Another big problem is that every time Nike releases a retro shoe, the quality of the shoe is completely different from the original. The build of the original is 90% better quality than the re-releases.

From a customer's perspective, the problem is that their product quality is in the toilet now. Due to past injuries and tracking shoe life and injury trends, I ended up rotating running shoes every 200 to 250 miles. Foams degrade over time. However, I do admit I put in 1100miles on an Adidas Adios Pro and kept enjoying them, so maybe there is truth to the durability question. For better or worse, subsequent models didn't last as long due to the upper breaking, which stopped me from tempting fate.
@jz4461
@jz4461 4 ай бұрын
@@mtldragon9860 Yup, the foam absorbs a massive amount of force (3x bodyweight) with each stride. When that happens, the shoe feels "flat" and no longer provides the support that it needs to. For me, this happens before I'm wearing through the upper. I ran competitively in HS and college, and folks hold on to their running shoes for way too long. You increase injury risk substantially by running in shoes beyond when you should, and I wish average runners were more informed.

This is precisely true. I always go to the store to see if I can find anything I like. Sad thing is, the selection in store for Nike is just so limited.

I have owned plenty of Nike sports wear but hate the fit of their shoes as they never seem to fit or move as well as some other brands.

What Nike is doing to hold on the market share is they keep sending out the old Jordan’s which is keeping the brand relevant.

Nike looks like it’s stuck in the 2010s. Adidas dominated the market the last few years with Sambas alone. For workout shoes, people have chosen as stated in this video. Personally, Nike is overpriced with seemingly low quality shoes. They look cheap now than they did in the 90s.

I tried working out in Nikes. And my shins and ankles were in extreme pain. When I shifted to hokas, asics or brooks, it made a substantial difference in performance. Nike are more of esthetics in my opinion. It’s a life style shoe.

The customer is always supporting the unwanted side effects when a major competitor is struggling. Always prefer competition. I hope Nike gets back up soon. BTW: i never understood Jordans, they don`t look cool (at least in my book) at best "classic" and they are everything but comfortable. Rigid plastic.

Nike's quality is horrible. I have friends that work at Nike and can get 40-50% off, but I rather pay more for Hokas, new balances, etc.

Literally. Me and my friends literally say the same. Why buy them when you could save and buy a higher end product. Also if you want something more comfortable at that price point, just go adidas or these other brands.

Another important reason why Nike is failing is because basketball is no longer the sought after sports to follow, instead it is soccer now, which Addidas holds most of the market share.

Nike then pivoted too hard in the opposite direction in smaller countries like New Zealand. Right now in 2024, the Nike app and online shopping has pulled out of NZ, forcing shoppers to visit Nike stores which have a very limited range of merchandise, while their ties with other retailers remain severed. I used to be one of their most loyal customers pre-pandemic, buying something every couple of months from the app. Now I haven't bought anything from them in years since the app stopped working in NZ.

Buying shoes online sucks. Sizing, fit and feel is difficult to get right between brands and models. So I either buy two or three of the same shoe in different sizes and return what doesn’t fit or buy one, hope it fits and if not deal with mailing it back for an exchange. For these reasons I’ll always go to a store as long as long as the price is less than a 5% difference.

Adidas is generally better than Nike. Nike shoes are too narrow, and size options are limited . The quality is not great for long-term use. I got more mileage out of my cheap shoes they are better quality and, most importantly, comfortable, something Nike is severly lacking. Nike is the new Boeing

Nike always stood for innovation, but with cutting on the design and development department of your company you won't innovate... Let it be a shot for the bow of other companies as well.
