My big ask is NO DOOM YET Vic deserves his own film to do him justice, and if they are going for the multiverse angle in the next phases, a culmination with Jonathan Hickman’s *Secret Wars* would be best done with a well developed anti-heroic Doom rather than a full villain like how he’s been in the past Make a full on von Doom solo film, where he is the central character

To me, it sounds like the best bet would be to give doom a standalone origin movie, then deliberately set him up as a reoccurring villain. Don't introduce him in the first movie, and don't discard him once he looses.

@@benschmitt7035 Probably better to either tease him in a post credit scene...or work his FF origin in an early scientific accident with Reed Richards early in the film or in a flashback, and then giving way to the main story with another villain...possibly then leading to a post credit scene at the end with his appearance in full armor and mask or saving that for a future FF or MCU movie/Disney+ series.

My take on how to do Fantastic Four. -- Gloss over the origin story. Bullet points and flashbacks only. -- Don't spin the team as superheroes. Spin them as EXPLORERS AND SCIENTISTS. -- On that note, make the storyline about discovering and exploring the Negative Zone. -- Annihilus as the villain of the piece. -- If you want to include Doom, have a stinger of him being in communication with Annihilus at the end.

Doom could also appeared briefly in a flashback getting deformed/injured in a science experiment gone wrong with Reed when they are still Grad students like in the comics, possibly tying into a discovering or attempting to discover the Negative Zone and adding more cohesion to the overall plot if Annihilus was the villain...or even a later villain.

Dr. Doom would be the perfect next MCU Villain. He really is an Avengers-level threat when it comes down to earth while the rest of the storyline can focus on and build up towards another Galatic-level threat

screechingjosie I hope they use him as this necessary evil type character, maybe with him being the central villain for his first appearance but the heroes fail to beat him, and realise that they may not ever beat him due to his influence over an entire country which they'd potentially destabilise if he's killed or put away, and on top of that his power base is just too great to combat against. Imagine if all they go through is just a test on his part, then we see him pop up in other films as a villain working behind the scenes or maybe they even go to him for help since he still cares about the fate of the earth. That way we could have a villain who's Marvel's next 'big bad' but unlike Thanos who took on that role for the shier threat scale he posed, Doom is instead a threat that isn't determined on destroying the earth or killing people, but a threat that goes against our heroes' beliefs and will not be easy to get rid of anytime soon, kind of like Lex Luthor in the DC universe.

@@tomtudorweaver1078 Smart approach! I'd also set him up in a diametrically opposed manner to Thanos who was only teased here and there before he burst onto the scene in IW and Endgame. Have Doom showcase his political/strategic prowess by pitting Wakanda and Atlantis against one another in a BP sequel (probably not the second movie for obvious reasons), appeal to and ultimately team up with Strange to both humanize him (due to his unceasing desire to free his mother's soul from hell) AND prove his gift for magic, eventually pop up in FF4 2&3, oppose the Avengers once (in pretty much the same way you outlined) and reemerge later on to steal the Beyonder's or Galactus' powers and reshape the world in his own image. A Doomworld/Secret Wars trilogy would be a sight to behold and the most awe-inspiring way to wrap up the MCU in a neat little bow. Also, the Noah Hawley Doom origin movie needs to happen at all costs.

I hope they don't ruin it. I have faith, but also a lot of doubts on this score. The first two Spider films are quite good and good in their own way, but they have some problems that are unfortunately hard to miss. This is too important team and seems like new page in the universe. This team should become for someone like the Avengers or the X-Men. Those characters to which you are addicted and you know. John Watts is not an ideal director, but if he has a good understanding of who and with whom he is working... I think one of the main things they get wrong with him is they try to personalise him too much - they always show his face more than Doctor Doom himself. We don't need to know what he looks like, hell, don't even hire an A star actor to play him, just get someone physically imposing who can pull off that booming and grandiose voice.

Damn marvel studios really has this much sway on people, they get creative control and put out the product and any issues are Sony’s fault. Even including the fact that I think Sony did have the rule of integrating marvel characters in the Spider-Man movies and having them be distinct it’s ultimately up to the people creating the product in how they do that and there’s hundreds of issues of Spider-Man comics that show how he actually interacts with other marvel characters and what his stories are like. I really don’t like what Watts has done with the character and the most I can do to defend him is the possibility that it’s Marvel forcing those films to be reactionary to the MCU like far from home being an iron man epilogue.

There's a thought I've had ever seen Captain Marvel and Endgame. It was originally intended to be a useful introduction to Mutants and the X-Men, but I think it could also be origin of Dr. Doom's powers. What if a small percentage of those who were snapped came back infused with powers of an infinity stone, or sometimes multiple? Dr. Xavier would have powers of the mind stone, Magneto would have powers of the power stone, etc. Perhaps Dr. Doom himself was infused with powers of the Power stone, and used that to take over Latveria. It'd be most useful to explain why we haven't heard anything about them yet in the movies. Of course, maybe this too would be a butchering of the character, but in a different way. I don't know much about them.

