Good info and accurate info on all the pricing, I'm working on one for my car too. The biggest piece I would add to this, is before you build a 400whp Miata, build a 200whp Miata. Forget the forged motor and death power at first. Build in phases, build yourself as a driver and a mechanic (like you mentioned) as you build your car. There's a strategic way to do a responsive stock-motor build and leave an upgrade path to 300-400+ without needing to buy everything again. That's the way I did it, and I'm very happy about it. Basically what I tell everyone with a 90whp 1.6L that says "they need 500" 😅

Then you're gonna have to pay for rotary maintenance + any mods to get it off of base power, considering it's a more expensive platform than the mx-5. Yeah, the other cars might look "cooler" than the miata but they're not gonna drive nearly as good. Not everyone prioritizes flexing over a good driving experience.

I've never done a full engine, but I did rebuild the top end of my engine with new heads (V6, so two heads) and valve train components. Also did some other odds and ends, but the little stuff definitely adds up. Seemed like every day I was leaving to pick up some paint, parts cleaner, engine fluids, electrical connectors, bolts, etc.

In the Philippines, labor for everything engine wise is $100 usd. So it is best to collect all the parts for the rebuild and pay the one time fee of removing and installing it back. Parts will be expensive, about twice or higher than usa prices. So what i do is buy everything from the usa in big boxes freight shipped for $50 for 2.5months

Wow, that is sooo much money - but honestly I was expecting that, because in every video you almost bought 3 new parts... :D There is also still not much eye candy included in this price... :( it's still a red Miata with bronce wheels. I recently bought a nice colored Miata and just found that the worst thing about Europe is that sellers here can't in currency. It looks like they think that 1 USD is 1.14 EUR and not 1 EUR is 1.14 USD as the rest of the world thinks. Seriously, everything here is a lot more expensive for no adequate reason. Stuff that i see on US website that costs 100 Usd (incl. taxes) in Europe will cost around 120 Eur. And if in US the average salary does not differ so much from state to state, in Europe there are a lot of countries where 800 Eur P/M is a good salary. I am not complaining but when i bought my NA Miata for 3500 Eur in far not perfect condition, I've been expecting to spend around 1.5-2k Eur, based on youtube videos and forums, to get it into a normal condition it appears to be that everything i need here in Europe will cost me around 3k+. Even the speedo cable is either 100-150 Euros buying here or 25$ + 55$ shipping and taxes for ordering it from states. Just imagine how much would Sams Miata cost here. Still, I love my roadster. Probably the best purchase in my life

You need mounts, subframes, all the accessories to fit and work in a car that wasnt meant to have that engine. Then theres suspension, brakes, driveline. LS Swapping a miata would still cost upwards of 15k

Kids... For $21,000 you can buy a proper muscle car that had 400+ HP When it was built new 40-50 years ago. . And not trying to be a boomer, I'm actually GenX and I even own a Miata, but these engine blocks were never meant to handle that much HP and torque. It WILL twist and it WILL break your rear connecting rod bearings. Meaning that your $20k WILL turn into a $800 shell with a "blown" engine. And in a fairly short time. These Miatas are lightweight and have excellent handling, especially with a roll bar install a long with front and rear aftermarket sway bars. So a 200-250HP engine in one of these cars is enough for a good driver to embarrass Mustang owners. I wouldn't go over that. Freakin 400-500 HP... The engine will eat itself. It will twist and there's nothing that can be done to make it NOT twist under that amount of torque. . Lol take the 21k and buy yourself a proper muscle car. 😁

I've always loved the Japanese light duty trucks and they do get imported over here but often with a box or clean without anything on the back, so I'm wondering what wheelbase you guys use for a car carrier as they make them with a few different sizes. I'm about 15k into mine. Clutch, flywheel, brakes, torsen, turbo kit, wheels and tires. Unfortunately I had to pay for some to be installed due to moving so I had to eat that cost. Had a rusted gas tank that I didn't know about so that was a big shop cost. Good thing the car was only 2k XD

I have a similar mindset to yours and think the same way more or less. I'd much rather put the $21,000 that Sammit spent into a Subaru WRX STI (though it's a completely different class car), but I respect the build.
