To be fair Tartarus had special rare floors occasionally and (while not a total banger) music that evolved as you went further in, original mementos had neither of these making it honestly worse. Good thing in p5r mementos took the best of both and it worked

The Omni Blade Tartarus was honestly 50 times worse and they made it much harder and the way it’s designed is just well I’m not a fan of it. At least I get the silly dialogue and better music ost changes in P5R. And Vanilla at least has the former. Oh yeah and I get to run over monsters with a cat-bus!!!

Navel Warfare sometimes when you go to a different floor,you can check the platforms and there may be vending machines which you can break and it will give you sp restoring items,usually the vending machines are hidden behind machines and you can look for it with the third eye ability

Quick fun fact, it's not a vending machine. It's a fare adjustment machine. When you use trains in Japan, the cost is based on how far you're going. You tell the ticket machine which station you want to go to but because of train transfers, your ultimate train stop destination may not be a choice in the machine. So instead of purchasing separate tickets, you ride the first train, do your transfer and then at your destination you put your ticket into the fare adjustment machine you pay the additional money for the extra distance you went. That's a bit of a simplistic explanation.

Honestly I feel they fix a lot in royal, while I myself didnt find mementos all that bad in vanilla I can see why people didnt like it, hell I spent way more time in mementos in royal than I did in vanilla just because how much fun it is to even grind there now, I love the solution to Ryujis insta-kill, I didnt know if they'd changed it so I was kinda reluctant to get it so quickly but I did and I thought it was broken or something because I never got an insta kill with it because I thought like in the original you just had to jump an enemy to get it, but I was so happy when I found out that not only is it optional to insta kill by just running into enemies but it also gives you experience, items, money and personas. Also love seeing that awesome animation of joker just styling after an on foot insta kill. All in all it really feels like they wanted to focus on making the way the game plays even more convenient and quick in royal, Its such a small thing but i just love the fact that you can dash outside of the metaverse in royal.

Dude chihaya’s one of the best confidants in the game From the top •cute as hell •good introduction •can help increase social stats •increases money from all out attacks (ryuji’s dash attack counts as an all out attack) •can increase confidant’s so you can advance them quicker (this is very very very helpful in the end game where your trying to max out every confidant) •can manually trigger a fusion alarm •can show you all the skills a confidant can give you(ok tbh never used this one the internet exists) And can show you the anwsers to in confidant’s and thats only one character Thats not to mention others like kasumi yoshida iwai and especially ann and ryuji

Morgana doesn't make you sleep as much as social stats are "easier" to grind out, but they drastically raised the thresholds needing to hit each social stat. So it's not necessarily "better" IMO from that perspective, it just adds a ton of extra filler time to hit social stat thresholds.

Honestly I never had a problem with Mementos in the base version but that's because I would always gather up a bunch of requests and take care of everything between dungeons in a single day, followed by a massage from Kawakami (best girl, fight me). Unfortunately I wasn't keen on hunting for the stamps, it wasn't bad near the beginning but the more that got added into each new area made hunting for them a complete chore, it wasn't about exploring to try to find them, it all came down to going up a level and clearing out the map, then going down a level and clearing out the map, then going up a level yada yada yada. It was so monotonous and is the only complaint I actually have about changes made to Royal, even the Change in Okumura's boss fight wasn't that bad, at least it was challenging this time around.

June 18 and September 6 are great times to go to Mementos, since you are free in the day but not at night. In the latter case, I was able to do up to 11 requests on a single trip on some playthroughs.

Super late, but abusing Futaba's Mementos Scan is actually more efficient than clearing out levels for stamps. Sometimes, stamps might not spawn on floors and you might end up missing ones that do spawn, so it's more efficient to go up and down floors and make Mementos Scan trigger. Maybe I just have good luck, but it helped me out a lot at the end of the game.

One of the things that broke the game in my second play through was upgrading items first in Mementos. Not only does it give you more items to sell, it also gives you extra materials as well as SP recovering items when you break open the atms or whatever on the entry station.

My theory for what Jose is is that he’s a velvet room attendant in their infancy. He has the same yellow eyes, he’s trying to learn about humans under orders of someone else (I think either Igor or Philemon), and he has powers over cognition, albeit very limited. He could represent a metaphorical ‘caterpillar’ that’s just hatched out of its egg to the ‘butterflies’ that are the velvet room attendants.

I wish they added a security level to Mementos as well, so that Ohya's confidant wasn't completely useless in it. It's already almost useless in Palaces as it revolves entirely around the least significant mechanic in the game... As long as you're careful you're never gonna have any issues with the security level, regardless of confidant abilities.

ryujis instakill combined with the new music made mementos a wonderful experience, in the original game I avoided it so heavily that when I had to reach the depths, I spent hours and hours slowly making my way down from like the halfway point, fighting every enemy one at a time, god that was awful

Another thing they added to Mementos: Deviations. They appear randomly while you're exploring and they're somewhat rare to encounter, but they spice up the exploration a lot. Some areas can turn completely dark, some areas can make you sink into a lower one, and some can summon The Reaper at the very start. I shat myself when I heard the chains rustling directly after getting in the Monacar. Also I don't know if it was in P5, but when I was playing Royal, I found that you can rub/press the touchpad during Mementos and it'll make cat noises.

