Due to past injuries and tracking shoe life and injury trends, I ended up rotating running shoes every 200 to 250 miles. Foams degrade over time. However, I do admit I put in 1100miles on an Adidas Adios Pro and kept enjoying them, so maybe there is truth to the durability question. For better or worse, subsequent models didn't last as long due to the upper breaking, which stopped me from tempting fate.

@@mtldragon9860 Yup, the foam absorbs a massive amount of force (3x bodyweight) with each stride. When that happens, the shoe feels "flat" and no longer provides the support that it needs to. For me, this happens before I'm wearing through the upper. I ran competitively in HS and college, and folks hold on to their running shoes for way too long. You increase injury risk substantially by running in shoes beyond when you should, and I wish average runners were more informed.

Jordans is only part of the story. In Europe, Air Max has always been the trendiest shoe lines, but again I see more and more people wearing other brands (Hoka, On Cloud, Salomon, Adidas Samba). I also think trainers (sneakers) are generally a bit less popular than they were and more people are moving towards shoes and boots.

I have not bought nike ever since they got caught using a 12-year-old pakastani boy sewing nike shoes for only 60 cents a day. An Nike denied these claims until they were proven to be true. I prefer Alphafly 3 over Asics metaspeed sky paris or Hoka Rocket X2. The problem isn't NIke's products, it is its marketing. ON, Hoka have hosted several running shoe promotion events for my local running club, 5-6 times a year. Nike's, greedy, my skateboard sneakers used to cost me $30. Today, those same ones cost $80, so I just switched over to Adidas. LOL.

Nike then pivoted too hard in the opposite direction in smaller countries like New Zealand. Right now in 2024, the Nike app and online shopping has pulled out of NZ, forcing shoppers to visit Nike stores which have a very limited range of merchandise, while their ties with other retailers remain severed. I used to be one of their most loyal customers pre-pandemic, buying something every couple of months from the app. Now I haven't bought anything from them in years since the app stopped working in NZ.

Nike is still number one but this a great opportunity for rivals to take advantage of it, adidas lost to Nike the German national team.

One thing not brought up is the transition into hype brand. The few Nikes I still see in store have some crazy styling few people I know would want to wear.

Buying shoes online sucks. Sizing, fit and feel is difficult to get right between brands and models. So I either buy two or three of the same shoe in different sizes and return what doesn’t fit or buy one, hope it fits and if not deal with mailing it back for an exchange. For these reasons I’ll always go to a store as long as long as the price is less than a 5% difference.

Adidas is generally better than Nike. Nike shoes are too narrow, and size options are limited . The quality is not great for long-term use. I got more mileage out of my cheap shoes they are better quality and, most importantly, comfortable, something Nike is severly lacking. Nike is the new Boeing

Nike always stood for innovation, but with cutting on the design and development department of your company you won't innovate... Let it be a shot for the bow of other companies as well.
