While you were on the walk, why didn't you charge the banks when you were in the two nights you were in hotels ? Free power, so silly not to use it 🙂

Great video message Mike. I'm finishing charging a power bank as we speak! Calm seas does not a good captain make!

Thanks for posting what went wrong and what you did to overcome. Mistakes are how you get experience and experience keeps you from making mistakes.

Yeah all sorted thanks. All power banks charged, most of my 18v tool batteries fully charged, other rechargeable torches/lights fully charged, jump starter fully charged, old battery from my 4wd fully charged in the shed and solar panel ready to go if needed. My 4wd now has a heavy duty dual purpose battery in it so it could be used to charge stuff if needed and the thing is full of Diesel so charging that way is an option as well. Our telecom company has a points reward scheme when we pay our bills and they're having a black friday sale so another 20,000mAh power bank is on the way. Not sure how many we have now but there's a few in the drawer now. Probably the only thing I like about EVs is that they offer a bit of energy independence if you have home solar etc but that's about it. After watching Jaguars latest ad I think I will go and give my dirty Diesel 4wd a big hug.

Good advice. Don't forget all the other tech you have at home with a rechargeable battery. Digital cameras, fans, torches, radios, drills, hoovers, toys, game controllers etc. Rechargeable batteries die quite quickly, if left discharged.

But do the car chargers work from the traction battery or the smaller standard 12v starter battery.. with the car *off* the inverter / alternator that puts charge back into the 12v system battery won't be running so can run it flat faster than many think with the car being half awake

Not into EVs but wouldn’t solar panels on your roof and an electric car be a smart move? If the world goes to hell the power will be out and petrol won’t be Available

Heat pump and home battery too. Green tech is great for resilience.

@@jamesbarker7145 Heat pumps tend to use a whole lot of power, you would need a very big battery bank to run it
