Saving 30+ grand by 22 is awesome. But as someone who is a bit older and with a different perspective, I would've bought a 10K beater and put the other 20 G's down on a small house or condo and built some wealth. You don't realize at 22 how young you are and how much time you have to play around later in life. Build wealth first, play second. I was similar to you when I was your age, and really wish I would've skipped the IROC I bought at 18 and just saved for a condo at 22 instead. Enjoy the Mustang though. Nice car. Just my .02

good advice. you just never know what someone situation is though. he may have rich parents or something. putting 30 down and financing the rest over 2 years that comes out to 600 a month sounds like he could of bought the thing outright and he's just building credit. whatever it is, it doesnt sound like a normal situation. if he's 22 and graduated college the year before he would still have college loan debt. i guess he coulda lucked out and got a 50-60k a year job without a degree, lives with his parents, and been saving for the past couple years before this. but thats abnormal because few individuals start out at 19 or 20 making that. so i dont know. definitely not typical.

michael barkley Just some insight from a car salesman, credit is great and all but if you’re a first time buyer make sure you have at least 30% of the vehicles price as a down payment saved up. Because banks typically only even think about approving first time buyers if they put down 30%.

Dude.... You had 30,000.00 cash and you bought a 2018 GT? AND HOW did you still need a cosigner. Bro you should have waited another few months. Or bought a used Shelby GT350. Or gone to a better dealer, the big dealerships would finance you by yourself to get that with not that much down. You NEVER want to spend your liquid like that especially on a depreciating asset. Money could have been spent way more productively brother :)

Great video! I just bought my 21 Mustang GT at 19. I did what the dealer said most people do, well sort of. I put 8k down and signed a 5 year loan so I also pay around 600 a month (582 if we want to be exact) I bought my first car at 18 (2020 Nissan Altima) and that helped me build my credit so I have yet to get a credit card. My dad cosigned the Altima and I got my mom to cosign for the mustang for a lower interest rate. I was offered the loan at 14% without a signer and when my mom cosigned, I got a 1.49% interest rate from the dealer. I also negotiated about 5k off my MSRP. Please do not take this as me trying to one up the guy in the video in any way, I'm just sharing my personal experience hoping to help others 🙏 It's worth mentioning I still have the Altima. My sister is driving that around for now but once she gets her own car that will be my daily If you're wondering: Insurance: 253/month (19 year old with a reckless ticket in Northern Virginia) Gas: 180-230/month (I drive far more than the national average. About 1.5k-1.8k miles per month) Please be sure you're prepared for the worst. I'm thankful that I was because 2 weeks after I got the mustsng, I got nails in not one, but 2 tires. They're run flats. It cost me 300 PER TIRE. This included the mount/balance, etc.

It will all work out.. I bought a brand new Camaro RS for 12k back in 1991 at 22, couldn't afford the Iroc. My father bought the car actually. I paid him back weekly. I was able to keep it on his insurance. I was good, no accidents, tickets, and I paid him back. Only bad thing I didn't establish a line of credit. At 27 to get that credit. I bought/financed a used 1990 chevy 454 SS, it was already decked out, chrome, braided hoses MSD. I put a cap on it. I put a 10k stereo system in it, 4 15 inch subwoofer's, mids, highs and low, 1000 watt amp, 2- 500 watt amps and a 60 watt amp. It was bad ass. Still l have 🏆 in my basement after 25 yrs. I bought an used Acura for 4k for the winter. 454 tires would just spin in the snow.. All finaced by myself and paid off. At 30 I sold my truck. Paid for engagement ring. Got married and bought a house for 124k. Two boys later now 18 and 21. Home worth 350k, it will be paid off in 4 yrs. I dive a 2016 Chevy Silverado Z71 Rally 2 Edition. I am thinking of trading it in for a Mustang GT. Mid life crises. Lol. If I had a due over/invest in realastate, thats seems to be where the money is at.

So in november of 2014 i got a base 2015 mustang gt. Sticker on the car was like 34k. Got some discounts and put 3500 down. With taxes i financed around 33k for 6 years at 1.24 percent interest (interest is going up on all loans btw) and i pay 465 per month. Im in new york and have a perfect driving record and my insurace has consistently been just under 100 per month. I bought the car when i was 23 btw and im currently 27. They love to tell you that when ur over 25, insurance will get cheaper. It may not. Before 25 i had the "college student" discount and as soon as i was over 25, that went away and the discount for being over 25 kicked in so it didnt change my insurance at all. The 0% apr offers are typically only if u pay full sticker price for the car. As soon as u start negotiations, that goes out the window so take that into account.

No one should tell anyone else what to do with their money, however if you had 30k saved up you could have bought a 16 or 17 GT Premium cash. Looking at the cloth seats you bought a base model GT. Which means that all the cool stuff that Ford advertises for the 18, you didn't get. Probably because those cost well over 50k. You could have taken that monthly payment and went after market and brought a 16 or 17 up to the same performance of an 18, all without a monthly payment. I know people that have run to Ford for the 18 with all its cool features only to leave with something less than what they wanted. Buy used and let someone else take that initial hit. There will be plenty of used 18's on the market next year from people who bought the wrong car and had to trade it in.

Spending damn near $1,000 every month on any car is about the stupidest thing you could do UNLESS you’re already living on your own, got your life together, etc. if you’re not supporting yourself, DO NOT GET A CAR THIS EXPENSIVE. I bought an 04 Mustang for $4,000 (bought not financed) and it’s been a blast driving it. It’s also a beautiful car so no, you don’t need to break your bank account just to have the newer things in life. Get your life together & then treat yourself.

