I live in Wisconsin, where recently, plastic bags can be recylced. It makes me feel SO much better when I don't have to throw them away. I've always wondered how the process worked, and it doesn't look seriously complicated, which makes me hope that other states will soon follow suit.

Thanks so much for sharing this video. I searched for videos on this process after I was told by my city recycle program (in Houston, TX) that they do not accept plastic bags because they get caught in the machines. I knew there had to be a way to recycle them, and while I'm happy Houston is finally making a stronger recycling effort, I hope they incorporate plastic bag recycling very soon!

I used to do prototyping for a plastic injection molding company in Michigan. The warehouse had tons of spiders in it. One day, one of the warehouse guys took a spider and put it in a barrel of new plastic pellets. The spider freaked out, curled up and died within a minute. Not sure what is in that material that caused it, but I never stuck my hands in the material from that day forward.

I love the idea of recycling ♻️ I've been recycling everything possible in my home however I began to wonder if it even made a difference if I did it or not. Some friends told me not to worry about it that I wasn't going to make a difference that it wasn't worth my stress. I just figured that if we all have that same mentality then they'll definitely be no difference. We're a family of 8 so I hope that me doing recycling ♻️ will have at least a tiny bit of difference. 💚🌎💙

there is a man somewhere in the world (I will get the details for you) who was brave enough to stand up for his area along the water and so no to garbage there. People said there was no point. All the fish had died anyway. Over time though, fish started to resurface. And others started to join in. There is a reason for Stand Your Ground saying. I say this in empathy because I was just at the recycling station the other day and wondering if there was any point in me recycling all the plastics especially after I found out what they did with them.....but keep in mind as systems grow, they adapt.

@@moniquevandeplas5210 It's tough to be positive when only 9% (according to some statistics I read somewhere) of plastics get recycled. BUT that is better than zero. Every little bit helps. I've been recycling for 30 years. Styrofoam is recyclable at Publix grocery stores. Keep up the good work & keep spreading positive feedback Monique!!! ✌☮ 🪴 🐟 🐕 🌞 💧

NJ BANNED most plastic shopping bags and usage dropped by over 5 BILLION bags, thats BILLION, within about 19 months according to the NJ Food Council, an industry group for grocers & supermarkets. I also find it ironic that at around 3:12 an employee is handing a single use plastic water bottle to someone!

Yes we must reuse or recycle what we can! I’d like to share a Great Recycling Idea for reflective insulated bag from Blue Apron that you might want to share with others! I live in Colorado and I like to make battery heat barrier/insulation blankets(wraps) our of the Blue Apron insulated bags, for all my vehicle batteries. So my batteries last longer protected from engine heat, as anything over 90 degrees Fahrenheit, accelerates the battery’s internal damaging corrosion and water loss. Also the battery can perform better in our bitter cold that greatly reduces their output ability over 50 percent and reduces their charging ability when you need them most. Automotive Batteries are expensive and seem to only last 3-7 years. There aren’t many things we can do to extend our battery's life span. There are just a few sellers of aftermarket battery blankets(like the picture below) and even when you find a seller, they don’t always fit larger batteries and are basically too expensive for most to consider. It’s well known in the automotive industry, that our vehicle’s battery’s life is shortened in temperature extremes of the hot engine compartment and the either or hot and cold climates we live in. Because of this, many automotive manufacturers equip their new vehicles with battery blankets usually made from a cloth exterior and fiberglass like interior. However the vehicles considerate enough to originally equipped with these battery blankets too often loose their blankets during battery replacement. Often because the fragile blanket gets torn during removal, OR the new battery installer does not want to bother with slipping the blanket on the new battery, OR the original blanket does not fit the new battery, OR the installer is unaware what the blanket does OR assumes it is part of the old battery case. Making a battery blanket is so easy with the Blue Apron reflective insulation bag which does not conduct electricity. I place the battery into one of the corners of the bag and cut the bag down so that it wraps around the sides of the battery. I use my screw driver end to punch a hole at each bottom corner so if water ever gets in the bag, it can leak out. Then I fold the sides and use box tape to hold the cut areas, the tape sticks very well. Then I use scissors and cut the bag to the level of the top of the battery. Done! Take care!

You should have one or more recycling plant in each state of the union. Imagine all these plastic bags save from the garbage landfill and our waterways and being given new life. Can they make other items with those plastic pellets I wonder...Might be a profitable investment to look into starting one by some environmentalist entrepreneurs if there isn't one in their area.

There so much plastic in the world if you banned making new plastics and was only allowed to recycle them you would see a dramatic drop in the amount of plastics entering the oceans and wildlife habits as companies would be only buying there plastic bottles bags e.c.t off companies that are recycling plastics, also these companies recycling plastics would make more money and would most likely pay large amout to other companies for supply large amounts of used plastics for them to recycle giving government or even private companies to invest in collecting plastics from the oceans, rivers, roadsides and wooded areas due to the fact that I would them be profitable to do so. The only issues would be being efficient enough in collecting plastics that you could pay staff and Still make a profit.
