People who say money isn't important: - From a Generation where a house cost $48 - Will inherit a house from a relative - The ones who have plenty of it and forget - The ones who were never without it
@TehGhostWhoPlay
@TehGhostWhoPlay 2 жыл бұрын
sound like you're just making up strawmen or stereotype that dont actually exist. no houses cost 38 dollar and even it did it those 48 dollar would probably be worth more today considering inflation. Inheritance isn't something that bad and i dont see why anyone should be ashamed of it. Sure they are have plenty of it but that must mean that they must have experienced it first hand right? We often spend most of our life chasing thing we think will make us happy because we simply don't own it but like aperture said once if you own it that happiness will dwindle. You don't have to be without money to actually experience unhappiness or the null effect that money has on your happiness. After all you can have all the money in the world but if you can't exactly choose how to spend then it nothing more than a piece of paper you need to survive. Before you begin to accuse me of being a rich guy or kid who live with his parent i m actually living in an apartment and no i don't have any expensive luxuries other than a phone, video game console, and maybe entertainment depending on if i can afford it. My only mode of transportation is really just public transportation or i just use my electric skateboard that can't really go far out but it helps a bit in the end. Yet i can safely say i feel happy because i have a goal to achieve and i dont believe money will accomplish it, sure more money would be nice and it will help me complete my goal quicker but to me it feel like it will make my goal matter less in a sort of way. I dont know that just my 2 cents

@@TehGhostWhoPlay Like that’s great and all, but this entire platform is filled with money makers and chasers, the video is filled with ads and has a sponsorship, and every person innately seeks out money. No, you do need money to be happy. More money basically leads to more happiness, because it leads to more time and resources. And I mean real money like a huge stock portfolio, not life wasting jobs that destroy you for slight profit. Yes at some point getting even more money is unnecessary, but you definitely need an impressive amount to be happy without feeling like shit. Money means you can hold a relationship properly even with a mediocre personality, as your partner doesn’t have to worry about anything and they have time to accept you. Money means you can start a family, change the world, and live independently from others aside from who you care about. You can be happy without too much of it, but without proper money (ex. company) you’ll always be behind and never be able to attain proper happiness with many regrets in your life (why did my relationship fail just to work at this stupid job, why didn’t I take care of my children, why did I give up being a writer, etc.)

@solanumtuberosum6133 2 жыл бұрын
@@TehGhostWhoPlay It’s hard to ignore that white middle class people who grew up in the 50’s and 60’s were financially privileged. If you look at the actual question the video asks, it’s not whether money buys happiness or not. One part of accepting things that are out of control is acknowledging them, so we have to recognize the ways money limits our potential as a generation. It’s all relative, but we do have the past to show relation.
@TehGhostWhoPlay
@TehGhostWhoPlay 2 жыл бұрын
@@solanumtuberosum6133 sure they were finically privileged but in return we gotten better and faster technology than they can ever dream of. Our jobs were made less dangerous and much more easier with the introduction of personal computers and phone. Sure I agree but there are people who have too much dependency on money bringing happiness instead of searching for any other source of happiness that isn’t a materialistic need. Sure you need money to grow a child, you need to have a marriages, and you need money to support a family. But when you force any source of happiness to be involved with only money you will cause yourself more harm when it gone. Like for example someone told me you can hold a relationship with a mediocre personality but with a lot of money. Isn’t that a bit sad or rather empty? Money is holding a relationship down meaning that relationship will be destroyed when that money is gone.

"Remember, money is a resource. If you have too little of it, you are always in need of it and it gains too much significance in your life. If you have too much of it, then you spend your life protecting it, managing it and keeping it away from other people. Indeed, in this situation, other people’s approach to money is a constant interference and can endanger your life and make money far more of a burden than it would be otherwise. That is why the rich are generally dominated by their relationship with money. Yet, the poor are also dominated by their relationship with money. Here it is important that one seek to develop a meaningful balance." A quote from one of my favorite books entitled *Wisdom from the Greater Community, Book 2* - Chapter 22: Money.

I know money is important, especially in America but at one point a couple years ago I stopped caring about money, stopped caring about material things. Sure I still have to go make money but I only work and make just enough for my absolute needs and the rest of the time I travel the country. I can 100 honestly say that I am HAPPY. Sure I don't have much, I have almost none of the comforts or securities that most of you guys have but what I do have is tons and tons of life experiences. I dont spend my life working I spend my life LIVING. And it's beautiful. These past 2 years I've climbed 14ers high in the rockies, I've stared in awe at the redwoods towering over me, I've swam in all 3 oceans bordering the country, I've got to live and see what life is like in most major cities, etc. Sometimes when im alone I think "what if I just stop this and get a regular job and a home etc" and then I end up doing or seeing something amazing and I realize I can never go back. You realize everything is relative. Whether you make 500k or a million a house is just a house, a car is just a car a watch is just a watch. What I found to bring more Joy earning more money is a purpose bigger Than just earning money to self indulge. Earning more money to give away more money while maintaining a budget to live well below my means brings more purpose and more joy. To give bigger tips, to pay for someone groceries, to donate money to a worthy cause this is what brings joy. To increase the well-being of humanity through your labor.