You did pretty good putting down that much. I would say any car over 20,000 put 20% down at least and make your loan short as possible, you did twenty four months that's ideal. Sorry to put it like this but rent a mechanics stall at your dealership because it will spend as much time there as it will in your garage. The 2018 Mustang GT just didn't make the grade as far as reliability goes.

Yeah, Mustangs cost more here, but to be fair, other than in scandinavian countries, price wise they aren't that far apart, since EU spec cars are all equipped with premium&performance pack as standard. Add in a couple of grand for shipping and customs and you're about there.

Congrats! I hope you enjoy It! I also wanted to pay for my mustang in full, but as I get older, I get a bit wiser. If you want a $30k car and have the $30k in cash, you COULD buy the car outright and save yourself maybe $4k in interest... Or you could take that $30k and put it in the market in a decent ETF and make about 12% a year, and just finance the vehicle. By the time you pay off the vehicle (6 years), that $30k will be roughly $59k. I'll never pay for a vehicle in full. I'm 25 years old and have roughly $20k in the market and only put $1500 down on my mustang. I do, however, make $1200 payments (my note is only $538) to stay ahead of the depreciation.

I work at a dealership and most people don't put that much down. You did it the uncommon way but yes, most people finance most of any car or truck because people don't have 10000 / 15000 never mind to put it down on a car. Just the facts. I personally finance the most of any car because I invest and autos are a depreciating asset and I will never put a lot or cash for a car that one day will be worthless

Mustangs drop like rocks !!!!!!!!!!! In value. Why would anyone unless they were comfortable financial wise pay 30,000 for a 40+ k car. The value is gone . The issue with mustangs is they are a dime a dozen. Everyone and their teenage son is driving a mustang. You could’ve started off small with small loans, and then bought that car with 0 money down. At least a year or two old. Then turn around and sell after owning for a few years . Damn .

While I'm sure there are select few out there who appreciate this info, if the objective was to give info to the AVERAGE consumer/car buyer, I'd say your situation is unique enough that the info is pretty unusable for most people. I, for one, do not have $30k to drop on a down payment. Plus, when most people buy new cars, they don't opt for a 2 year loan. Add on top of that most of us are not reliant on our parents as co-signers anymore... So looking at all that, this video doesn't really tell the AVERAGE consumer jack squat about what they'd be paying for the same car. :P

I am older than you and I had a 2014 Mustang GT Premium, my full coverage insurance with $1000 deductible was $800 a year. My payments were $600 a month, 2% interest, just trade in for 72 months. Financial advice... LOL... Penfed, I deal with them as well. Keep great credit with them, they will boost your credit limits higher and higher. I started with a card with a $1k limit and within 3 years they jacked it up to $21k. It is their gas saver card and the only thing I put on it is gas, but still the credit limit helps my overall credit score. Dump progressive, if you got Penfed because of your dad, you should be able to get USAA insurance because of him as well. USAA is cheaper insurance, but admittedly they are a massive pain in the ass when you have a claim. Still better than progressive though. So save some money and buy guns with that money :)

Dodges closer sized Hemi 5.7 liter has almost 100 hp less at 375hp at crank. The Scatpack has the 6.4L with 475hp at the crank. Chevy doesn't have an engine near the same cubic inch/liter size that comes within a mile either. Why's dodge and chevys engines so much weaker per cubic inch or liter. Prove me wrong. There's no other N/A American V8 that comes close. None. Fords 5.0 is the most UNDERATED engine America has BAR NONE! And don't even get me started on the 10 speed tranny. Of course, as a former Ford employee, I can get Z-plan price that's going to take at least $1500 off or more, depending on options. Maybe I'm just used to that kind of deal instead of what normal customers get.

Well at least you have a fuel saver haha. My car goes through a tank a week and it's not my daily driver

It's getting harder and harder to buy a new vehicle. I look at it this way, if I'm going to pay over $450 a month for a payment then I' m willing to pay a little more for a fully loaded vehicle . With the average car payment now at $525 and the average truck payment now at $675 it makes me wonder where people are getting there $$$$$ from?

Ask what people's intrest rate is. Haha. And I don't plan to take another car loan for a while after this one

This car recommends it since the car runs really hot, but it's not required. I hate money though and I'm looking at getting a 93 tune soon

Lol I had a 2012 Mustang Gt and my insurance was 201 a month. I switched to a 2017 Camaro SS and my insurance dropped to 168 a month. I was thinking it was going to be more for the fact that it's a more powerful car out of the factory, newer and it's yellow. My mustang was black. Must just be because of the reputation mustangs have with crashing.

I've heard exactly that. Apparently Corvettes are even cheaper since the average age of Corvette owners is 60+

Anyone trying to buy a mustang dont do what this guy did with all due respect its pretty stupid. These cars arent worth shit! You want a mustang fuck saving, instead wait! If you really love a car wait 2 or 3 years and get it cheap with 30 to 40k miles maybe even less. If youre a mustang guy in a few years a much better redesign will turn up and your going to lose in the end

Pay about 500 a month including insurance for my 14 gt, which is very do-able for me I like the 18 part of me wants to upgrade but knowing my 14 will be paid off in two years idk lol

That's not a bad payment. Personally, I'd just keep the 2014. There's nothing better than having a paid for car haha

Insurance for a 22 year old person with that car in new york would be almost 3 to 4 times how much hes paying
