@Coding Only Freelance is the obvious one, yes. But also you can sell stuff, even stock images/videos. You can start a KZbin channel. You can train others, maybe kids. Hmm. You can make CSGO Skins. You can make a game even. Hm. But yeah freelance will be the best as a start in my opinion. And before you do anything I highly recommend getting an internship in the biggest company you can find.

Germany: Im a Senior Technical Animator/3D-Artist - 22 years of experience, won a lot of prices in the last decade. Wide spectrum due to the years, Illustration, Concept Art, 2D, webdesign etc. Lots of Game Design experience, and Game Developement collected in those years, been Lead Artist for a whole branch of games, so done it all. Working as a Technical Animator right now 2024: Sallary: 60K € year, 24-30 days of payed vacation depending on the year, Xmas-Gifts like Consoles and Money, all year Home-Office, working 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. 60K € and that is considered, way above Average. (Thats 65K in Dollars) And since this is germany, i pay 32% to taxes. (Only 32% because i am married and have kids, i would loose way more if i was alone. ;) Cheers

I call BS on these numbers! The sources of his info are on the honor system and by head hunters so they are artificially high with the expectation employers will read them and pay more. I worked in 3D with over 200 other 3D artist and most were around the 50,000 range. Only a hand full were making 80,000 or above and were with the company for 10 years as a director. Also he fails to mention the field is vastly over saturated with wannabe 3D artists an gamers who will work for peanuts just to get their foot in the door driving salaries into a downward spiral. Plus, 3rd world countries or places like India are becoming very popular for studios to use because they can pay an artist there as little as 7,000 per year, instead of 60K. Everything can be sent digitally so it makes financial sense to the CEO's. They get 3 to 4 times their money. And don't kid yourself, those artists are just as talented and hard working if not more so than most 1st world countries.

These are all just employment numbers. Also i guess it is quite important what country you are in. Yearly income for full-time 3D can easily be around 5k$ per year. As a freelancer 3D can also go up to 300k+$ per year even after the first year. So I guess it is a hard topic to give accurate information about. Still a great video, gives a good estimate!

Disagree!, im a animator student and the thing is you can work at several projects or several parts of the project, so for example if you know how to do 2d animation, 3d animation and rigging you have already 3 jobs that add to your paycheck!!! so in a way the more you know (and the better you are at it) the more fat your paycheck will look!!
@ottovonweaboo63554 жыл бұрын
@Vladimir Hashchyshyn If its based on a salary then yes you may have to take 1 one job but in my experience you can work in 1 or 2 parts of the animation process example: If its a 3d animation you can be the one that makes the textures and rigging THUS adding to your paycheck. Freelancing on the other hand is way more dynamic but depends on what you know to do if you are an integral producer you can go from 2d, to clean ups, to enviroment... i s really hard to explain so i hope this answers your question.
