If the Academy reached their full potential: (Updated) Luther: If he were to properly utilize his implemented primate physiology (if he can) it's likely that he would develop superhuman strength that far exceeds anything humanly possible and essentially become physically superior to any human. Diego: Altering the trajectory, motion and position of any object in mid-air and combining that with his knife handeling skills, he'll be able to become the ultimate assassin. Allison: Effectively manipulating human beings in any way she wishes simply by speaking. Klaus: The only one that has come closest to reaching their full potential. I think that he would be able to freely manipulate vast amounts of spirits, use them as soldiers, exorcise them and potentially bringing someone back to life completely given what we saw on a few occasions. It depends on the continuity but it may be possible for him to harness poltergeist abilities as seen in the comics, such as telekinesis and his levitation. Seeing as he's virtually immortal and as a very hefty powerset, he'll definitely be one of the most formidable of the group. Five: Teleporting anywhere at any given distance and being able to freely travel anywhere in time without physical repercussions. It could also be possible to teleport objects and or people. Ben: Summoning more physically powerful and monstrous tentacles. Viktor: Precise control over his immense destructive sound manipulation.

Technically, I see Allison has already reached her full potential. Before, she could only manipulate one mind at a time, but as u can see at the Russian war, she manipulates more at a time. You saw Allison say "i heard a rumor, i blew your minds" she actually is not manipulating reality, OR doing anything high level. Since her full potentials involves her giving access to any mind, she is also able to blow it up, meaning she only has control of the mind, not reality. UNLESS youre talking about the comics, cause there shes a badass🕺

I wonder how strong the reality manipulating potential of Allison’s powers are. For the most part her power has been used on the minds of others but there are instances in the comics and the show where it flat out changes reality. I know she wasn’t able to rumor Vanya into walking in the comic but I wonder if that was because of her emotions towards her sister, rather than her actually not being able to do it.

Weaknesses of the Umbrella Academy: Luther: Lack of self esteem. I think his super strength is somewhat based off confidence in his abilities, and he was filled with self loathing once he woke up looking monstrous. If you look when he was taking that tank blast, he had his shirt off, he wasn't hiding himself. This version of Luther could have become more self confident, and therefore a lot stronger. Allison: Morality of her abilities. Honestly, I think her abilities are always in full raid gear, but she only rumours little things because she is scared of the consequences of her power. Klaus: Fear of the dead. Apart from with Ben, Klaus doesn't really use his abilities that often. Even when sober in season 2, he still rarely talks to the dead apart from Ben. It was only at the end where he summoned ghosts to catch him out of fear. Five: Arrogance. His arrogance means he always aims big instead on working on smaller changes. Therefore, his powers for a long time were limited to teleportation and crap time travel. Vanya: Lack of emotional control. Reg said himself, Vanya often struggles to control abilities, so they often work in huge destructive waves. Not sure about Diego and Ben

I feel like Bens power itself combined with his own emotions is his downfall, he is shown to be very naive and timid, during the bank heist he didn’t want to use his powers because he is just as afraid of them as anyone he might be up against, out of the entire team he was probably the most hesitant and that could have been what lead to his death, he was too hesitant to use his powers and suffered, I also like the theory that it’s because he wasn’t ordered to use his powers, like in the bank scene he wasn’t in the fight until they told him to be, maybe he was caught while no one was looking and really wasn’t too good at making quick decisions under pressure, acting as the clean up at the end when things calmed down.

One thing I'm hoping happens in the next season (although not likely) is that Reginald realizes his heartless form of training was flawed. In season 2 he saw the outcome of the 7 he adopted. He definitely chose 6 other children because he was disappointed in the originals. Here's the twist. He changed as well. The Sparrow Academy was a redo, and he vowed to do better and make different choices. His future had already come back to haunt him so he did everything differently. The result of his change of tactic will be that The Sparrow Academy is going to be far more conceited. While the Umbrella academy ultimately felt like they could never live up to Reginald and pitied themselves, the Sparrow Academy is going to be made up of assholes. At first there is going to be a lot of conflict between the two, but together they are going to be the best version of what Reginald was trying to accomplish. The Umbrella academy will stop feeling sorry for themselves and embrace their gifts, while the Sparrow Academy will come to understand why its good to be humble despite their gifts.

