Hey brother I've enjoyed your video . Opening day of trout fishing here in my area is may 22 . For the past few years I've been going camping the day before opening morning and nothing much has changed. I get silly excited like a little kid. Been getting my gear together and marveling at my trout tackle that I've stocked up over the year 😜. Since it's still a couple weeks away I have been watching catch and cook camping videos. I came across your video and it's great thank you.

4 or 5 wt Temple Fork Outfitters fly rod with any reel and Orvis Hydros line is the way to go in my opinion. You’re not breaking the bank but you get great quality. I love the Hydros fly line. Casts like a dream. Usually, it’s best to go mid to premium on the rod, skimp on the reel, and go premium on the fly line. That’s just what I’ve done and it works great

If you like flinging hardware, try Super-Dupers or Kastmasters.super-duper is a bobby-pin kinda shaped lure that zig-zags through the water as does the Kastmaster, and another called a Z-ray. I like the trout and frog colors.They mimic wounded fish/frogs

Man these are incredible fish. One thing, not sure if it's video editing or something but based on the footage all of these are out of water way too long. Trout are super delicate and even if they swim away fine can still die up to 25 hours from one occurrence. Never pay like this but want those beasts to live so someone else (me) can get one that size. Great video and haul though!

Good catch with lure!! I usually use dry flies and then when the fish are not active to dry flies I switch to the streamer that imitates fish rather than nymphs at lakes. Try to sink the streamers at different level of depths of the water and you might catch it easily

Great video. As for the question if it’s a good rod- it did the job. I personally like using fine tackle but yours didn’t hinder you one bit. What you’ll find with top shelf gear is easier casting and low swing weights. Specialized tapers make casting more enjoyable. And the build and materials quality will be much better. Also, they will come with lifetime warranty in case of a break. Plus made in America. If that’s important to you, invest in it. If not, rock what you have. I personally like Scott and Sage rods. But people have caught fish and had a blast doing it for many years on exactly what you have. Do what’s best for you and just get out there. If my budget didn’t allow for better tackle and the money to go fishing I’ll take lower end and getting out any day. Enjoy brother.

We had a small lake full of brookies and browns that spawned every fall. It was a great self sustaining no need to plant fishing lake. Then the woke decided that they only wanted native cutthroats on the mountain. Came in on private property and poisoned all the brookies and beautiful browns. It seems commonsense is not common anymore.
@Brendameiers6869 Жыл бұрын
@@gladegoodrich2297 because the brookies were originally planted by racists for sure.

It’s good to spend more on a rod, but you definitely don’t have to during your 1st or 2nd season. And if you decide to get something nicer, put the money into the rod and fly line, rather than the reel. Again, you don’t need a 400-1000 dollar fly rod during your first few years of fly fishing.
@Cillifishes Жыл бұрын
You obviously don’t know the feeling of a good fly rod, cheap rods are a piece of crap.

What fly rod did you order? I got the Amazon choice (this being my first season fly fishing) and just took a trip to the Appalachian mountains and got on some nice rainbows and browns. They handle several pound fish pretty well. I’d change out the liter and line though.
