When I got into MTB like in 2007 the cloth were so ugly. Everything was like full of skulls and "Ride or die" kind of stuff. Today everything is more subtle and feels really evolved. After all clothing is still fashion in my mind. No matter the sport

On that note, in my opinion Syndicate had the best looking kit this past season and they kept switching it up, which I like. Yet, without looking at the bike, you would still always know there is a Syndicate rider coming by, because it had that specific style just with different colors and wild patterns. 🌈

It’s all subjective. Frankly, the last couple points matter. Designs need to develop MASS APPEAL. That’s where the real cash is (though that comes with risk) Lifestyle brand elevation. I’m surprised Fox hasn’t tried its hand on this, especially with its elevated pricing. Could fit a collection/series alongside mid-premium or luxury brands with some big designers coming aboard.

I've been MTBing since 1990 at 14 years old . I still own a 1992 Kona Hei Hei Titanium bike and a 1998 Specialized M4 S-Works. Both of these bikes are top speced for the time period, but as soon as I bought my first 29er , I wanted nothing to do with them. They now both have non aggressive tires on them as I use them for city/rail trail riding on a rare occasion. The Kona Hei Hei , ironically, is worth $1800-$2200 as it's a rare and collectible bike.

I agree. I don’t like the skinny jean style pants they wear and tight jerseys. Basically just one step from Lycra. They need to bring back the old moto style, the aerodynamics really don’t make a big difference in their times. There are much bigger factors that contribute to their times than what they wear. I think that’s just an excuse because they like wearing tight clothes now

@@MTNMAX88 slim fitting kits do make a difference for racers. I believe GMBN did a video with a windtunnel a couple months back, go give it a watch might change your mind. This is far from the standard I would like to see a Pinkbike Original content. It is just a Fox advertising. And as such it is bitter and sad to see, how less Fox take care of the own history and the sports history and the great athlets, that used Fox or other MX kits way before 1996. For exampe in 1994 raced Jake Watson from Team Marin in full Fox MX gear. Not only once. He did at the first Grundig World Cup and other occasions. He was a well published rider and role model for DH in the US. Some print magezine, what was the most influential media back then, made a how to ride downhill doubble page showing him in Fox MX gera. As far as I could find out, Fox was a supporter or sponsor of Jake. That Palmer changed Peatys mind about his dress code is a fine story. That Napalm changed a sport forever but we are going back ist an oximoron. Its not forever. And it was far from changing the whole sport. The sport changed Palmer. At his last World Champs in Are Sweden, he ended on the floor in the very last corner. Just meters away from the finish line. The iconic photos of that moment showing him in wearing lycra.

What is this nonsense? If there is anything that makes mountain biking look tacky and chavvy, it’s the clothing sold by Fox and Troy Lee Designs, as well as the energy drink logos. Anyway, you could have made a video about the importance of safety equipment without trying to pretend it’s alternative and “cool”. 🤦♂️
