100%. And fear is the mind-killer. The fact is though, that we only create problems and worries in our own minds. The reality is completely neutral and it (along with other people) could care less about how you feel and think. This is why it's important to stay indifferent to most things in life and do not take it so seriously. Are you going to live with fear in your heart and mind, or are you going to live freely with love and abundance? It's really up to you at the end of the day, nobody else can decide for you.

It's not selfish to want to be acknowledged.
@bellabong88622 жыл бұрын
@@Yusa_Beach That's true. It only hurts to not be acknowledged, though, when we give it a negative meaning about ourselves (take it personally). The other day after dropping my daughter off at work, I was in a hurry and drove off quickly. That evening, my daughter asked why I ignored her co-worker when she waved at me. Fantastic introspection on your part! I came to this same realization over time regarding many things: giving a compliment, giving a gift, genuinely apologizing to someone, etc. Your intentions in all these must be geared towards the benefit of the recipient. If you get upset if they don't accept these things "the way you expected or wanted them to" then you weren't truly doing them for the recipient in the first place, you were doing it for yourself. (so you feel good, so you can feel superior or have them owe you in the future, or so you could feel like all was forgiven and stop feeling bad.)

Life should be seen as a game of tetris. It's a game you cannot win as the game will always get harder until there is no way you can beat it. Rather, the objective is to see how far you can get and consider improving on your previous attempts as a victory itself. By applying this philosophy you maximize the effort you put on achieving things while at the same time minimizing the pain that inevitable failure brings. If you go to a battle knowing you're defeated but at the same time focus on seeing how much of a fight you can give before falling you will get as far as you possibly can and accept defeat with a smile if such is the outcome
@Vad32512 жыл бұрын
I have been struggling with the fear of rejection for most of my life. But recently I found that stoicism and philosophy in general has helped me with this problem, without me even realising it. I have taken a chancs, of asking someone out. A leap that younger me would be terrified of taking. And only after doing so, did I realise how easy it was to do. Because the goal I was looking for was to simply express myself, and I didn't really put "success" as the objective of the interaction

I was all over the place in terms of my emotional turmoil of desperation, hopelessness, and feelings of uselessness and incompetence. And I was very very aimless about what should I do with my life and I was pretty much lost. Nobody gave me any comfort about things would turn out better in the future. Well, right now, I am quite happy about it but I am very aware that anything can change and I might go back all over again. I think it's more about our attitudes than the circumstances in the outer world that can impact our happiness. When I am happy, the world is okay, not the other way around! I am getting more and more detached from the outcomes of circumstances to affect my well-being mentally. I am like, If I get the job, okay, If I don't I am still okay, it's their loss, there are thousands of other jobs which I can apply for. I now feel like when I go to a job interview etc, it's like the observation about new things and experimenting. My advice for people watching - Don't take schopenhauers words to mean that people who reject you don't deserve respect - dont be that person who lashes out or hates someone who rejects them. Just accept that you are different, not necessarily better, and that you can thrive and survive despite their opinion.

Love the channel and have been using it before I meditate and to help get me through tough times. Speaking of tough times, as a stoic enthusiast, what can one do if they are very self critical, self sabotage, and are feeling as though they have lost progress made on themselves? Thank you for your time, attention, and content 🙏🏻 All the best! - Alex

Thank you for this channel. Simplifying and condensing philosophy. Has helped me in many ways over many years of my life. Has helped me get more of an interest to read books on these topics myself and dive deeper. ❤️ all of these videos have great lessons that I may forget at sometimes but always good to remember

I have even a practical example of such a rejection. I was rejected by a girl, later I had a dream, which I interpreted as an outcome if there was no rejection, in which I was in the accident with that girl. My car was smashed in that dream, while at the same time I was with her in the car. In real life, I found out that she found another sugar daddy. So, rejection was a good thing for me and in the dream I got «proof» that it was a good thing. Also, probably inability to cope with/withstand rejection may be that a person can't choose things, people, etc. Rejection basically means to choose the things that someone needs. That person who fears rejection just can't choose the things, that mean something to him/her. It seems logical to me and at the same time it has sense. In the example above I couldn't choose people, now I can and do it easy. Though, still a bit anxious about rejection, but more in the sense of losing freedom.

The best part about being rejected by whatever you desire is that in the process you instead find your true self and your true potential and talent and a completely authentic way of life that suits and serves you well and much better than if the thing you desired had not rejected you.