Thing is that the number one spot for smartest just rotates between Reed Richards, Doom and Valaria Richards. If they write the script well enough Reed should come off as *just* a match for him so that the stakes are still enough to keep you on edge. But Reed is definitely smart enough to overthink him

Doom loses to the fantastic four all the time because of Reed , Doom even admitted that Reed is smarter than him so it makes perfect sense for Doom to be their first villain ... Doom gets better and better because of his losses to Reed , so it makes sense to build Doom up through the fantastic four then have him be a avengers level villain

I agree, but I also think that you kind of have to introduce them kind of together. My take is that Doom should show up like an antihero in this. I'm thinking something like a cross between the winter soldier and black panther in phase three. He has noble goals, and questionable methods, but not enough to distract from the main conflict of the movie.

Agreed entirely. That’s why he shouldn’t be the first F4 villain, more so just a background character or just mentioned. You can also have him appear in other movies, like a Doctor Strange 3 perhaps or a Black Panther movie depending on if they make a 3rd. Give him connections and relationships with a lot of the different members over time, to ultimately become the biggest threat they’ve seen yet.

Here's my pitch for the Fantastic Four introduction in the MCU : The opening of the movie would be a flashback, taking place during the 5 years between IW and Endgame. It would showcase Reed and his family working in a dimensional ship, a vehicle that would allow them to travel through dimensions. Reed believes that the victams of Thanos snap were send to another dimension and he wants to go there to save them. During the test, the group end up going to a dimension full of cosmic energy that fuses the four with the elements around them. When they return to Earth, they discover their powers. They are all in panic and Sue turns to Reed and ask what they are gonna do. The scene focusing on Reed's eyes, who has a idea. (roll the marvel logo and the title) The next scene would take place in the present day (after Endgame) and would showcase that the Fantastic Four spend all this time acting as a group of famous adventurers and scientists. Because of their missions, they constatly keep moving from place to place. The first act would showcase the day they move to New York and start to live in old Stark Tower (now renamed Baxter Building). As they tried to adapt to their new home, New York is attacked by a giant green monster, that came from the underground. Seeing people in danger, the Fantastic Four go into action and are able to stop the monster. However they soon discover that the reason why heroes like the Avengers didn't show up is because they are busy dealing with another underground monster, discovering that this monsters are attacking many places of the world. Suspecting that this part of a bigger plan, Reed Richards would investigate and discover that the creatures are being controlled by a sound signal coming from the center of the earth. From that the movie would have the Fantastic Four going to the center of Earth, discovering the kingdom of Subterrania (a creation of the Deviants, the enemies of the Eternals) and that the responsible for the attack is the Mole Man, a disfigured scientist, member of a group of adventurers who betrayed and imprison his friends (Professor Masters, his daughter Alicia and her friend Wyatt Wingfoot) and took over the kingdom, using the creatures to invade the surface world, as revenge for the way he was mistreat by people due to his physical apperance. The Mole Man even tries to recruit the Thing to join his side, since the hero is also feared by people. However, despite being tempted, the Thing would reject the offer, choosing his family over his anger and in the end would help the Fantastic Four defeat the Mole Man, save Alicia, her father and Wingfoot and stop his plan to invade the surface world. The movie would end with the four reunited in a dinner, with Johnny (or the Thing) saying something like "It's good to be home". The post credit scene would take place in Latveria, introducing Doctor Doom as the villain for the sequels (he would be the next "Thanos" of the MCU and, much like the avenger movies build up to IW and Endgame, my pitch would have the Fantastic Four movies building up to a adaptation of Jonathan Hickman's Secret Wars)

A villain I would love for them to go against would be their very first foe; the Mole Man. The character is kind of seen as a joke now because of his silly name and costume but I think he’d be an effective one-off film villain as he has aspects which could be seen as the Fantastic Four gone bad. He’s a deformed outcast like the Thing always worries he’ll become, he has a flare for the dramatic like Jonny but used specifically to get people to do his selfish bidding, prefers to sulk in the shadows like a more bitter Sue would and is a super genius using his mind for evil as a dark foil for Reed. By making him their first foe the four would literally be fighting against what they fear they’d become. Plus bringing in Mole Man gives Marvel a faceless CGI army with the Moloids and a giant monster like Fin-Fang Foom as the big final boss.

I'm not bashing your idea here, just rather skeptical as to the longevity of the MCU (a lot of people seem to have jumped ship right after Endgame already) and their ability to juggle multiple potential big bads, such as Doom, Galactus, Kang, possibly Annihilus (maybe co-opting or teaming up with Ultron?) and probably Norman Osborn - not to even bring up Mephisto, Dormammu, The Mandarin or X-Men villains like Omega Red, Apocalypse or Onslaught. In addition to several concurrent (anti)hero rosters (New Avengers, Young Avengers, New Guardians?, FF, X-Men, X-Force, Thunderbolts, Dark Avengers?) that's a lot to take on. The first time around, they're hands were tied, so to say, but these restrictions gave them the opportunity to focus on Thanos and half-butcher Ultron. Frankly, I'm not liking these odds, especially when all these villains/antagonists are supposed to be crammed into roughly the same time frame of about another decade.

