This was an informative video which prompted me to change from my polygon xtrada mtb to a giant escape 2 hybrid. I simply bought the mtb due to its 27 speed alivio components without considering other factors such as weight. I live in a city and ride mostly on paths so the heavy mtb was just impeding my experience. Eventually I just gave up and put cycling aside as it became cumbersome. After gaining insight I realised that I was probably using the wrong bike for my purpose and did my research to purchase the giant. Although it's only a 21 speed tourney drive train I really can't tell the difference in real life. However the 3 kg lighter frame and smoother tyres greatly elevated my experience

U r right. People buy MTB and do city riding. I guess the effort is more to push a thick tyre than a thinner one. For daily commute I feel a gearless cheaper bike is best. I too did the mistake of going for a Rodeo, watching U tube. Neither are the Shimano gears good nor is it easy to ride. I have now bought a Hercules battery cycle. Man! What a bike! Under 20K and so easy to handle, zips up steep slopes with a bit of pedaling effort and goes on flats like a rocket. Tire size is very thin. I feel people who want to commute to work daily could go for such an electric cycle. Takes around 4 hrs to full charge. I went for the gear less cycle costing around 17K.

This was very informative. What is your opinion on converting a hybrid to roadbike to have both options? I understand we'll have to look for a bike where the stem can accomodate drop handlebar. I've been told at the shop that for a Trinx free 2.0, I can change the entire stem and bar for aprox 10k and just the handlebar for aprox 3k (including appropriate break and gear shifter).

Hybrids are better for riding on good terrains. That doesn't mean MTB is bad. We need to put more effort than hybrid. Rockrider 540 is awesome 😎
