Thanks Sam, great video as usual. As for salary in the UK you have to remember that young people are really screwed by the government, the tax burden has become really excessive. Even the government admits the tax take is higher than in 1947, around 40% of national wealth. The taxes we pay are...car loan, road tax, mot tax, TV license tax, council tax, water tax, gas and electricity tax, income tax, national insurance tax, tobacco tax, alcohol tax, VAT on nearly everything at 20%, interest tax on over a 1000 pounds per year, shares income capital gains tax, excessive train fare tax, (manchester bus fares dropped, but only because leftist mayor fought bus companies for it, and the biggest burden of all the BORIS burden....we are still paying for him.....he was called publicly by head of british civil service....the disaster trolley....because he changed his mind so much and landed us with a massive covid bill which we have to pay, plus inflation around 8 to 10 percent official but really 100 to 200 percent for just above basic items. Look Sam, I'll press the record button on your camera and you in exchange try to exist in manchester for a week on average pay..I bet you can't!!!!!

I think the lack of success in interviews has multiple reasons. I'm sure in general many people - but maybe more so in Russia - feel uncomfortable about being filmed - after all, while your Russian is (undoubtedly) good and your attitude polite, these ladies have no idea who you are (in the sense of... who could you be working for). If I may be so bold Sam, and this is not throwing shade but well meant advice... I think as a gentleman of a certain age approaching ladies I would suggest that maybe having a shave and less casual attire may yield better results. You don't need to look like you've just stepped out of a bank's board room, but a smarter appearance might project a better 'vibe' - especially if you're holding a camera. There was certainly the feeling that some of these (oft well attired) ladies' answers seemed to imply you were asking for yourself, as if the question were «How much do *I* need to earn to give *you* a comfortable life?» Like I said, just an idea... good luck with channel in these trying times!

The reason that people are scared to speak to me is because they expect that I will twist whatever they say in order to make both them and Russia look bad! That is what foreign media does! By dressing smart and looking more like a foreign journalist it will have the opposite effect and nobody will want to speak with me.

@@SamsRussianAdventures I pretty sure you're right about the fear of being misrepresented. That's true to a greater or lesser extent in most countries. My hunch is that dressing smarter wouldn't do you any harm though 😉 From personal experience I can say, you get taken a bit more seriously, it projects respect somehow... like Shakespeare wrote «The apparel oft proclaims the man». But I understand, you also need to do 'you'. All the best! 🤞

You don't need to be polite with a stranger who break in to you private life. It's a part of Russian culture. Thats why Russians don't smile to strangers at the street. Accept it or gtfo. I believe Sam are pretty lucky he didnt ask some men. In such case highly likely he would need ER service (free of charge), in provincial Russia especially. I guess Sam hypes on such 'mini interview' videos but is very controversial behaviour in Russia. And it's direct 'cultural assault' in most cases. The only thing saves him - his foreign accent.

To film people if they don’t want to be filmed is a kind of harassment. If you ask them, they say no, then don’t post them. By the way, this would be quite polite of you to ask whether they want to appear in your resource or not first. And according to the Russian law it‘s prohibited to film people without their permission. Why don’t you ask this?
@SamsRussianAdventures
@SamsRussianAdventures Жыл бұрын
I ask them. May I ask a question. I’m standing with the camera in my hand and asking if I can ask a question. It’s pretty obvious. I post them but disguise them completely. Many people tell me that I shouldn’t ask permission and just film. There are always people who are unhappy in the comments, either they are not happy that I asked permission or not happy that I asked permission. It’s sad that the only thing you found from this video is a reason to criticise the content.

@@SamsRussianAdventures It is ironic though that you can see examples of old family taken 8-millimeter films on television and no doubt on KZbin as well from the 1960s when people took their cameras to parks and holiday destinations such as Butlins and filmed all these young smiling children on swings and fun fairs who are so happy to look into the camera and be filmed. As time goes on, cameras are becoming smaller and smaller and produce better and better quality images yet the whole idea of filming and what you are allowed to film has become such a political 'hot potato.'
