Being honest with the customers explaining the wet belt and the costs with doing it at a discounted rate shows how good of a trader you are, and i think its best that way since the customer does it when their buying the car rather than forgetting about it down the line or chancing it and leaving it to try avoid the large bill (Yard full of cars saying short on stock is funny) Ps. cant wait to buy raffle tickets on the 106!
@BazDeeWren7 күн бұрын
Completely agree with the wet belt, I’m looking at a transit 1.5D just now and the conversation with the dealer is the price + the cost of the belt replacement even though it was done 40,000 ago. That way I know I can relax for several year about it.

James you have much more trust in the wet belt system than most of us . A lot of these engines are not reaching 60.000 miles before they have serious problems . Yes you will get the odd one that will do a lot of miles but most of them won't . Don't understand why anyone would even consider owning one of these . I have been a big ford fan since the old ford days but these modern fords are terrible.
@ChopsGarage7 күн бұрын
See you say the odd one but touch wood none of the ones I've sold which is well into double figures have been an issue. But then mine have been FSH and bets replaced at correct interval
@alexanderrobertson77447 күн бұрын
@ChopsGarage yep I am sure the FSH helps but I have watched loads of videos of people stripping those ecoboost engines down and the results are scary. Glad you have had no problems with them as they are expensive to repair if the worst happens. You know it's such a shame because apart from the ones with those ecoboost engines ford fiesta and focus have always been good to drive and very reliable cars .
@rogerbarrett99207 күн бұрын
The eco boost engine would probably last ok if there was a way of converting those internal wet belts to chains, has any entrepreneural engineering company thought of doing this or is it just an impossible task?
@Clodhopping7 күн бұрын
Used dealer I know won't touch Ecoboosts at all. He just gets excellent condition Zetec engine Fords (C-Maxs, etc,) from a main dealer and they fly off the forecourt.
@stevenking18336 күн бұрын
Biggest issue with the 1.0 ecoboost is the oil change intervals being far to long, id personally change the oil 6 monthly if it does a lot of small heat cycles, regardless of miles.....school runs etc, or every 10k miles if it does higher mileages 20-30k a year of motorway work etc. I change the oil every 8k in my 2016 2.0 180bhp diesel mondeo...which can mean its havint fresh oil and filter every 3-4mths..., 185k and apart from a few coolant leeks, its never had a issue....but they are an incredibly robust engine to begin with

That was the struggle I had when looking for a car last year. Loads of cars at £1000 and loads at £8 to £10k plus but I wanted to spend £4-£5k on a car at about 8-10 years old that was in good condition and I eventually found my ASX diesel and it's been great for the 7 months I've had it.

Even with the wetbelt done is the 10 year 150,000 depending on the right service intervals and the right oil,as it’s my understanding these have to use specifically the right oil viscosity and brand or they still go boom?
