрын
If you put out a setline with a worm on the bottom, there’s no telling what you might catch. You can still cast around with your spinner but have a bell on the other rod

Awesome video Mr.T!! I was wondering what was the deepest depth on the main channel that you've encountered? It looks shallow.
@tiefsa3 ай бұрын
It gets deep 15-20 feet where that RR bridge used to be on the main channel but the current is strong and hard to fish from shore

Nice video. Thanks for addressing a question I thought about regarding your wife, haha. But I'm sure you try to take care of all the things needed at home before going out fishing.

I usually only fish in the morning. This was an all day adventure
