One morning around 1993, after buying our house, the news said if you're a veteran and you've bought a house between these dates you get a rebate. When my husband came home from work, I told him the good news. He had already done our taxes, so he called the IRS to make sure, I was right. The person he spoke to said he had never heard of the new tax law. So, my new husband said I didn't know what I was talking about. I called the news station and said, yesterday your news mentioned the tax rebate for veterans who bought a home between these dates. He didn't know either, so he had to find the person who said it, and sure enough I got more information about it, and told my husband the complete information he needed for the IRS. He called them again, and gave them all the information, and they said, oh I guess it is new. I should have divorced him then....not believing me!!

@@robwigglezz944 I spent my time @ the Law Library learning the truth instead of watching NFL or NASCAR or whatever…… The instructions to the 1040 say that you MUST file for ANY taxes you are "Liable for" the mention of Code Sections "6001, 6011, and 6012(a) in the statement are misleading and DO NOT establish "Liability" for the tax!! Here is what the statement in the "Disclosure, Privacy Act, and Paperwork Reduction Act Notice" says... "Our legal right to ask for information is Internal Revenue Code sections 6001, 6011, and 6012(a), and their regulations. They say that you must file a return or statement with us for any tax you are liable for." (emphasis added) For illustration purposes I will include Code Sections 6001, 6011, and 6012(a) so you can see the misleading wording in them. Then I will include a few Code Sections that clearly establish "Liability" for their taxes respectively so you can see how easy the Code really is to read and understand when the IRS wants it to be..... 26 USC 6001 Notice or regulation requiring records, statements, and special returns. Every person liable for any tax imposed by this title, or for the collection thereof, shall keep such records, render such statements, make such returns, and comply with such rules and regulations as the Secretary may from time to time prescribe. 26 USC 6011 General requirement or return, statement, or list. (a) General rule. When required by regulations prescribed by the Secretary any person made liable for any tax imposed by this title, or with respect to the collection thereof, shall make a return or statement according to the forms and regulations prescribed by the Secretary. Every person required to make a return or statement shall include the information required by such forms or regulations. 26 USC 6012 Persons required to make returns of income. (a) General rule. Returns with respect to income taxes under subtitle A shall be made by the following; (1)(A) Every individual having for the taxable year gross income which equals or exceeds the exemption amount, except that a return shall not be required of an individual---.... Notice the three Code Sections mentioned in the 1040 booklet NEVER establish "Liability" or who is "Liable" for "ANY" taxes!!!!!! The wording is intentionally misleading and confusing to the layperson reading it. They merely say "Every person liable" or "any person made liable" without ever establishing who actually is liable for said tax. Let's look at some Code Sections that DO establish "Liability" for their taxes respectively so you can see how clearly the Code reads when the IRS wants it to..... 26 USC 5005 Persons liable for tax. (a) General. The distiller or importer of distilled spirits shall be liable for the taxes imposed by section 5001(a)(1) 26 USC 5703 Liability for tax and method of payment. (a) Liability for tax. (1) Original liability. The manufacturer or importer of tobacco products and cigarette papers and tubes shall be liable for the taxes imposed by section 5701. (emphasis added) 26 USC 4401 Imposition of tax. (c) Persons liable for tax Each person who is engaging in the business of accepting wagers shall be liable for and pay the tax under this subchapter on all wagers placed with him. (emphasis added) Now lets look at what the United States Congress has stated about the "Income tax"; noting these are the people who write the tax code and the laws of this Nation. Henry Bellmon Senator (1969) "In a recent conversation with an official at the Internal Revenue Service, I was amazed when he told me that 'If the taxpayers of this country ever discover that the IRS operates on 90% bluff the entire system will collapse.'" Congressman John E. Ensign-- "I cannot point to a specific place in the law where it says you must pay income taxes." Congressman Dan Burton- “You are correct in your assertion that the word “liability” or terminology “liability for income taxes” is not contained in any Section of the Internal Revenue Code” Aaron Russo: "Is there a law that requires people to file a 1040?" Congressman Ron Paul: "Not explicitly, but it's certainly implied." Aaron Russo: "Well implied by force; but is there a law?" Congressman Ron Paul: "I cannot cite a law, no, I cannot….you know if they think it's a law and they have all the guns; you know it's an authoritarian approach." {Taken from the documentary "America: Freedom to Fascism" And here is what the Courts have said Doyle v. Mitchell Brothers Co., 247 U.S. 179, 38 S.Ct. 467 (1918), states: "Yet it is plain, we think, that by the true intent and meaning of the act the entire proceeds of a mere conversion of capital assets were not to be treated as income. Whatever difficulty there may be about a precise and scientific definition of "income," it imports, as used here, something entirely distinct from principal or capital either as a subject of taxation or as a measure of the tax; conveying rather the idea of gain or increase arising from corporate activities. As was said in Stratton's Independence v. Howbert, 231 U.S. 399, 415: 'Income may be defined as the gain derived from capital, from labor, or from both combined.'" Id at 184-5 Jack Cole Co. v. MacFarland 337 S.W. 2d. 453, 455-456 (Tenn. 1960) "Since the Right to receive income or earnings is a Right belonging to every person, this right cannot be taxed as a privilege." US District Court Judge James C. Fox 2003 "If you... examined [the 16th Amendment] carefully, you would find that a sufficient number of states never ratified that amendment." Dwight E. Avis Head of ATF IRS House Ways and Means Subcommittee Hearings 1953 "Let me point this out now. Your income tax is 100 percent voluntary and your liquor tax is 100 percent enforced tax. Now the situation is as different as day and night. Consequently, your same rules just will not apply... " Daniel J. Mitchell Economist "Compare this (40% to 75% total local, State and Federal tax rate) to the plight of medieval serfs. They only had to give the lord of the manor a third of their output and they were considered slaves. So what does that make us?" Henry Kissinger "The illegal we do immediately. The unconstitutional takes a little longer." Every Communist must grasp the truth: "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.". ~Mao Tse-tung~ Sir Winston Churchill "Most people, sometime in their lives, stumble across the truth. Most jump up, brush themselves off, and hurry on about their business as if nothing had happened." Irwin Schiff…. “Organized crime in America begins with the Federal Government. The Federal Government has been literally extorting income tax money from the American public, also running the worlds biggest counterfeit ring because all US Coin and Currency is counterfeit. The Constitution requires it to be gold and silver. Social Security is a chain letter, there are no trust funds even though they claim there are trust funds. And of course the IRS runs the worlds biggest fence. All articles seized by the IRS are stolen from the People because they weren’t required to pay income taxes so it’s all stolen. Then they sell it and it’s all stolen so the federal Government runs the worlds biggest fence.” President Ronald Reagan, May 1983, Williamsburg, VA "Our federal tax system is, in short, utterly impossible, utterly unjust and completely counterproductive [it] reeks with injustice and is fundamentally un-American... it has earned a rebellion and it's time we rebelled.” Alexander Hamilton "If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no recourse left but in the exertion of that original right of self defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government." Federalist Papers 28 T. Coleman Andrews Commissioner of IRS "Were confiscating property now, that’s socialism, it’s written into the communist manifesto. Maybe we ought to see that every person who gets a tax return receives a copy of the Communist Manifesto with it so he can see what's happening to him." U.S. News & World Report May 25, 1956 Grace Commission "100% of what is collected is absorbed solely by interest on the Federal Debt... all individual income tax revenues are gone before one nickel is spent on the services taxpayers expect from government." Report submitted to President Ronald Reagan in 1984 Knowledge is freedom!!!!! Set yourself free from IRS Tyranny Long live the Republic!!!!!

