I've been living in the Philippines, starting in 1983. I bought two lots and built two homes on them. One for me and my Filipina wife and one for my son. I've bought three new cars and I put more than $10,000.00 in savings. Life here is very good! I am so glad I left the US.

As a citizen of Manila, Luzon sinced birth. There is a lot of staycation apartments in Metro Manila. But a lot cheaper in Provinces. However the benefits living in Metro Manila. You have the fastest access to North and South Provinces. Living in Metro is Expensive but fun however you cannot have the Beautiful views like that in Metro only Buildings and Small Businesses. I suggest stay in Tagaytay or Makati or QC

If you make the Philippines your home base, you can travel to other neighboring countries more easily, not just switching from urban to rural or resort life from week to week inside the island nation. Many foreigners have traveled from Manila to Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Middle East, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Palau, Guam, etc. Some have settled here permanently while spending a few months a year back in the USA or Europe.

Splendid video, just to put things in better context, stated cost of living is ok if you are living in a secondary or provincial city with a modest lifestyle, by western standards. The cost of living will significantly be a bit higher especially for the rent if you go to the primary urban centers like Makati or Cebu. Most of the country is tourist friendly and safe for solo tourist but for those thinking of visiting the Philippines on their own, just do your research very well or have someone who is familiar with the culture and norms as to give you a better guidance and experience on your stay. This will also help you to get better deals and avoid unsure places. Other than that, Philippines is an excellent destination for tourist, gives you a better value for your money.

The only downside for foreigners who wish to live here is the weather conditions. Most of the time it gets very very hot here which will make you sweat a lot if you are not used to it. It also just randomly rains here so always bring an umbrella. But if you manage to get used to all of that and you have a good enough financial background then you can live here. Also, it is very traffic here, especially in dense urban areas like Manila.

Angeles is a special place, where a lot of foreigners stay because of.. well lets talk about something else... For the Internet connection, the average here in the Philippines is 150 Mbps for upload and download (including mobile), so that is actually very slow. For the scooter, many people here have it because (1) they can't afford a car, (2) parking here in the Philippines is an issue with the majority of establishments not having a dedicated parking, and (3) to avoid traffic since scooters can bypass most of the traffic by getting in between vehicles.

I worked as a call center agent for at&t for six years and I know for a fact that phone plans in the united states cost about six times more in average for less compared to here in the PH.

Yes cost more but less service? US unlimited long distance, no data / talk time cap, seldom is service cut, except for very remote areas always coverage. If I walk 300 ft from road here in Bohol "no service".

The value of Philippine Peso has weakened because of the Pandemic, the war, and some relevant issues. Not only the Philippines, but also the other countries in the world. The Dollar has been so powerful that US companies have expanded their business into the rest of the world. One good example is the Gas; it's cheap in the US but we all suffer the price hike.

Just as a suggestion for your first trip here. more than 7000 islands to visit. Metro Manila, which consists of many cities, is huge and congested. Don't come here during the months of April and May, unless you can tolerate more than 100 degrees F heatwave. The only way to get out of the heat is to travel to the provinces with beaches, such as Bataan, Bulacan, or places in Visayas and Mindanao that are close to the sea. Otherwise, stay indoors and run the airconditioning unit full blast. June is when the storm season starts. Yes, there are 2 kitchens in some households, most especially in the province. I am from the island of Leyte, and our houses in Tacloban City and Ormoc City have 2 kitchens, wherein the indoor kitchen is where we do the cooking, and the cleaning of fish, meat and veggies are done at the outdoor kitchen. Sometimes we also do cooking at the outdoor kitchen if it's smokey, like barbecue. Internet speed up and down are better if you are in the metropolitan areas or main cities of each island. Water is indeed cheap. For regular households, the water bill is around $10 - $20, which already covers bathing, laundry, and cleaning for a month. Drinking water delivered free for 5Gal is 50 cents. Main transportation is Jeepney which are modified jeeps from WW2. There are buses, too. But most of the buses are used for longer trips most especially for inter-city travel or going to the distant provinces. You can also hire a car or taxi using the Grab mobile app and book a ride. Foodpanda is a very popular food delivery service in SEA, and it's convenient for most people, most especially with sudden munchies in the early morning. Jollibee is our version of McDonald's. The must-try there, is the Chicken Joy. You also try the Spaghetti. Sweeter instead of the usual tomato taste like the Italian version. Call/text/data for mobile can be loaded with credits. You can apply for a mobile monthly plan, but I think there are requirements in order to qualify. Not sure if citizenship is one of them. If you need to gas up your own ride, there will be attendants at the pump. There are plenty of malls around the country, most especially in the highly urbanized zones. If you need a place to stay at short notice, you can use Airbnb. As long as you keep earning dollars with your job, you can live like a king here.

Almost forgot. Since you rap, look for Slick and Sly Kane or Mista Blaze. They are our local hiphop artists here who runs their own recording studio. Or you can also get hooked up with other artists like Deadkey, Denial the Ricecracker, and The Franchize, who are the members of the rap group Agaron.

Yes, for Filipinos especially if you're working in the cities or in metro manila. It is more convenient to ride a scooter or motorcycle because of the heavy traffic during rush hours. :D

Back in 1995 my haircut in Laguna Niguel was $20 plus $5 tip, here for 2022 is $2 with tip included, so many things a fraction of the cost compared to the US, my maid is $80 a month, the filtered water that was showed is 20 pesos in my city plus free delivery, the load on my phone is 300 pesos, right now it's 55 pesos to the US$, lasts me a month for phone and data, now there are jeepneys with ac, 14 pesos regular fare, 11 pesos for seniors, what a bargain!

If your gonna live here normaly round it off to around 30k php but if on a tight budget 25k or like the video 28k php ite like 500+ usd. But if your gonna splurge on things or go travel around. 1k usd or more is needed. Its best u choose a place to stay near places u wanna visit. Living in the cities are much expensive than living in provinces. But its your choice. Find where your heart is

This 2023 this year, the internet speed has changed drastically. I've been paying my own internet connection worth 1625 pesos = 29 dollars per month. The speed is just good, 200 to 300 mbps internet speed (upload and download speed). So it's pretty good.
