I personally love Mystery Inc. In my opinion it is by far the best Scooby-Doo series. It has character development, an overarching story, and pays homage to previous Scooby-Doo series, and spoilers ahead for people who haven't watched yet. My personal theory is that everything we see in the previous Scooby-Doo series happened in Crystal Cove, but after the timeline was reset mystery inc. starts traveling solving mysteries. So in my personal theory Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. is actually a prequel to the original Scooby-Doo. Yes this theory is strange and only kinda makes sense, but I personally like to believe it

That doesn't make sense. In the very first episode they basically referenced all the old mysteries as something they solved personally. And even made call backs to it in later episodes. They even used the old Robot in the second season as well. So the OG technically happened first. The "Evil Entity", also was responsible for many events in the first place. Sure, you can argue things repeat them selves post reset, but they already retained the knowledge on how to deal with it. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Instead of adding to the pile of "Scoob is garbage and here's why" videos, he talks about the excellent Mystery Incorporated which found a way to make Scooby Doo feel pretty fresh again without completely changing everything about it. Like the eeriness and unease a lot of the first two seasons had. The subtle things. lol. However, I really admire this show for simultaneously commenting on and respecting the older parts of the franchise. Though money-grabs are to be expected.

One of my personal favorite things in this show is it's humor! All the things that happen in the show (i.e. Fred somehow having learned to fly a plane, or Shaggy saying he's been stuck with mannequins for a month) are never really questioned, and everyone just accepts that these things are happening. This "random humor" works really well with the show considering the actual basic plot of "bad guy of the week" is already pretty weird to think about happening in real life, so adding crazy scenarios doesn't feel out of place, it just adds to the story. I actually laughed out loud at some of the jokes made in the show, especially since most of them were making fun of stereotypes of people, without being overtly rude, because the stereotypes were all extremes (the evil corporation that constantly killed the environment, the communist group of college students who were constantly looking for something to fight for without reason, etc). For me, this humor really made the show so much more entertaining than other Scooby-Doo shows. There are just so many great things about this show I love it so much!

This is the thing that disappointed me in the series, the fact that saved all the actual supernatural events till the second season. Would've loved to see lighter elements of supernatural activity as the series went on to keep it more consistent. Velma's dynamic reads very differently now that I know she was intended to be a closeted lesbian. She pretty much forces the relationship, pressures him to do traditional boyfriend/girlfriend stuff, and finds so many nitpicks with him, you kind of wonder if she's even attracted to him. Plus, there's also the joke about how she is more disappointed that the mermaid she befriended was married than the fact that she was a fake.

While an interesting interpretation, it's not enough to justify her poor treatment of Shaggy. Even if she finds a healthier relationship with Marcie, she gets no repercussions or get called out for her toxic behavior while dating Shaggy.
@giboit.4 жыл бұрын
It seems to me that she was more bi than straight up lesbian in this series. I think her problem with Shaggy comes from an idealized version of how a boyfriend should act/be (due to the fact that she never had an actual boyfriend before)but I do think that despite this she genuinely liked Shaggy. As for Shaggy, I don´t think he wasn´t interested in her but he is a bit more socially awkward in mystery inc than in other shows and movies, so he struggles to handle relationships and also trying to say what he wants (in other versions he tends to be a jolly person that can in fact interact well with others, even having love interest in some movies).
