Wow some powerful info here that basically is new to me. I had both hips replaced 1.5 years ago~~ 4 months apart from each other ~~ not fun 😞 PLUS ~ I have PTTD of my left foot a fancy way of saying the arch fell. Over the years ( never any pain though where foot & ankle surgeon never wanted to touch it because of not being painful) this has caused a terrible problem though where my left foot points way out to the left as I walk~~~ so when I do, it looks like a cross between a chimpanzee & Hunchback Of Noterdame lol lol although not funny at all it is the PITS. I was told by a great foot and ankle surgeon recently that he can make me good as new~~ just not a fun recovery using a scooter & all 😟 Thinking of having that done this coming Winter of 24/25…..Say a prayer please! Anyway you out all that together & after watching this valuable video~~ I believe that my slight out of breath feeling taking step after step or walking up hill has caused this short of breath because Cardiologist & Pulminologist say I’m fine. So I bet at 72 my problem is basically SARCOPENIA ~~ after the hip surgeries & my dang left foot problem I have lost muscle making me feel weaker as I walk. Darn it and I love to walk my dog ~~ still on my feet every weekend working for my Garden Center I’m retired of ~~ so I’m active ~~ but declining some due to muscle loss I just know now! I can work on that!! Let’s do it together! ❤ Thank you pretty woman doctor!!!!!

Thanks for your work and service to society. But why do some doctors advise intermittent fasting and avoid the animal base diet for longevity?
@planetguantanamo2 ай бұрын
because they are RIGHT!
@NerveDoctorsАй бұрын
You are so welcome. Intermittent fasting has MANY HEALTH BENEFITS and I do support it. It's always a matter of knowing 'How' & 'When' it's most appropriate for the person's health. Dietary habits are so controversial. You have one group saying the carnivore diet is the only way to go....while another group says you should follow the Mediterranean diet or a Macrobiotic diet, a third group argues...Keto is the only way to live and finally Vegans & Vegetarians will argue that's the only way to get healthy. Dr C & I do our best to always look at these objectively, without bias, based on not just the research (because research has been proven wrong many, many times in history) but also on anecdotal information, which is the basis for all research. So, which diet is the best? They ALL have merit depending on what you're trying to accomplish. The only thing that is black & white is that the body must function in a state of homeostasis...complete balance. That means the body does BEST with a wide variety of nutrients. Now, why do some doctors say to avoid an animal based-diet for longevity, well there can be some truth to that, however I do know A LOT of seniors in their 80's and 90's who have spent their entire life eating meat. Remember...this is Texas (lol). People who eat meat that is grass-raised and finished, truly free-roaming and organic, will have the best health. Those who consume meat products loaded with antibiotics, steroids and grains, well...not so much. But, there's a flip-side to this. People who eat only a plant based diet conventionally grown with tons of herbicides, pesticides and fungicides will be prone later in life to developing many disorders and diseases. As you can see this is a very deep topic. I hope I've shed a bit of light. Blessings.

This is a huge problem because the glucose binds due to elevated AGEs and it denature and destroys the protein molecule making it relatively inactive. That's why you'll see many diabetics with sarcopenia (muscle wasting).

What if you lost half your weight, and when you los it, you lost a lot muscle and cologen which left a lot of hanging skin. What can you do to rebuild the collagen and the muscle? Also I haven't eaten meat in over 4years. How do you incorporate it back in. Some of these foods are avoided for my blood type. I need help badly. I see to much skeletal as I look at my body and I'm not anorexic..
@NerveDoctorsАй бұрын
Hi there. So, you need to make sure you're consuming enough protein, to start with. That''s imperative, whether it's animal or vegetarian based. Secondly, to aid in rebuilding the muscle you must add in some form of resistance training at least 4 days or more throughout the week. The best way to add animal protein back into your diet is very slowly. Make sure eggs are a regular part of your diet, as well. Begin with small portions and make sure you're taking a regular digestive enzyme with every meal, along with protease which helps breakdown the protein. For collagen production I would highly recommend consuming bone broth daily. You can also take collagen supplements. Increase the intake of vitamin C-rich foods, and you can also take a Raw vitamin C supplement, Like Garden of Life. This is a whole-food vitamin C supplement. Increase sulfur rich foods like garlic, onions, broccoli and cabbage along with nuts, seeds and legumes. Always make sure to soak your beans to break down the phytates and lectins. This will jump-start your collagen production and help you rebuild your muscle. Don't forget sleep is imperative when rebuilding your body. Blessings.

I'm with you on that. I'm 5'6" 125 lbs and 16% body fat. Nope, I can't do 50-60 grams of protein in one sitting, either. That's why I make sure I get in no less than 20-30 grams at my first meal of the day, because this will give me the best MPS (muscle protein synthesis) and then I spread the rest of my protein throughout the day. Research has shown that this is effective. I do talk about this later in the video, in case you missed it. Thanks so much for sharing.

The Protein content of Soy is higher than the animal protein. Isn't it?! Moreover, according to NASA, Spirulina - the Blue-Green Algae has much higher Protein content along with other nutrients. Just reminding you.
@NerveDoctorsАй бұрын
I love it when you guys are on top of your game. I planned on covering this in my vegetarian protein video but let's take a quick look. Yes, Soy does have a high protein content and it contains all 9 essential AA's. 1 cup (186 g) of soy contains approximately 68 grams of protein. But here are the concerns I have with soy as do most functional medicine doctors. 1. Conventional soy crops in the US are genetically modified so that they're resistant to Glyphosate (Roundup). 2. Consuming large amounts of soy can cause hormone disruption and estrogen-like effects in both men and women. 3. Most people do not soak their soybeans to drastically reduce their phytic acid and lectin levels, so as not to interfere with mineral absorption. 4. Most people consume highly processed soy products and soy protein isolates. I'll go into these topics much deeper in my upcoming video on Protein for Vegans. Next, I absolutely love spirulina and as a vegetarian, it's a regular part of my diet. Here's the challenge...1 cup of spirulina contains 64 grams of protein. however, trying to consume 1 cup of spirulina is quite the challenge. So, you are absolutely correct on both these issues regarding protein content but we also have to look at how easy it is to work it into the diet. Now there are always die hards like you and me that will do whatever it takes to be healthy and stay healthy, but that's not the majority of the public. Thank you so very much for sharing. It's truly appreciated! Blessings.

Dr. M: I have been watching your Neuropathy & Nerves video series at least for the last 8 months. Have you tried to realize the worst part in all of your videos? It is the pronunciation of the term, *"Peripheral Neuropathy"* . Why does your tongue slip whenever you pronounce this term? Do you do it deliberately or it happens by default? I just wonder if it is also caused by the Peripheral Neuropathy or any kind of nerve damage in the buccal cavity!! Whatever be the reason, I am sure you can cure this disorder being a knowledgeable Nerve Researcher. Perhaps nobody pointed this out to you that's why you never realized this disorder. Hope you won't mind anything and take up my comments in a positive sense. Best wishes to you.

Hello Doctor, my husband was in an accident and became paralyzed from the waist down. He has not been able to walk for a year and a month. His spinal cord is intact, but there is a bruise. The doctor said he needs physical therapy abroad, but I do not have the cost of treatment. He has been bedridden for a year and a month. Please advise me. Thank you for wishing to help me. I will write your number and WhatsApp.