It has to be set in the 60s. They've tried 3 times modernizing the FF, all have failed. I feel it would be a missed opportunity to a different type of MCU movie, set in the 60s, give us the silly, goofy, but still pretty serious FF. Doom should be hinted at in the movie. Hes too big of a villian and too important to the FF main villian. Hes an avengers level villain, even more terrifying than thanos. And if people ask where have they been? Well say they got trapped in the Quantum Zone, and weren't pulled out of there until after Thanos.

They didn’t modernize them in the comics and the greatest fantastic four story was told in the 2000s the concept of family is one that will always be interesting and relatable. Doom should 100% be a fantastic four villain they’re his entire motivation without them he wouldn’t be a villain don’t waste him as a “one and done big bad” I want to see him show up in a Dr Strange movie

Susan Storm is one of the most underrated characters in Marvel. Yeah she was a bit one note when she started but runs like Byrne and Hickman showcase why she’s so great. She’s tough and loyal to her family. But she’s also a dedicated mother. Namely because given her family situation with Johnny she treasures having something she never had growing up. Plus she’s the strongest of the four. Force fields are no joke.

Bump Doom, Mole Man should be the main villain. Spider Man Homecoming used one of the first supervillains Peter fought, so why shouldn't the Fantastic Four do the same? It's not even like Mole Man is not a personal villain, he is an outcast just like Grimm. Except he wasn't fortunate enough to have a family like the Fantastic Four.

I think a good way to introduce Doom into the MCU is to give him a miniseries like Falcon and Winter Soldier, show off his rise to power, build a rebellion, I mean if any villain deserves a solo story or be made to be sympathetic and have audiences root for, it's Doom, plus Falcon and Winter Soldier has a good setup for him

Hopefully the mcu will build up hype throughout these phases so we'll get another Endgame like spectacle at the end of the decade. If phase 1 to 3 are called the 'Infinity saga', the new phases should be called the 'Multiverse saga' as the multiverse will probably be the main plotline throughout the next films.

We've discussed this a lot on my podcast.... how to bring them in. Embrace the 60's origin start (not necessarily show it, we don't need ANOTHER origin story) but introduce them in the present. THey're scientist/explorers that disappeared in the 60's (already powered), forgotten (or not known by the general public). Then they suddenly return through say, the Negative Zone, back to our world. That could introduce Annihilus and any number of villains (and allies) from throughout the universe. Skip the origin. It doesn't need to be told in length. Embrace them as the explorer family that has seen more than anyone on Earth has (i guess maybe besides Captain Marvel & the Guardians). Reed is the almost mad science savant that wows the MCU science folk but has no social ability. Sue is his link. And she's, hands down the most powerful. And they need to show that. The Thing is the tortured monster but with more depth than that. Maybe he could empathize with Banner? And the Torch. He's probably the hardest. Avoid the shallow showboat. Have a little of that but have him be more. He contributes to the team. He's the social web, the fabric that holds them together and pushes the adventure. .... oh, and when they return, they need to namedrop Galactus. Just casually.

Doctor Doom can become an amazing analogy for a Post-Iron Man MCU about a super genius that becomes selfish and evil rather than selfless and good like Tony was. Doctor Doom can be the Anti-Iron Man. Peyton Reed is already doing the FF. Grouchy supergenius, Mom figure, brash young hero constantly squabbling, tough guy with a chip on her shoulder. Also, the FF shouldn't have a complex, nuanced enemy for their first outing, it'll distract from the team tearing itself apart. Go with Puppet Master--almost-family member they thought they could trust who turns out to be (literally) using them.

Simpler villain to give them plenty of room for character development and awesome monsters to fight. FF2 - Villain: Puppet Master. Introduces Alicia Masters. Yet more character development and romance between Sue/Reed and Ben/Alicia. Doom could be in the end credit scene. FF3 - Villain: Dr. Doom. Final battle teaming up with the avengers. Galactus and SS introduced. FF4 - Kinda like civil war (kinda like an avengers movie) but an adaptation of "the coming of galactus"

Victor is just on another level when it comes to antagonists. I'd argue if done right he could cover more ground that Thanos did. He's fought against and with Dr. Strange, He's replaced Tony Stark before, He's commanded cosmic power Thanos only dreamed of. Though for my money the most ballsy move was that one time he strolled into Wakanda and made off with ALL their Vibranium. When T'Challa is like "bro HOW did you get past Bast?", and Bast is just like "Nah fam he checks out, so I let him have the Vibranium"