Something to note about the Fusion Alarm making you gamble on the malfunction with the alarm-boosted Persona. It actually doesn't! You can come back during the next Fusion alarm to get the benefits of using an Alarm-boosted Persona and the benefits of the Alarm upgrading skills randomly! The random boost is also determined when you fuse, just like skill inheritance gambling is, so you can save outside the Velvet Room then rock on in and reroll until you get Agneyastra at level 30 or some nutso shit.

I agree, with the strength thing I got barrong on my second entrance of mementos to have access to invigorate 2 before the third palace, it got invalidated by the silly amount of money I had to buy three sp adhesive 3s by the third palace where I had seth for conashiro but that's beside the point. In my third entry of mementos before I entered the forth palace I'm working on my third level 99 persona with max stats in everything and I have 2 more planned before I even leave to enter the 4th palace for the first time. Haru is going to be so under leveled compared to everyone else her forehead is going to be dwarfed by the stats of any of my party members alone.

One of the first Personas I got from a fusion alarm was a Tsukiyomi with Victory cry, Curse Master (50% more curse damage dealt) Spell Master (25% spell damage) and both HP and SP reduction skills. I didn’t need to switch Personas for the entire game once I got this Tsukiyomi

Also I would like to add something, since not many people know of this. Jose's mementos bonus can help with items BUT what they didn't know is you can farm SP items in mementos. You sometimes saw fare machines at the beginning platforms , smack them you get snuff soul, chewing soul or soul food. But the amount varies depending on your item count. You hardly notice them since they meld so well in the background. Once you see them using 3rd eye, or see them once you can spot them immediately. Also I'd like to argue about Chihaya's perks, aside Money reading which Ryuji's insta kill counts as an all out attack but her celestial reading makes you trigger a fusion alarm and also increasing on how often you get fusion alarms.

Yeah, the BGMs for each layer makes Mementos much more pleasant to drive through. To be honest, though, a lot of people loved casualling through the original Persona 5 and if Vanilla hadn't been so popular, Royal would have never happened. ;)

Lol don’t worry man I subscribed . listen I love the new changes honestly I really do but I found myself wayyy too broken early in game. I wish things had been a bit more balanced and not as easy cause oh my god if you just wanted to farm it wouldn’t take long at all! I also wish that the new part of mementos was something you could explore on your own without being forced to cause of story reasons in the third semester. That kinda annoyed me but they could have made it much longer!

I've compared my experience in P5R Mementos to the experience of playing solitaire. It's slow-paced, relaxing, and a lot more fun than it should be. Having completed P5R once already, I'm looking forward to going back and 100%ing it, but I'm REALLY excited to go back and to do Mementos over, now that I have a better understanding of the game. ...I'm also looking forward to completely overpowering Neko Shogun to go alongside Arsene, Satanael, and Yoshitsune. I love that goddamn cat, and have no reason why.

"SPOILERS" There are so many things to praise about royal,however i think its biggest achievement was maruki,i have played the persona series in its entirety and i feel that the series was lacking in terms of vaillains dont get me wrong nyarlathotep,adachi and kamoshida were great villains,but i wanted a villain that made you think a villain with nobel goals,i was hoping akechi was that in the original game and was incredibly disappointed when he was just another evil villain,thankfully maruki solves this problem,they did an incredible job fleshing him out and his finale was probably some of the most epic emotional rollercoaster i have ever had in a game.

Also if you use the golden persona to power up one of your others by hanging it just gives them a straight stat boost, letting you get 99 in all stats for all personas with enough patience, and with chihiyas celestial reading fusion alarms go off more often, so it goes even faster

Why does it say in the tutorial for negotiation in the new one that when you already have the mask itll "grant xp to YOUR persona even when NOT EQUIPPED implying arsene i would guess? Does this mean its worth saving arsene for xp or something in royal?

The Okumura boss fight, tho was so bad I can’t believe they had the stupid idea to do what the did every time I was stuck at those green robots for 25 minutes then I realized I was running out of time, let myself die, rinse and repeat for 3 hours. They just wouldn’t die within 2 turns for me. And I had no problem with Wakaba or Sae, so why did Okumura take 3 hours? Right because he sucks worse than in the last game. BUT, otherwise this game improves practically everything for me. It’s more fun, more stylish, and while still holding a challenge, it makes everything more easily accessible if you know what you’re doing and it’s rewarding

Finally someone recognized how boring Mementos is. That's the main reason I hate Persona 3 too: Tartarus is basically Mementos, but instead of being a side dungeon it's the MAIN ONE.

as a pokemon mystery dungeon enjoyer, mementos was great in P5. Mindless grinding in a jrpg seems normal.
