oh this hit me at the exact right moment. I hear you about going years w/o releasing. My last official release was years ago. I've not been putting out enough content and I suffer from managing multiple interests and that 'inner critical voice'. One observation I've had is needing to become disciplined about time management. Even if its just one hour a day dedicated to specific tasks. Meditation has been helping with this, becoming aware of when different thoughts come into the brain and detract. Then sometimes you just have a bad day and we have to pick ourselves up too. Thank you for sharing your value with the World. You have so many gifts!

This is so honest. I'm dealing with perfectionism, it drives me crazy but working on it, though. Thank you for sharing. It's nice to not feel alone.

So true bro. I've been a victim for so long with this. The last couple of years tho I've started to truly understand this. And the freedom you feel when you do is amazing!!!

This video is right on time! Been dealing with this same exact issue. It was to the point that my creativity was severely being hindered. I couldn’t write or create because I didn’t even give myself the opportunity to be human and imperfect. I felt like if what I was creating wasn’t top tier then there wasn’t even a need to express. I usually don’t type paragraphs in KZbin comment sections but here we are lmao. Just wanted to say thank you for the reassurance provided through this video 🙏🏾✨

LXGEND, you are a kindred spirit! I've been dealing with this self-inflicted burden for waaaayyyy too long! Hot take 🔥Anyone who calls themselves a perfectionist is a liar! What I mean is, in practice perfectionism is no different from procrastination. You spend all your time working on what can't be done, so nothing gets done! People are taught to be perfectionists, to try to please others and never be happy with themselves. But even if we saw perfection right in front of us (which I believe we have sometimes) we wouldn't get it! You are absolutely right that we need to be more childlike. Children are so honest, curious and ready to learn. Adults are to proud to try anything new. I know I said a lot, but that's cool, because this is a topic I've been wanting to talk about for years! Thank you so much for making this video, and for being honest about yourself and your feelings. It means a lot to me! Much love💙 TLDR: "Perfectionism gets cancelled!"

I like your video. I got a bit tired of creating art, and music this year. I thought it was, because it was so hot outside. Now the winter is here, and I am focusing more on publishing my art, and music. I noticed that I have produced so much to last me a life time. It just happened. I wasn't focusing on perfecting anything I just kept on completing project after project. Before I knew it I had saved everything. I guess focusing on other things is much better. Creating is part of who I am. I'm on the driving seat. I will park this when I want, and when ever I please. Thank you for your video. I wondered at one time who would listen to my music, or anything else that I create, but I don't anymore. Enjoy your weekend.

Better than and Perfect are subjective opinions!!! You’re right it doesn’t exist it’s just perception!!! I’ve been training my brain to understand that logic but my problem is the application of it putting it into action of out of my own fear!!!

Just got a song mixed by two pros and prefer my mix better but don’t trust my own mix because of perfectionism….You definitely putting a battery 🔋 in my back to just let go of trying to make everything just right. Only two minutes into this video and I had to stop and say that this video is so real. Perfection doesn’t exist. I’ve also heard people say to set a deadline so you won’t keep going on and on with making changes. Seems like what we should be doing is set a deadline and do the best we can. When we get to the next song / project, apply the new stuff we’ve learned to grow to our own new level of perfection.

You are enough. What you do and the way you do it is enough. How you present yourself to the world is enough and those who need and deserve what you teach them appreciate you for it. Also the haters serve the purpose of letting you know that you're growing in the right direction and that you're gaining momentum on your channel. Kudos to you and the success of this channel. 👍🎉

Just watched a mixing tutorial where the person was subtly automating the volume of the vocal track for every basically every word, and while on one had im sure in the context of the whole mix, stuff like this really can add a lot to make a track great. But man, at the end of the day, what are we doing? 90 % of the people enjoying music arent saying to themselves, wow this track would really slap if only they hard panned that synth to the right and added more saturation to kicks... Like come on lol, what are we doing, making music to impress other mixing engineers. Spending 200 hours per song for what? I love learning how to make my mixes better, but this perfectionism feels like a virus at times.
