Hey Dave! I'm one of your students. How do you find bars and restaurants that are for sale?
@DaveAllredTheRealBarman2 жыл бұрын
This is a good question Michel. There are a few sites online that have bars and restaurants for sale that work like real estate sites. If you are serious about purchasing though, I would find an agent. It will save you time and it will actually save you money because they will help you find what's best for you. Best of luck.

Hey Dave love your videos very insightful I have a few questions related to bartending: 1. In one of your videos you talked about not needing a bar certificate as well as some other things but what about a responsible service of alcohol certificate; though I am told you don't need it I'm also told it will help getting a job as a bartender. What should I do? 2. When bartending is it better to work in a bar, club or restaurant also what are the pros and cons of each? Again love your videos keep up the good work.
@DaveAllredTheRealBarman5 жыл бұрын
Hey bub, here you go: 1. It's true that you don't need an actual Bartending Certificate to bartend. Meaning, a certificate that shows you learned skills, but many states require the alcohol awareness certificate so you server responsibly and know the laws. I would definitely recommend this, even if your state doesn't require it. It shows that you're responsible, and besides, it only costs like $8 - $10 online. Why wouldn't you? 2. This one is tough because it really depends on the bar itself. Starting out you will need to find any job you can get, and then move up to the hire paying jobs. I have a video titled The 5 Best Bars For Beginners to Work At, which you can watch here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lX28k4V9jNRrftE Hope that helps.

Hey Hongo, the average profit margin before taxes for restaurants is 3 - 6% at the end of the day.

I love the content of this channel... so helpful, thank you! I do have some questions on the video... What is a POS System?? Legacy system? Is he talking about computer software to run the bar? Or Lighting and Sound Equipment? I always thought POS stood for piece of $h!#. And for labor costs, he says 20-30% of sales... is that gross sales, or net sales (profit)? And is "average sales/year" talking about profit per year, or gross sales before costs factored in?
@DaveAllredTheRealBarman5 жыл бұрын
Hey Fuji, so to answer your questions: a POS system is the Point of Sales system, which is what the bartenders and servers use to ring in food and drinks for their customers. Legacy systems are older, outdated POS systems. There are much more modern ones these days. Next, when I refer to sales, it's always gross sales, not net sales or profit.

Huh. If he has “mega successful” bars… why is he selling a class? Lame.

Ummm no, this guy exaggerated too much! Or thats because he lives in California I live in texas so the numbers are at least half of what he said Do not go by what he says most of the time He might live in a different country or state
@DaveAllredTheRealBarman3 жыл бұрын
With respect Jezus, you have no idea what you're getting into if you think Texas is half the price of what I listed when opening a restaurant. It's going to take way more than you think it will. Good luck.
