My advice is start leasing or paying monthly for a car now so that by the time you move out you have paid a car in full and that will be one less thing to worry about. Start looking for better options and start saving.

Best of wishes 😁❤️

Haha, that’s totally normal (the part about feeling bad). I always think it’s best to sit down and try to have an adult conversation with your parents about your intentions. Hopefully they’re understanding and try to give you solid advice. Make sure you tell them you’re not trying to abandon them and that you have a plan! If they want to try and control you with making you feel bad or cutting you off then you might just have to accept it. Show your parents that you can do it on your own without their help and eventually they’ll come back around.

About how much money should you have saved up before moving out of state?
@AdultingShouldntSuck
@AdultingShouldntSuck 2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on a lot of different things like where you’re moving, do you have a job lined up already, will you have to go a pay period without getting paid when you’re starting the new job, will you have roommates, etc. The general rule of 3 times the amount of rent saved before you move would still apply as the bare minimum, but If you had more that would be great. If rent was $1,000, you would want at least 3k before you moved.

Hopefully I can find a long term Airbnb to start at because I don’t really wanna pay the ~$1000 for rent plus 1.5-2x that for the security deposit. There is one I found where I’m wanting to move to in Broward County, then hopefully I can get my license and maybe find a camp site or somewhere to live in my car. My car’s also approximately $2000 to finish fixing up plus multiple trips. Car insurance in Florida is through the roof and I heard that gas prices are gonna go way up again, so if I end up in a normal house I might just have a scooter/motorcycle as my main vehicle.

Having a plan is 80% of the battle and it sounds like you got that covered. If I could go back 15 years, I would have purchased a trailer/camper and lived in that! Even if you had to get a loan for it it would still be cheaper than rent. You typically have to pay a monthly fee at the RV parks, and sometimes they have rules on how old your trailer can be . . . So keep that in mind , but in like 5-10 years you’d own your trailer and youd spend less on than then rent.

I work at a job that does $15.50 an hour, and am planning to become a billingual tutor that pays $16-$30/hour. Would you think 10 grand is a comfortable amount of money to save up for? I do not have many physical items either, so it wouldn't be difficult to actually move out either.

@@AdultingShouldntSuck Portland, Beaverton, or Tigard would all be pretty good options. I like the area due to the people that live there and the actual area (Wildlife, Forests, Weather, Etc.). I have a lot of friends that share the same hobbies as I do in the area and it would be a pretty good option for me, though I've barely started looking at the cost of apartments or places to live. I also keep a few different small animals like dart frogs, and a few small lizards, which are the bulk of my concern. Since they are small I don't think that they would really cause any issue with the landlord or anything. I know they are mainly concerned with animals that can damage the building - like dogs and cats and birds - but mine can't do that. I am still looking in the meantime while I save money and start to build credit as well.

9,000$ is solid, look into how expensive apartments are, if you’re ok with it get a studio apartment to save more The average cost of rent in America is 600$ You can score some cheap furniture from garage sell apps like “letgo” “offerup” “Craigslist” etc etc You can definitely move out with 9,000$ From my knowledge of money universally if you already have a car you can move out into a decent apartment and have enough money over just in case for a few months About 6,000$ is good 700$ for rent monthly About another 100$ for water/electricity/wifi Score the furniture piece by piece if need be, also factor in how you’ll be moving the furniture Got a pick up truck or know someone? Or going for a u haul? Factor in those things as well

I’m just recently turned 18. I am trying to get a job (had one but it was seasonal). I wanna save money and then move to Palmdale with my friend so I can see what it’s like to have to pay for all my stuff. I won’t be paying too much in rent because we’ll split an affordable rent three ways. My family wants to move to North Carolina next year an I’ll probably end up moving with them. I’ll save money for a car and pay them rent when I live with them. Once I got a car I wanna see if I am able to get my own apartment. Moving with my friend is partly cuz I’m sick of being in a crowded house in this town I’m kinda bored of. When we move to NC we’ll have a bigger house. Wish me luck guys 😄 kinda just planning for what it will be like when I move out in NC but idk when that will happen.
