Alright, never really wrote a comment like this to you John, but hear me out. SHOGŪN has ended and you spoke your thoughts about it, which I disagree with but as you say movies/TV/media it's all subjective, true. But, can we agree that when a movie or a TV-show establishes the logic in the story it should follow it, right? No? SHOGŪN objectively never failed to do that, because it's narrative didn't have loose ends. The point of that ending was to establish that Toronaga indeed wanted to be a SHOGŪN, the end conversion points to that as he had that secret heart. Meanwhile, your favorite show, House Of The Dragon literally has a nobody guard killing a Lord and everyone is okay with it? I am talkng about the most nonsensical scene of Ser Criston Cole killing Lord Beesbury, really? And he walked away like nothing happened. You like House Of The Dragon, I love SHOGŪN, I know you like it too, but felt the ending didn't deliver that battle scene, which is fine, but again, that world clearly told it's audience that it was never about the fight. Let's not pretend that House Of The Dragon was better, please. You can like the show, but objectively SHOGŪN didn't break any rules and delivered a somber, yet logical ending, compare to House Of The Dragon. Edit: Note that I never said House of The Dragon was bad.

If it's that good, and it was the most anticipated show on John's watch, it deserved its own segment. I only watched the show because John had hyped it up. But, all good. Guess we miss out on a Shogun segment. And I'm sure he said he would do a Shogun aftershow after the show was fully finished.

I would add to Johns list.... Don't make individual films that are like a mini franchise. Like Antman 3 where everyone has an Antman suit. Captain Marvel has 3 Captain Marvels. It dilutes the characters.

I disagree with this..I mean, sure, there are multiple similar characters, but they're also very different. With Ant-Man 3, while there were indeed multiple characters with Ant-Man suits, the characters themselves did different things with those suits (for the most part*). Wasp never turns giant in her suit, she only shrinks down; plus, she can fly with hers. Now, you can make the argument that Hope & her mom's suits are the exact same (though, I don't think Janet wears a suit at the time when all the characters are together, but I could be wrong, it's been a while), & same goes for Hank, Pym, & Cassie, but to me it at least makes sense to do that because unlike the comics, the actors playing these characters age and eventually die, and while I'm sure Paul & Michael love playing their roles in the films, at some point you have to pass down to the next generation to keep a franchise going (if that's the studio's prerogative). As for The Marvels, yeah there were "3 Captain Marvels", but also, not really. Each of the characters in The Marvels had completely different abilities from each other. Cap & Photon couldn't turn light into physical matter; Ms. & Cap couldn't allow physical objects to pass through them; & Photon & Ms. couldn't fly into a sun, or destroy a ship just by flying through it, or take on Thanos all by themselves. It's pretty much the exact opposite of Ant-Man 3. I can see the argument you're making, it's like if you had a Flash movie with the other main characters being Kid Flash, Jesse Quick, Jay Garrick, & Impulse; so, it's just a movie with a bunch of Flashes... lol. And Ant-Man 3 is a close comparison to that, but The Marvels is far from it.

AMC Screen Unseen- Yes, Boy Kills World was cool but I kinda agree with the viewer’s opinion about the camera work at times. Insane fighting (cheese grater 😱) and the final fight very reminiscent of the final fight in The Raid.

Nah I disagree about the TV actors transitioning into movies rarely happening. I think it happens all the time. Denzel Washington, George Clooney, Guy Pierce, Margot Robbie, Olivia Colman, Adam Brody, Michael J. Fox the list goes on. There's no rhyme or reason for success in either medium, no real formula. Not even if you studied from a young age and attended Juilliard. Some people are just lucky. Some agent or producer could just spot them like Pamela Anderson or Jennifer Lawrence.

Completely agree with Disney TV shows being focused on too much. No one who watches this show is a casual, so this statement doesn't apply to us. But, Disney has been making casual fans work too hard to keep up with what's going on, and that leads to fatigue with the universe and storyline all together. So getting back to focusing on movies, and having the TV shows compliment them, rather than having them interweaved with each other seems like a better approach.

Hi everyone, hopefully iam not late to the party here and people can still see and comment on this, but number 3 in John's how marvel can dominate about not having disney+ shows and movies so connected because what happened with the Marvels, didn't James Gunn say he is doing that, but also with games, so movies, shows and games all connected, I would argue if not everyone watches the shows and is lost, less people will play the games, so I think DCU will have the same problem.

Not enough people watched Shogun? Uhhh I’m not sure about that one. I think the ratings when up each week. On another note, can I just say I wish more people would instead of considering how many people watched the show would still make something out of it because they loved it and enjoyed talking about. The numbers shouldn’t affect if you do a spoiler discussion. That’s just me but sometimes you just have to let the passion of talking about something come out instead of how much it’ll do for your numbers on KZbin. I’ve seen this now happen with people not wanting to react to trailers anymore. Like come on just give it a watch, bring in a new audience and just enjoy talking about it.

