Just a correction as a soapmaker: they are using sodium hydroxide, aka lye as the base, not baking soda. it is scientifically impossible to make soap using baking soda since it's not alkaline enough. the error comes from the translation- he simply said they use "soda" in Arabic that in this case means (caustic) soda. and yes, all real soaps are made from lye- sodium hydroxide for soap bars and potassium hydroxide for liquid soaps. it may sound dangerous but they are completely neutralized during the saponification process.

I just washed my hair in a traditional Olive Oil Soup bar & its really calmed down my dry itchy scalp condition which various shampoos were all making worse, even the mediated ones. I still use conditioner on the rest of my hair, my my scalp only gets the olive soup, & finally my head is no longer on fire.

Its funny thats being said, because if they could somehow get this into the US market, like new York or LA, they would make a killing! People would pay 20$ a bar easily in those places knowing its organic, made from hand and a centuries long tradition, omg the rich people there would EAT IT UP! Im poor and im wishing I could buy it, I dont care if I did have to pay 20$ or even 30$ a bar. It could be my luxury soap 🧼 🥰

I'm fortunate that this soap is sold in a few local stores. It has a very mild, creamy, lightly earthy scent. It leaves your skin soft and very refreshed. The remaining aroma is somewhat milky and leafy. It has the silkiest lather of any soap I've ever used and is very gentle, even on the most sensitive areas of skin. Highly recommend.

You don't see western products made like this because western handcrafted products are nearing extinction. Same thing as is stated in this video - foreign made products of the same kind can be purchased in larger quantities for a lower price. I bought my soap bar recently, but it's Aleppo soap, even better than just olive oil soap. I use it daily for everything, shampoo, face, body, hands etc. Only using it on my hair, I cut the soap bar into 4 pieces. In 3 times only one small piece is almost already used up. I thought it was going to last longer, but I am so amazed by the results it's OK if I have to buy more, I love supporting poor countries & hard working ppl who do traditional work that is the best

You can make it. Every 100 grams of olive oil requires 12,5 to 13 grams of lye dissolved in 50 grams of water. Depending on the oil you use. Start with the 12,5. Like it? You're done. Too greasy and sticky? Next time use 13. Start with a small batch of 200 of 300 grams of oil. Use the cheapest oil you can find. It contains the most insaponicable elements and that is good for the skin. No need to use extra vergine. That is for salads! Let it cook (simmer) in a bain marie, or in a slowcooker, for about two hours on low heat. Use a mixer to speed up the process. If it becomes too thick, add a little water. Poor it in a silicon cakemold, and in a few days you will have this exact soap. Take it out, slice it, allow that to dry. Weigh it to see when it stops evaporating water. Then you can use it. It is safe to use after two hours of cooking and a day in the mold, but it will wear more quickly if it is still too wet. Good luck!

@@PC-so4lg You can’t really reduce the oil, because it would just result in less soap. Replacing some of the olive oil would result in an inferior product. Every oil produces different qualities in a soap. For example: coconut oil creates great lather, but also adds drying properties, which is why it’s never used exclusively in a soap recipe. Olive oil has one of the most moisturizing qualities out their. Try to find comprable oils, and you will start branching out into rare and expensive cosmetic oils. Their’s still lots of demand for pure olive oil soap, because it’s simply the best. The problems come when delicate markets get flooded with inferior trade products. The people will end up paying for it anyways, with diluted economic buying power.
