My mom was the highest ranked female in the world in 1984 and became a Grandmaster in the year 1992. This is the last game she won in Bern, the tournament where she got her final GM norm. Hope you enjoy! :)

Both of my parents were great chess players back when I was born 1954. So of course I learned chess at a very early age. Before I became a teenager my parents and other relatives were my only opponents. But life got in the way. No more chess, my peers play checkers. I'm 70 now. Spend a lot of time perusing KZbin... boring, till I found you! Now I live vicariously thru your chess channel thinking, "I coulda been a contender". Not! Love your show, this one about your mom?... made me "tear up" with shared joy! Thnx so much, for me, the late inspiration to play chess again... love your break-downs and your street videos. Hope to see more of that bushy haired kid, Jerry as he progresses. SUBSCRIBED of course!

Your mum is a great player. I’m now 68 and don’t play tournaments however my tutor was a famous Scottish woman player called Nancy Elder. She was playing chess and setting the bar for many future women players. Nancy was really a good player and a friend. A forerunner of women’s chess especially in Scotland and the UK. I wonder if your mum ever met or played against Nancy Elder?

i entered the chess universe after watching Fischer and defending champion Boris Spassky(who i nicked-named Sparky) go at it. Then strangely, walking home after school pass by curb side junk only to find the complete set of Funk and Wagnels encyclopedia. In the C volume i found the basic rules to chess, from that point on i never looked back. I was careful not to let pride and admiration cloud my mind. Made it a point to appreciate my competitors to the fullest degree possible. Very often they would inspire me to play deeper, even in the middle of playing a game. Sometime impossible things suddenly appear in the middle of a game neither player expected and that made playing even better. but that is neither here nor there so good luck always wish you and yours the very best.
