You're killing it on the laser sales. Just really started it in 2022 and already at that number is pretty good. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to a prosperous 2023! Keep grinding.

Have you ever amortized the cost of a machine - or financed them? Basically - if you expect your laser to last 5yrs and it cost $25k, in reality it is $5k/yr. You can then calculate profits based on the fact that you might have purchased it this year and paid it off but next year it'll be all profit. That can help you see the real returns that you saw in business. It helps mimic the way you would calculate cost/revenue if you financed it over that period and paid for it monthly.

Glad to hear things have been well this year and taking some new ideas to grow the business into the new year. There is a local print business for sale, the owners are retiring and have been in business over 30 years. Would you say it could be a good business venture to buy? I know you don't have alot to go off of. Also, how do you come up with pricing? Say for something simple like business cards?

I’m sure you’ve already gone through this but I turn down a ton of t-shirt/ apparel work. Can you walk me through how you outsource that stuff?

As always you are very generous is sharing commercialy sensitive information, it dose help others, so thank you My Goals for 2023 are not to buy any new equipment and say NO even more than 2022 (beacause it has worked) I wouldnt beat your self up about not following up with customers. Sometimes its best to focus on what feels like a good use of your energy. Last year that was clearly buying laser cutters haha...maybe this year it will be outreach, but maybe it wont. You still hit your numbers.

Learning to say no is important. It’s a full time job to learn that one😂

Hi all. How do you outsource but still profit on the product?
@TimothyDSwieter Жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing. So when you said you made no profit, are you paying yourself at all to be running the business? Or all that was put back into your equipment and inventory?

Who do you outsource your roll stickers to? My sources seem expensive for a wholesale price!

Sub'd. Nice episode. Appreciate the insights/experience. You might add your sponsor's logo along the edge of the screen. Give them more love!

he did, he always mentions them in the beginning of the video plus a banner hanging in the background.

Honestly, I think you need to hire an office manager to do follow ups as well as everything else. You have too large of an operation to be doing it all by yourself & sometimes your Nephew.

Let me get this straight you did an average of about 40k per month. After all is said and done you stated that after paying all your expenses there was nothing left. Does that mean you made no profit? Did your expenses include a salary for you? If you did not make a profit and did not take a reasonable salary why do you continue to operate this business? You said you are going to sell the Canon-but that you could afford it but should not have bought it. How could you have ever afforded it if at the end of the day you make nothing. Also, the fact that your brother is your number 1 account is troubling. Frankly, what you need to do is get out and sell your products by whatever means necessary. If you are only looking to add 30k a year to bring your business to 500K you will still be losing money. You need to change your way of doing business. You will not make it if you just run the equipment. You need to sell printing,promo etc., Do SEO, or Google Ad words. Do direct mail. Join some business groups etc., But get out of that shop and sell. If you don''t do that, and I hate to be cruel,, just get a job because you are not building a business. GET OUT AND SELL.
@ttms Жыл бұрын
It's not cruel, you just don't have the full picture and that's ok. I don't have any money left over because all the money is being put right back into the business. While my business did technically have a profit, I spent it on growing the business. Yes, I can afford the payment on the Canon and it does make a little money. The problem is I don't have time to get out and sell. I know that, it's currently something I'm working on.

You need to bite the bullet and hire someone so you can promote your business.