The correct answer is however much is required in your area to purchase property in your area, build a home on that property, and have that home equipped with a geothermal closed loop heating/cooling system as well as solar pannels and enough battery walls to remain mostly off grid if not entirely. In the unlikely event you have enough land and can afford to also build a wind turbine do that as well. If you have enough to meet those conditions auto bidder can sell your excess energy back to the grid and can replace the need to work or at least significantly offset your necissary income to be more sustainable. So as a rough estimate without actually knowing prices in your specific area... about $500k give or take. $500k and you can essentially retire or shift to something that is only part-time and actually have a life.

Money is definitely not the most important thing but it can make you happier. the times I've felt shame all day long because I'm not dressed the way I'd like to or the times I've been out and I wanna get something to eat and I can't. the times my mom has cried because she can't meet our basic needs and it hurts so much seeing that because I don't blame her or hate her for it. it's very difficult and there is a lot that money can give you. it's not the MOST important but it's VERY Important.

You just made me cry with this episode, that is, when you talked about experiences. I have a really close friend who comes from a far-away city, and today was his last day with me for this year. Due to the whole pandemic thing, we were meeting after 3 years, and he just stayed here for this week. I can't believe this time passed so quickly. The sad part about it is, that he only came here, to my town, because of our friendship. He could have easily chose not to, but he didn't do so. And I couldn't even meet him today. I was so mixed up with my own problems (My phone and PC decided to malfunction simultaneously, then my house almost burned down), that we could only talk for something like close to half an hour when he told me he was leaving. I will surely miss him. Tomorrow at the crack of dawn he leaves. I just hope we can say a final goodbye tomorrow, and that he returns early the next year.

The amount of money you need is dependent on the local conditions (prices, taxes, resources etc.). But the average amount needed for a fulfilling life is having enough to cover your daily needs to get a roof over your head, clothes, food, health care, and all the other stuff you really need, and to pay for the other daily expenses you have like bills and taxes. Besides that it's good to have a security buffer tucked away for surprising expenses and for occasional outgoings. And finally there ought to be a moderate amount of money to spend on entertainment and perhaps even some indulgences from time to time. All over that is vanity. There is, however, an exception: you may also want to put money aside for a good reason in the future, like the schooling of your kids, buying a new house as the old one gets too small, a trip around the world or whatever.

people need enough money to maintain a roof, a full stomach, and good health, and that money needs to be provided with no strings attached. by virtue of being alive you are entitled to those basic dignities. you don't have to work if you don't want to; you can sit around all day in the peace and solitude of your private space. with that security, those who do not work will eventually start working or volunteering or otherwise start being "productive" as having their basic needs met affords them the time and space to achieve a serenity and clarity that leads to happiness.

This was about 90% of human history and encompassed about 30% of all humans who ever lived Then Everything Else since man realized plants could be induced to grow, animals could be kept for food and used to perform tasks and ultimately that if you burn a certain black rock and boil water with it, you can do things that frankly seem like magic all in the search of ever increasing desire for wealth and comfort. This has only been the most recent 10% of human history but encompasses about 70% of all humans who ever lived. And is the reason I all the way from African can literally talk to you wherever you are in the world with what seems like magic. But is really technological innovation driven by that very desire to obtain more wealth and comfort both individually and collectively. Nobody needs any money because we made it all up. At this point money is primarily used to bar access to critical resources from those who need it. Those who have hoarded wealth since time immemorial use it to consume more than any of them could ever hope to need, and have rendered themselves unsatisfiable in the process. Money only exists because we collective agree that it exists. It's nothing more than an imaginary friend we've matured beyond the need for; now we just look crazy, with 34 vacant houses in the USA for every unhoused person (~500,000). Such a situation is only possible because we think the amount of green paper you can get should dictate whether or not you can get what you need to survive.

But everyone needs things like shelter, food, water, and healthcare, and these have been kept behind paywalls for so long that people conflate their need for these resources with the idea that we need money for society to function and to engage with others. It's only necessary because we make it so. But there are other ways of organizing society that let you procure goods without having to engage in explicit transactions. Work someone does to directly support the well-being of their community can be seen as implicit payment to society. In return for taking care of your community, your community takes care of you by guaranteeing fair access to its resources.
