Something my dad learned in Israel. The eye of the needle is not a sewing needle it’s actually a small door inside of the large gate. They would make the visitors come through the “eye of the needle” with their camels. They would have to unpack the camel to squeeze through. That way they could not bring in weapons. 💕

It’s actually not true. It’s an actual needle that we know of, like for sewing. Joe Kirby got it wrong too and mentioned the correction near the end of his latest video. It’s the video about why God might be isolating you, and at the end he humbles himself and mentions some things he was mistaken on in the past, the needle being one of them.

Oh and had a later thought - maybe one of you have covered this somewhere, but as your elder by 35 yrs, here is part of what I have learned in raising my family. Always buy good quality and classic styles so the likelihood of having to shop, bring new things in, sort old things out is diminished greatly and really easy to mange. You asked (paraphrased), "whats going on in our hearts that keeps us from getting rid of things.?" I ask, what was in my heart that told me to be on trend in the first place? I made the decision to financially support my family by going with classic and quality - not just in outerwear but in interior design and landscaping. Hope this helps....

@@akkoss2331I think you can still get the Color Me Beautiful book second hand. I even borrowed it from the library! The 4 palettes in there are very useful, because you need to see the difference between the undertones in each colour. Theres other theories as well but i think thats a good place to start. Also think back to what colurs you were wearing when you have got the most compliments. Have a look in KZbin, theres at least one person talking about colour and she also merges that with how to determine what styles suit you best. It makes such a difference when shopping. I pass by entire racks if they're not my colour. I do sometimes branch out of my palette and Trinny is very good for working out how to experiment to stretch into something thats not really your colour, eg don't wear it next to your face.

The eye of the needle is a narrow gate into Jerusalem. A camel had to walk through on his knees. A LOT of symbolism to “narrow is the gate to eternal life.” The eye of the needle is how someone had to travel through after dark when the city gate was closed.

Diana, just for future reference, take a small piece of scotch tape and wrap it around the end of the yarn. It will look like of like a shoelace (flatten as needed) or best ever, take a tooth flossing threader and use that to thread any needle. They work great even for regular sewing needles. That's what I use. I did the scotch tape method before someone shared the floss threader idea with me. I also love what you wrote, so very true of what's important and what isn't.

Hi!! Thanks for the video! I appreciate the message and prayer! Have you ever heard of the ‘eye of the needle’ actually being a doorway? You can find a picture on google of a large gate blocked off and there is just one small doorway left. The camel would have to crouch down and bow his head, humbling himself to get through the doorway. I’m not sure if it’s accurate, but something I came across. God bless!!💜💜💜💜

Dianna have you seen the video or pictures that talk about the doorways through the city gates in Bible times? They were very short and narrow and it was hard to get camels through. They called them the eye of the needle. Hence it was hard to get a camel through the eye of the needle. 😊

Yes! This is one theory about the passage. Or that the Greek word for camel is also very close to “cable” (like what’s used in ships) which also would be as difficult as yarn through a plastic needle 😆 All possibilities! Thank you for adding to the conversation!

I was taught that the “needles eye” was actually a very narrow gateway into Jerusalem…. So Jesus saying about being hard for the camel to enter the eye of a needle would be that they had to unload the big packs off of the camel, they were too big- and it still had to maybe stoop down or something in order to get through…. Always made more sense when I though it that way… Our possessions can become to big and heavy and keep us from walking the narrow way if we aren’t careful… Would love your thoughts Diana!

Diana, I loved this conversation. That is one of my favorite scripture stories. I especially love Matthew 19:16 where the rich young ruler says, "what lack I yet?' That can be a scary question to ask specifically what we individually to change within ourselves. for that man it was his wealth. for me, it could be something else, and you another. Whatever the Lord's answer, we have to exercise faith in Him. I tried this once and was so worried I would have to do something really really hard like sell my house or something like that. What it was though was an answer of a small change I needed to make in my life. Nothing huge and completely doable. It was completing a small act of service for a friend. I know God loves and knows each one of us and knows our needs. Perhaps someday I will be told to sell all of my possessions but for now He is meeting me where I am and what is attainable for me right now. I don't know if I explained this well but basically Jesus knows what is best for us and what we need to improve each day and draw closer to and become more like him. I know if pray in faith, we can have the help we seek to strengthen our weaknesses.

