How much rpm can this mini bike handle?
Installed a Mod 2 cam, billet flywheel, 24MM flat slide carburetor, and a header pipe in the Tillotson 212-powered Motovox minibike to see how much RPM the stock rod could handle?

If you shim the crank taking some of the end play out it helps in preventing the rod from walking which causes breaks too
@mlindsay527
@mlindsay527 10 ай бұрын
I think where a lot of people run into problems with the stock rod when they wind it out to 6000+ rpm and hold it there for extended periods. The rod becomes starved for oil and seizes to the crank, then breaks. You mentioned break in oil. What brand/type/weight are you using for the testing at this point? A good quality synthetic (which you are probably using) should buy a little more longevity.

I just have to say that this frame style is my favorite. You can run them in stock form and stretch it as you get faster. Love the tank inside frame design, just seams to be well thought out. Great video too, keep them coming Black!! Oh yea change the springs, it has some more speed left on the table for sure

Really great content! Be careful! If that stock rod let's loose at 55+ mph you may get sprayed with scalding hot oil and/or lose traction from oil on tires.

Hey black make sure you check the intake valvespring height if you havnt already!? Many were machined too deep causing seat pressure to be way low on the intake only. GPS makes a set of springs to cure that or have a machine shop make you a shim was what i did. Around .090" thick is what mine took fyi. The stock springs are actually 26 lbs like the advertise so that should be good. I run a 265 cam in mine and rev the crap out of it without float hahahah!

Yes, thanks have a remedy for that I used in another video to get it to rev harder. Probably will try it in part 3

I have a Predator with 26lb springs and mod 2 with 1.3 rocker arms. It’ll turn 7500 all day long. The Tillotson valves are really long, like over 3”. You can shim up the springs and get more out of them. We need to put a scale under the drill press and actually measure the springs at installed height

@@Black66 I’ve got a head we did custom, bought blank Ferrea valves and fit them, it’s like a 30/26 valve combo. There was tons of room to shim. Haven’t run it yet but it should flow really really good.

In my experiace the Tilly hemi valve train is kind of heavy. Does good with lighter components and shims or better springs. Then you can really rev it. But with the stock rod I need the bike for more content so I'm stepping up slowly before Kaboom! lol@@peterchristlieb

Factory rod and piston will go alot farther than most think. We'd buzz them at 7500-7800 all the time. Big cam and springs w a 5-10hp n20 shot on e98 works really well.
