But Nintendo decided to secretly screw Sony over because apparently if the deal went through, Nintendo's IPs or even the rest of the company will be seized by Sony or most of the collab's profits will be taken by them instead. So Nintendo humiliated Sony and left them hanging in public for Philips, creating the infamous Philips CD-i. The one with the infamous Zelda animations. In response, Sony went to SEGA (Console wars. remember?) for the collab instead. SEGA of America said yes but got vetoed by SEGA of Japan, a decision that SEGA is still regretting to this day. Sony decided to go solo, resulting in the Playstation we know today. Nintendo would be KOed from the console market if it wasn't for their handhelds Gameboy and 3DS along with the first Wii until the arrival of the Switch over 20 years later to finally compete with the PS series. SEGA's console department got killed off permanently.
