The tune is different to make up for the losses from the restrictions from the particulate filter. It's been reported that the torque curves are different in a few cars.

Really pleased with this result. Ive just purchased an April 2018 registered M140i shadow edition, as it didn't have the GPF filter fitted (it missed it). I run it on V-Power, knowing that they do run around 360bhp is exciting :)

My M140i with remap and downpipes made 457bhp. Only 344bhp I think when stock. It was ridiculous how quick it was once rolling.

Mine was only 336bhp stock, but as anybody who knows cars & tuning will tell you, bhp = bullshit horseshit power, it's not an accurate measurement. Many dyno's are calibrated to read higher, so that when a car is remapped, the figures look amazing, and it gets them more business. After a map mine made 411bhp, and 576nm torque. And that was on a very accurate dyno.

M2, afaik never had B58 engine ;) Standard M2 has N55, and competition has S55 (twin turbo). So you could argue that M140i has a better engine, than standard M2.

The B58 engine in the M140i is not a ‘detuned’ engine out of the M2. The M2 runs a N55 engine which is a completely different engine platform (although still 3.0L and single turbo). The B58 in the M140 is completely different in nearly every single way.

Sheila Morrison Correct. The S55 is an BMW M evolution of the N55 for the M3/M4 and later the M2 Comp. Both still completely different engines to the B58.

@@xCobi Exactly, bhp = bullshit horseshit power. You can run the same car 5 times on the same day, and same dyno, it will give 5 different readings. The person calibrating the dyno, and adjusting/calculating the corrected power, can basically make it read what he want to. Higher (exaggerated) figures sell tuning maps, so it's best to take your car to a dyno company who do a lot of motorsport tuning, as they are more likely to give you an accurate reading.

My First car a 95 Golf 3 VR 6 AAA Stock got 192bhp instead of 174bhp. So i installed a k&n intake. Kat remove with stainlees exhaust and headers. Back on dyno got 196bhp. So sad😕

I took my M140i to Surrey Rolling Road and my average was 357 BHP. This was probably due to using V power since I collected my car from new in October 2018. Great videos, by the way, keep them coming!!

The comment about both M140s being different is no surprise, even 2 of your own dyno runs varied (not inc the 275 one). Its the way engines are, no 2 are identical in any car due to tolerances and each pull will make the engine perform differently - go look at a non smoothed torque output of a hub or engine dyno 😉 Dynos are not inherently accurate due to this and therefore anything within around 5bhp is just natural variance.

Regulations state that brand new cars be fitted with one. It's more the fact that you're taking it off that makes it fail the MOT (I think). Companies will sell you just about anything! Same as a decat pipe.

Problem is You could put the same car on 10 different dyno’s the same day and not get a single reading the same as any reading can be affected by multiple things Which is why a 1/4 mile or 0-60 time is a far better representation of actual output, which is at the wheels and being driven People get obsessed chasing Dino figures, mainly just so they can quote them in a car park of vlog Translate that to a track or fast road when it also comes down to the skill of the driver regardless of power

Typical bmw, underrating the power to overdeliver and make the customers happy ;) Btw not fan of dyno's that show crank horse power just to show higher number, the crank horse power is calculated and is not always accurate. It can only be measured with the engine out of the car in the factory where bmw makes them. Wheel horse power is way more accurate and honest way of measuring the power, as every dyno has different multiplier for the losses on the auto/manual box. Some people say 18%, some 15% so you can't calculate correctly the losses to calculate the engine power.

Absolutely pointless figure. The only figures that matter, are real world driving times. 100-200 for example. Dyno's vary figures too much. My car ran 336 bhp on a MAHA dyno, same dyno's used by BMW. Its only useful to calculate a percentage increase after a remap. You could line up 50 stock M140's all showing different figures on the dyno, and drag them, they'd all cross the line at the same time (traction dependant ofcourse).

When i was a kid i always thought a faster car is always better. But, that's not the case anymore when you actually have to live with the car on regular basic. 1 Series just looks and feels so cheap both outside and inside. Suspension, handling, road noise aren't great either. But, i understand why it can be appeal to a younger audience due to the cost of ownership.

Bullshit, I had a 750i, S6 C6, and c350 but the 140i is superior in its class and for its price. It doesn't feels cheap and it handles perfect, it is the perfect balance between daylie driver and sportiness and it is actually the best HotHatch on the market in this price range.

I had a Golf R, and I'm absolutely no way shape or form does a Golf have more character. My main problem with the Golf was that it had NO character. My M140i was just mental, and felt like it was always trying to kill me. I liked that.
