We need to preserve the knowledge of people that know how to work with their hands and make due, someday the throw it away and get a new one mentality will get us in trouble. Enjoyed the video.

I like your thinking. I do the same with what I have. My wife calls it junk.

Very innovative. The gloves anywhere close to the rollers on the “unsetter” is extremely dangerous. That roller grabs the glove, you might be known as “Lefty “.

I have the same equipment, but have not set it up yet. Thanks for the videos. I will use some of his ideas eventually and it will shorten my learning curve I'm sure.

Please forgive me if I am silly but...Blades are made by first cutting the tooth and gullet. That process causes the sharpening of teeth. Then the teeth are set left, right and left center. So the sharpened edges are twisted away from when formed. In contrast,,,,,We sharpen a dull blade with the teeth set. So our sharpened teeth derive a very different (and uniform) cut angle. This does not seem to be what occurred initially during blade formation,. Am I incorrect?

I have a large Laguna bandsaw which I use chiefly for cutting up firewood. The blade on it is pretty dull but I'm not looking forward to doing one tooth at a time for a hundred and fifty teeth. How about mounting the blade backwards, turning the saw on, then holding an ordinary knife sharpening stone against one side of the teeth, then the other. It probably wouldn't be as good as doing each tooth individually but it would be a lot quicker.

Do you have any videos on 30 inch buzz saw blades.
@TCSawmills2 жыл бұрын
I have a buzz saw or rather a bucking saw that we are rebuilding. Mr. Robert has set and sharpened the blade for one too. I'll look around for something interesting.

Question Why would you want to remove the set f rom a band saw blade. set is very important to cutting, explanation please
@TCSawmills3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes if you hit something it can take the set beyond where it should be. If all the teeth are reading around 22 thousandths and a few are at 35 thousandths the ones set too far will leave deep marks on the wood and will be over stressed. Another thing we can do is take all the teeth back to a lower set using a tool we have then essentially start from scratch to ensure consistency of the final set.
