Growing up in the 70s, i had a gun rack over my bed with 3 firearms. I had ammo for all of them in my closet. Most of my friends had their own firearms. Access was NEVER a problem back then. I had never heard of any “mass” shootings (i guess just like the left calls a fetus a clump of cells, any time someone is shot it is a mass being shot). I taught school for 34 years. You are so right!!! I would say such when happenings happen. I would say they never endeavor as to what is happening in the act. Even though I taught 2nd. Mostly. I tried to make children think about their actions. I would say, Do what you know is right “. What really burned me up was they never ask teachers what they see even as young as Kindergarten and first grade. Mental health is needed so much. These mental health professionals need to really care. We don’t need those that are just biding their time. This is very much needed by both teachers and children. Spend the money carefully. I heard in SC they planned to provide help. They said they would start to provide teachers with information on how to help or something like this. He even told the amount of money they probably spend. Please don’t waste money on educating teachers. Their plan of action is what needs to occur. How much are they going to be with these kids?The little help we have had in the past isn’t adequate for those involved. How involved are they going to be with families? Their plan of action for kids exhibiting problems is a start In the past teachers did as much as they could. Those that were extreme I needed more. Support. The inquiry into medications is the biggest one for me, if you look at the ads for these antidepressants and other mood-altering drugs they explicitly state as one of the side effects that suicidal thoughts are a common side effect. In the Louisville and Nashville shootings, the shooters stated they were wanting to end their lives. The disconnect between violence and pharmaceuticals is a huge problem, in essence, the government would rather strip rights away than hold the pharmaceutical companies responsible for their products is insane. Another problem that I see is medicine in this country has become treat the symptom, not the cause, if I got shot and went to the hospital they would put a band-aid on the bullet hole and say here are some pills get rest, and drink water. We need to be treating the issue not the symptom, if you are depressed they should do a full diagnosis and try to find the root of your depression. There are ways to treat depression that don't include drugs. Also, have you noticed how short Dr. visits are now? They ask a couple of questions check a couple of vitals and then write a script, and your out. Doctors don't have time to treat their patients in the manner that they took an oath to today. I know of Dr. with over 100 patents in their care, it's an assembly line healthcare, not true healthcare.

To include questions like do you suffer from any mental health issues. What more do you want in the way of gun control.The question you posed could include any manner of tool that could be used in a crime. I know of many cases where vehicles, baseball bats, knives, bombs and much more have been used to cause mass fatalities. If access is a issue then you should have to take a psychological evaluation to rent a car. You can't look at guns as the problem. Guns were banned in the UK and now they have a knife problem to the point where there are surrender stations for people to get paid when they turn a knife in. With the banning of firearms the murder rate in the UK has sky rocketed, knives are much easily concealed. Back to access who really are they keeping from buying a gun with more legislation, the citizen that obeys the laws or the criminal who doesn't care about the law becuase they don't follow them. These people committing these mass shootings are individuals with psychological issues that were never treated for those issues. The answer by society was give them a pill and hope it gets better.

Not trying to defend, but do a little research. Look up your Rep, see what and how many committees and subcommittees they're on. Then look up which buildings they're held in. Check the calendar as to when they're held. And since you've been to their DC office and shadowed them for a day, I know you've seen the time they spend with constituents, researching topics, writing bill proposals and writing/giving speeches on the Floor, among numerous other activities. Yes, they have staffers for some of these things, but until you've run and replaced them in office, maybe judge a bit less?

When I was going through the police academy in 1988, we received statistics that the mentally ill went into relapse when "they chose" to go off medications. In addition, those medications have side effects which could cause paranoia and suicidal thoughts. How many of those prescribed medications cause paranoia and suicidal thoughts? 1989, the Los Angeles Police Detectives along with other area detectives held a televised press conference. During that conference, detectives pled with politicians, to "close the revolving door at the border," as illegal aliens were arrested for violent and drug crimes over and over again. These convicts were arrested, convicted, served their prison time, and deported; only to return again and again. As local and state politicians "chose" not to believe LAPD Detectives, they instituted a survey. They provided Rampart Division with a stamp and red stamp pad. Arresting officers were to ask the arrestee if they were in the country legally or illegally and if they were illegal, we were to stamp the front page of the arrest. Because I worked a mid shift from 6pm to 3am (we never got off on time during this period when crack cocaine was popular. Mid PM shift was usually 6pm to 6am forced overtime for everyone), I was able to see the stacks of arrests made by all shifts. I rifled through the arrest reports and it appeared 90% of the arrests were illegal alien arrests. The illegal alien arrest survey was to last for one month. After two weeks, the survey was DISCONTINUED.......... ***********************************************A REAL "INCONVENIENT TRUTH.********************************************************* Don't believe what politicians tell you.
