I think it depends on the organization. If it's a blue collar city/franchise with that type of fan base, they want a certain type of player. What gets me is why do you draft that type of player and then unhappy when he doesn't change. You want him to be Stockton but he is Rodman. Both Hall of Famers by the way!

It reminds me of the time the NFL was fining Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson for touchdown celebrations. They wanted players to have the humble Barry Sanders mentality which is score and give the ball back to the ref it was about promoting the teams. The NBA was all about pushing the superstars but you will not get a Gary Payton or a Kevin Garnett and a Allen Iverson type of player to be the face of the league today.

That’s not technically true. He was silenced for simply being the character he his and his swagger. It was simply the time period he came in and city he went to, too black and not media friendly enough for MIL. A dad wouldn’t have changed the politics of the league. Ja’s dad can’t do anything. Klay’s dad couldn’t do anything but manage money. Bron never had a dad around. Your point is pretty flawed.

The NBA did not make Elfrid Payton cut his "hair". He wanted to rock that and it actually hurt his career. His hair actually got in the way of him shooting. If the NBA would of made him cut it, a lot of people would of pointed to this narrative that I'm not really feeling. If Allen Iverson isn't still complaining about image suppression in the NBA then NO ONE has a right because he got it the worst out of everyone and he never did anything wrong!

If they didn’t have some of these young millionaires pull back a little, they’d bring guns into the locker room or show themselves on IG with a gun. The NBA is a shield. They can’t go back to the free for all crazy 70’s drug league. But there are tons of NBA players whose swag is on full. If you want to play street thug/gangbanger, no Corp is gonna let you represent them like that. NBA fanbase is full of kids and families. They have sponsorship deals and partners that have images to protect. You can turn down your swag a bit for $30 mill+/yr. Time to grow up.
