I absolutely love this saying since I found it! I worked in the autism program at my children's school and later with children the school system classified as having severe behavioral issues. A vast majority of children displaying difficult behavior were acting out almost as if to test those around them to see who truly loved them enough to stick around at their worst. It was this saying that I would remind myself of everyday before I would leave for work and praying to ask God to let those around me see Him in my life. The change I saw was amazing! All glory to God.

This is a misunderstood scripture verse in churches such as charismatic Pentecostal, NAR and word of faith. Typically taught that the devil is trying to steal, kill and destroy things in your life. This is not what it means. Jesus says in John 10:8 ‘All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.’ He is talking here about false teachers, ie. the Pharisees. You will note in John 9 that Jesus healed the blind man - if you read on, He then goes on to say in v39 ‘For judgement I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.’ The Pharisees said to him v40 ‘Are we also blind?’ v41 Jesus said to them, ‘If you were blind, you would have no guilt, but now that you say, “we see,” your guilt remains.’ So the thief in this is the false teacher, leading people astray - they are ‘robbing’ the people of truth. The result is death and destruction. Jesus is the gatekeeper, He is the way to salvation. As Jesus said - His sheep will hear His voice. I hope that helps clear up the incorrect teaching of this verse. I am learning to not read myself and my circumstances into the text but to realise it is all about Jesus and salvation - the gospel!

I find it interesting that the answer to the question about which church denomination people should attend focussed on how we feel in church (‘it’s vibrant’) and the connections with people. My answer to that question, to the person who asked is, find a biblically sound church where the Bible is taught correctly. That is the type of church you want to go to, not a church where the sermon ‘empowers’ you. It’s not about us, the Bible is not about us, it’s all about Jesus. It’s about God’s grace toward us sinners and Jesus is the Saviour for those who repent of their sin and trust in Him. He paid the penalty we all deserve - which is hell punishment. What amazing news for us sinners! It should be a church that correctly teaches the gospel and it is taught every week - that is what the Bible is about. The people and historical events in the Old Testament are types and shadows of Jesus however, are often taught by putting us as the main character. An easy example is David. In charismatic Pentecostal, NAR and word of faith churches, when they preach about this passage of scripture they will ask ‘what is your giant?’ and go on to give a message about how we too can conquer our giants - this is so far from what God wants to teach us about David and Goliath. Jesus is the greater David, Goliath is the devil, we are the cowering Israelites back in the camp. Another example is Joseph - when he uses the phrase about God meant for good what you meant for harm - it is a foreshadowing of both Jews and Gentiles being saved by God’s grace. Joseph went to Egypt and saved that nation as well as the Israelites during the famine. I attended charismatic Pentecostal churches for many years before God opened my eyes to the truth. I am so thankful and I am unlearning a lot of untruths I had been taught - hence why I come into this channel because I see so many women here who do not understand the Bible in its context, and I wonder if they truly understand the gospel.

Corrie ten boon’s sister said about a guard beating another prisoner. God help the guard. Corrie was shocked but her sister said that obviously the guard had something after him to make him beat the prisoner. I totally related to the put God in your relationship part. I didn’t have to wait a long time, but I was heartbroken over my first love. I turned to God every day and every night. He knew my desire to be reunited with my first love, but I also prayed for a man that loved Him first and would love me for me. He did not reunite me with my first love, but 9 months later he provided an unexpected blind date that met those two things, God first and loving me for me. It wasn’t easy, Even though we were the same religion, we had some different beliefs (not the big ones though). I came to love him over time. I would constantly pray God are you sure this is who I should be with. Why is it so hard sometimes? He kept reassuring me, and I said I do 16 years ago. Some days are still hard, but he constantly reassures me with my husband and things he does or says. I love him even more today than I did then. God has to be part of your relationship. I can’t imagine it without Him.

Once, I was talking to some people who felt they had done “too much bad stuff” to receive Salvation. I explained the grace of God and it hit me, mid-talk, that this applied to ME TOO! How freely I am willing to extend grace to others and how stingy I am with myself. It was one of those eye opening moments (a Holy Revelation for a nice churchy word) and I haven’t struggled so much with guilt since then! Of course, I am not silly and think it is OK to sin and stretch that grace as far as it will go! But I don’t beat myself up anymore and that is freeing!

If you have a house keeper, they can clean up the cooking mess! Candy can go. I’m a cookie fan. I didn’t think about the target trick! But the whole point of ordering online is so I don’t HAVE to walk in the store 🤪 With church? Life, Bible based, Jesus centered, and as in the book of Timothy, correct doctrine. But that can take time and spiritual maturity. Praying for God’s leading makes all the difference as well.

@debm37163 жыл бұрын
Andy Stanley has said, and I quote ‘though shalt not obey the Ten Commandments.’ He has said this in the context that the New Testament does not teach morality as being from the Ten Commandments - which is God’s moral law. That is just totally incorrect. I would be wary of any of his teachings - he is a false teacher leading people astray with teaching like that.

@debm37163 жыл бұрын
I would say that it’s not about denominations uniting, it is true Christians who will ultimately be united with Jesus. There are many churches that claim to be Christian and yet do not believe the gospel, they add to the gospel ie. Jesus died AND you must do good works. Paul clearly teaches against that false gospel in Galatians.

I have stopped all catalogs and flyers from coming to me in the mail (since they are full of stuff I do not need). However, I would ask to get on YOUR mailing list if you ever do send out a flyer that involves great experiences for the family to share. Brilliant idea! When I think back to my childhood, it is exactly these kinds of family events I remember and reminisce over. I frankly can't remember a thing I got for the holidays that had anywhere near the meaning that the events do, that have indeed added up to the happy story of my life. And that cannot be bought, and it does not become inventory.

Just finally finishing watching this video after 3 days, but just have to say...I got rid of Halloween buckets a few years back because we weren't trick or treating. This year we wanted to do it, so I found a unicorn Easter bucket in the shed and 2 used gift bags that worked perfectly! Nobody noticed! Also had leftover Halloween costumes so spent no money and brought no new items into the house. I'm ecstatic and the kids loved all of it too. 😄
