I live in LA, $1500 can only afford a private room renting in apt or house, probably 3B rather 2B,utility not includes. Also my car insurance full coverage is $360 per month as a 7 year no accident record driver, currently i`m planing to move in NC for a less competitive job seeker market, you all probably can`t believe there are still many jobs $16 per hour in LA county(minimum $18). And grocery can cost $500 per month. And LA is the only city in the world that I can see at least car accident on the freeway everyday ! Thank you Teacher Milk introducing me a good city to move to.

I had never really considered the exact cost of living for us in Switzerland until your video sparked my curiosity. It prompted me to calculate an approximate monthly cost of living for two people(my husband and me) here. Based on the expenses you mentioned, our monthly cost comes to around 9,000 CHF, which at today's exchange rate, is approximately 10,392.85 USD. *Our only debt is the home mortgage, and it's not included in the calculation. I was genuinely surprised by the result and envied how lucky you are to have such an easy lifestyle.

I am a high school teacher and my best friend is a medical doctor. Both of us decided to take advantage of the magnet school programs that our public school districts have to offer. Here in NJ the average humble middle-class family still faces monthly expenses of at least $10k, with property taxes alone reaching up to $25k per year. A suburb 2-bedroom is around $4k a month. We moved from NYC to New Jersey because the cost of living in the NYC was even higher.

Thanks for making this video and other ones to explore options living in various places of the US. I live in the south part of SF bay area where price is insane, especially housing. Climate change is also real here when the temperature exceeded 90 for half of the days in October this year. I looked at our PGE bill and electric alone cost $600 in July. Can you share the mobile plan you are using? Thanks!

I’m surprised as I thought NC would have higher cost of living compares to Texas. I live in Texas and the base rent for 1B1B is 1400… and it’s even not a famous city. What stinks are all little things: a coffee costs almost 10 bucks ! Prepared lunch in grocer store (H-E-B for example) costs also min 10 bucks…. living in US gives a feeling of trading off time vs money. It is possible to live low budget but you gonna engage yourself for almost everything ; if you want to delegate any service so that you can focus on other stuff, those viable costs are the real monsters here.

$250,000 for an apartment in NYC was ten years ago maybe. Today I think $350,000 or $400k. And same goes for suburbs. A normal house will go for $400k in Suburban USA. too much Money generation by Fed and Gov't. They'd rather inflate everything. Can't deflate or else asset prices plummet, and thats all for the US economy.

From my experience living USA for 30+ years, lots of Americans live paycheck to paycheck without emergency money, most is due to their laziness or irresponsible behavior. Another reason people become poor, is government allowed business moved jobs to other country. But to allow government to done so many damages to American people themself, are the America people voted to this result.