My state tax office did something that was quite fun. They sent me a letter saying I didn't file my state taxes. I figured out that was true. What happened is they owed me a few dollars so I decided not to bother paying a fee to file it. So 5 years later they came to me and wanted me to file. I did and they owned me money just like I said. The neat part is they sent me a letter saying since I didn't file they would just keep that refund. But what would have happened if I owed them? Penalties, interest, and the tax I owed would have been due within 2 weeks.

Go online to IRS to retrieve a copy of your tax record/ transcripts. www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript Yes you will need to validate yourself with what you did submit the prior year or year requested. This is why its always important to keep a copy of your returns for a good decade. Anything beyond the decade mark is harder to access but not impossible. If you thought you were entitled to a refund the transcripts will show your submission in the left column and what the IRS determined in the right column. If You see a difference there are usually a reasonable explanation for these...you entered in withholdings in error, claimed a credit/deduction not eligible. Always check and read that year code book to make sure rules didn't change. Sometimes a person didn't report income from a job they forgot about thinking under the income threshold. The IRS will rely upon you to make an amendment/ send in supporting documentation. I personally feel its stupid that we as tax payers have to jump through all these dammed hoops. As well as getting taxed multiple times on our already taxed income: sales tax, property tax, fuel tax, license/registration tax, usage tax Taxing us on dying. Oh and JP don't forget to remind everyone to report any stolen property/income not returned within the 12 months as INCOME to be taxed. 😅