Shogun has still not managed to make it to the originals chart for Nielson despite reaching episode 7, which means it is unlikely to get there till at least the finale. Its not the quality of the show that's to blame, its service its on. Hulu has a smaller audience than the other services, and the Disney-Hulu demographic aren't watching shogun for some reason. If it was on Netflix, the show would have a much bigger footprint.

@@Dragonborn24377 Just because it’s well-made or rather different and stands out does not mean it’s necessarily good let alone valuable. And with that, why do you all like it so much? What does it really mean? There’s many other people I know that also find it boring and not really of any value, where is at least madam web is interesting with the way you presented its concepts with visions and having to be realistic and how you would react towards it if something like that happened. Oppenheimer doesn’t really feel like it’s anything that special, even considering its techniques, of which Christopher Nolan has already done before with the dark Knight and other movies in certain ways. So can you see why I and others find madam web more interesting and overall valuable? Because at least it specifically has something, where is Oppenheimer overall comes off as nothing, especially when you consider that the Oscars are just awards and they don’t really need anything. I would bet that most people you know would probably consider movies like finding Nemo, the first Pirates of the Caribbean to be better than lord of the rings the return of the King, all of which came out the same year in 2003 and yet return of the King won best picture, we’re even hard-core lord of the rings fans find that it’s too long and not the best out of the series. So does winning best picture actually truly mean anything?

I don't mean to sound like a downer, but I think the era of comic book movie dominance is coming to an end, its completely normal, trends always change, its nothing to mourn, its just how culture works. They had a very good decade long run, but the recent mediocrity and oversaturation has done irreparable damage to the reputation of the genre. John you may argue that people have been crying comic book fatigue since 2010, but its never been to this degree and after this level of saturation before. We can blame regime changes at Disney, or the failure of the rise of DC, or the death of the X-Men movies, but they all did have a result which we are seeing right now. People no longer feel excited about these movies, instead they are excited for 3rd party CBM subversion IP like invincible and The Boys. Even if they await a main line franchise, its normally Elseworlds like The Batman 2 and Joker 2. Superman has hoe behind it but we are all skeptical. Deadpool has hope behind it but beyond that for the rest of the universe, we are skeptical. Audiences are generally tired of easter egg-self referential-pause for audience applause movies, they are now more interested in newer genres of IP. Yes mediocre movies are what audiences don't like, but cultural momentum is a real thing. And comic book movies having losing that momentum for a some time now. I don't think its something to be offended by, or consider it offensive, its just a general pattern. The recent rise of Auteur driven blockbuster cinema like Barbie, Oppenheimer, Dune, etc. seem to be the new trend that audiences and Hollywood seems to be pivoting towards. We will have offshoots like Guardians 3 (arguable also an auteur driven movie by James Gunn) and the Spider-verse movies(they are also strongly pushed ahead by the animation spectacle on top of being excellent movies, its basically the must watch movie event for animated movies) and hopefully Deadpool 3 and Superman(fingers crossed) but looking at Marvel's future slate, it does not look very hopeful because its all just tertiary characters. Sony's trainwreck of a universe has not helped. Honestly I'm more confident in DC's future content than Marvel right now. Video game IPs have also been having good adaptations lately, I think they are more likely to dominate in the TV format, than movies. I get really scared sometimes hoping that Deadpool 3 isn't just a cameo fest and is a real meaningful story. I was the biggest fan of the CBM genre and have been since I was a kid, it defined my taste in movies throughout my childhood right up until adulthood, but I think the cultural trends are moving on. Sad to say I don't share your optimism, but I respect it and hope you are right and I am not.

I have to be honest. I was never a comic book movie guy. I loved all the batmans except for batman and robin when they dropped, and then Nolans Batman had me geeked. I have never watched Iron Man trilogy. I just didn't care to see them, Then we got Captain America. For some reason that movie excited me and I have been a fan of the Marvel Movies ever since. But I pick and choose what I digest with those movies. Never saw Thor until Ragnorok. Then I was a fan. I love scarlett johnasson so I saw Black Widow. I also saw all of the Avengers movies in theaters and loved Infinity War that I saw it 3 times during it's run. Not a fan of endgame but Loved the ending with Captain and Peggy. I have only enjoyed two movies since endgame, as I had fun with Thor 4. I haven't been back since Spiderman 3, as I don't like any of the characters now. Once these Marvel people actually release something cool to me, I would love to see it. DeadpoolxWolverine, LFG!

As long as studios release GOOD films, that's all that needs to be done. It doesn't matter if something is trending or whatever. If they make great films, audiences will go to see them. If they release disappointing craps, then yes, the 'trend' will die and audiences won't want to go see them.

Plain and simple John said this is not a political show yet he gave a snarky subjective comment about trump. Tell me, how would you feel if John had anything negative to say or made fun of Joe Biden?