No no! That blue looks so pretty on you! Keep it!! I think we have a natural tendency to be drawn to colors that look good on us after a while. Wear the colors you love and who cares. But it is nice to know what colors look good on us too, remembering it’s just a suggestion. Love your message hear though. Really thinking about this lately.😊

I think dark blue goes well with Diana"s blonde hair and blue eyes, maybe not so good with Dawn's hair color.

I have moved overseas four times. Each time, I brought a mammoth suitcase with me and mailed boxes of stuff to arrive later. Each time, I lived perfectly happily with what I had brought, but once the boxes arrived, I burrowed through them eagerly, wondering how I had survived without all of these things I had forgotten I owned.

I love Diana's quote ❤. I believe things of this life actually belong to God and we're to be wise stewards over them throughout our lives..rented or owned or borrowed. 😊

"It's exhausting being inside your head"....I shared a bedroom with my "blonde" sister who is 18 months younger. I understand. I acknowledge. I'm still laughing 😉 And my mom was one of six sisters who shared one bedroom with 2 full size beds.

We are moving 17000 kms, and we are choosing to sell / give away everything that won't fit in two car loads. It has been so cathartic, emotionally / spiritually decoupling from the stuff, and keeping only what we really value. I hadn't considered this in light of the rich young ruler but your thoughts resonated deeply. Thank you.

Diana, I don't mind the color of that top you're wearing! But if you're not comfortable, then get rid of it. But Dawn, I love your sweater/top! I thought this was a good video and encouraging. Thank you!

Seeing you talk about this issue of getting everything together and starting to take it to the donation center is exactly what I need to hear. Hearing you talk through these items and your reasons for getting rid of them is very helpful. We at home are sitting with our items doing the same thing. It’s encouraging to have a body double with the same action. I would love more videos around this. I have the knowledge of what to do, tips and tricks, which are great but it’s the heart ties connected to stuff and the next step of bringing it to take it to the center that can be hard. I love how you tie it to my faith. The strength of my faith can redirect my mind in blessing others instead of scarcity or fear of loosing a memory of that time where I was wearing that top. ❤ Your quote brought me to tears several times as I relistened to it over and over. The memories we take with us to heaven! The relationships! I don’t have to fear loosing those! 🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻☝🏻

❤ what you wrote about going home. Thank you, ladies. Just took 5 bags of kitchen stuff and clothes to Goodwill! Now I have room for my fall dish set in my kitchen cabinets. No more hauling bins upstairs. I will definitely use them more often this year. So that is a huge win for me! 🎉

I cannot verify this as a fact but I heard that the "Eye of the Needle" was the actual name of an actual narrow gate in Jesus's time. The gate was well known and a necessity to get through (like a single bridge) to one of the major cities.
@annievw5640
@annievw5640 4 ай бұрын
I have heard something similar. It was an anology that the ‘eye of the needle’ was a low gate as well. So a camel would have to get down to get through it. Meaning that we also must humble ourselves to enter the kingdom.

I noticed several months back that I own zero pastels in my closet, I don’t look good in pale light colors. Now that I am aware of this, I no longer stop to look at anything that color bc it’s a waste of my time to try on or purchase online.

I am not religious (lost it in the last years), but „travel light“ really speaks to me. Your freer to follow your own path, your less likely to act egoistic. It’s known that the more you have the more your afraid to lose it. It’s stress and stressed people tend to be unkind and people with fear of losing their wealth won’t fight for social equality and justice. And - even if I am not religious anymore - that was what Jesus fought for.

This was fun :) I have a tip I picked up that I believe is pretty neat that people may not think of with cardigans. I bought a long sleeve one and a short sleeve that I can wear both as tops alone and also over top of a blouse as well. You can pick your appropriate style neckline you prefer. This gives you options in wearing it! Thank you for your tips too!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE what you wrote Diana!!! So very true. I have said often, "Life is Fleeting." I love your analogy here. I'm much older than the two of you (more like your mom's age) but I gain so much from both of you, and love you both. Dawn, it used to bother me a bit when you would say, 'I love you' to all of us out here, because you don't know us, but I get it... Christian love and love for those around you. I love to listen to you both, and especially like to watch your interaction with each other. Thank you both for your willingness to share. God bless you both and your families. Love from Iowa.
