As soon as I saw the new Taco at #2 that website immediately lost my respect. How can anyone possible know how reliable a brand new platform is going to be? Given the recent transmission issues and what the Tundra has turned out to be, the new Taco would be dead last for now in my opinion.
@is65664 ай бұрын
They have to predict future based on past, otherwise there would be no list at all because there are new gens,, engines, transmissions, coming out every five years. Every list would be like the Gladiator, not enough data points. You have to handle it with a big grain of salt but past performance has predictive value for future. Up to a point.

@is6566 I understand that, but for the new Taco there’s literally no history to base their predictions on, it’s just straight shilling. What history exactly? Predicative in comparison to what? The old Taco? That’s an entirely different truck! The new Tundra? That ain’t exactly painting a pretty picture is it? It just makes no sense to me why they placed it #2.

A non-rust belt, well maintained Pickup Truck manufactured before 2018 or so, should last a minimum of 20 years. I live in the rustbelt and am driving around in a 2005 Chevy Colorado, I try to keep ahead of the rust but that is nigh impossible, rust, like entropy, will always win out. The truck probably has another 5-7 years left. I'd say I got my moneys worth out of that deal.

Thats bs. Frontier should be one or two on that list. For most reliable.

If this list is based on past models, then the Frontier should be at the top. Many folks bag on it for being an "old" new truck, which makes it VERY proven . Time-tested chassis, classic VQ engine technology, analog comtrols instead of touch screen integration. These things alone should make long term reliability obvious.

Probability of making it to 200,000 miles is a very misleading way to write this. They are tracking for 10 years based on an overall average of how many miles a year per truck model and then they stop. So it really means "how far this truck model is typically driven in 10 years". This is not a rating of reliability. This is also a demographics issue as in what part of the country does this truck mostly sell in, a place with longer distances driven daily or not? They can weight this average any way they like without disclosing how. I dislike all of these websites lists because statistics are akin to lies. Then again, you know this when they outright say they use a proprietary research method also known as envelopes full of $$$ they received. This is basically how climate science works. 😅
