I have never understood the logic of that Plusle gift. A notoriously terrible Pokémon, half the level of your starters, and they don't even give you a Minun to use with it.

A part of me wonders how many "exploits" like this were actually planned by the programmers...in this case that's the only explanation that makes sense. ETA: on Sparkle's "Only Boss to Use a Legendary" video someone says there was data for a Shadow Minun that went unused? Perhaps that has something to do with it? They scrapped the Minun but forgot about the Plusle?

Plusle is better than you think (Take advantage of its thunder wave encore which infinitely traps opponents) Also macho brace it to a decent level then exp share it and abuse its 1.5x xp boost. You'll end up with a level 80 plusle by the time everyone else is level 55-60

I remember when I was a kid, this was my first pokemon game. I had not really played any RPGs before it, so didn't understand the concept of levels like at all lol. I just used Espeon and Umbreon. But when I got Plusle I thought it was the cutest thing ever and immediately replaced Umbreon with it. As you can imagine, I had no clue why it was getting destroyed by everything. But I stubbornly stuck with it and soloed the rest of the game with just Espeon and Plusle. The only trainer I wasn't able to beat was the final trainer of battle mountain. Now I'm watching the little guy break speedruns. I ALWAYS KNEW IT WAS SPECIAL! 😭

I actually had plusle as a core member on my teams when I was younger.. I used its thunder and helping hand with espeon's psychic and whichever starter's key moves too.. and I found giving it the EXP share and is boosted growth made it level far higher than my others, since I was young and didn't want/know how to grind... so I'm in its corner :)