I love it! EDIT: It's worth noting, Reginald is still the real villain of all these catastrophes at this point. Maybe season 4 will be the destruction of him.... but that's another season out... let's just watch and enjoy.

@Alex Paul He's an alien living in a human world. Maybe we can't expect him to understand how we work at first (umbrella academy), or how it works after he adjusts (sparrow academy). Or at all (the primary villain). Reginald, because he doesn't understand, is the cause of the chaos.... possibly. EDIT: It appears that he released these gifts onto humans. None of the 'super people' would be dealing with any of this if it wasn't for him to begin with. And then everything he did to control it failed because he didn't understand humanity to begin with. BUT the humanity of those being granted powers might overcame the chaos it is causing. In this situation he could be the ultimate good while causing the ultimate worst. He is the the one causing extreme chaos and he doesn't realize it.

I think dealing with child psychology was suppose to be the job of there many mothers atleast to some degree. In the long term a human mother figure could probadly have helped them but given how many of them died in the process its understandable why Sir Reginald swapped over to a robotic mother figure. Ofc a robot can only do so mutch so the kids hade no natural mother figure to deal with there psychology issues. Apart from Klaus turning to drugs and Vanya felling isolated and left out they most likly turned out better then most would have.

klaus is one of the most powerful in the comics: he has telekinesis and can carry up to 40k lbs with it (in the comics he stopped the apocalypse by using his telekinesis to put the moon pieces back). he can levitate, it’s assumed he can resurrect the dead, he can communicate through airwaves and dream travel, and then of course there’s the communicating with the dead

I watched a video I can't remember which channel but they had a theory that Luthers strength and durability is linked to his mental state, as when he's pumped up, angry etc he's strong but when he's depressed or doubting himself he's weak. There was also a theory that Alisons 'I heard a rumour' was put on her by hargreeves to control her power and she can just warp reality with her words

I think Vanya's main power is the ability to control energy in all forms. Sound may be her main source, but when her emotions get strong and she is closer to reaching her white violin form, the enery she absorbs can be released in many ways which explains the shock wave force field, change in weather, and her ability to absorb huge amounts of energy from her siblings ( with energy tentacles) and from that electric chair. As for the glowing beads, it looks alot like those thigs Hargreeves released in the last episode of season 1.

I would argue 5 is stonger than vanya. He is the theoretical master of reality. He can go back in time and realize any goal before any opposition can manifest. Five blinks and you're dead. Vanya has to take time to set her power up. It's like a slow one shot puncher vs a lightening precision striker. Sure, given time, she can one shot the earth and five can jump back to yesterday and take her out. 5 wins Everytime unless she is fully charged and he is unwilling to kill her

Personally, I think Reginald did not only based his children numbers on their power levels, but also on how good they were as his children (Attitude, Responsibilites, Tolerance, Knowledge, Experience). Luther - He is number 1 because he did everything perfectly. Just like how Reginald wanted. Even stayed behind alone at the academy with him, mom and Pogo while the others have long gone. Diego - Diego is number 2 because he always questioned his dad whether he's good or not good enough and he always trying to prove that he's right. Allison - Allison did everything Reginald asked purely because it's her job and he is her father. She didnt take the missions seriously and thought it was all just work and she will be done with it soon. Klaus - Same as Allison. He never really cared about what he can do since he was afraid of his powers growing up. Five - Perhaps the most rebellious one out of all the siblings. So damn stubborn and wouldnt listen a thing from his dad. Ended up alone in the future, even admitting his mistakes when they met again in Season 2. Ben - Probably the nicest from all the siblings because of his sympathy. He knows how horrifying his powers can be so he decided to not to use it often. Reginald assumed that he was weak and didnt have any confidence. Vanya - An outcast.

All right here's my own updated version after season 3 1# *Luther* He is the physically strongest of them, but also easy to beat if any of them tried. 2# *Diego* Can control projectiles very precisely. Could take on Luther probably, not without getting a scratch himself tho. Would not win against any other sibling. Here's where I see a huge gap in terms of power between the siblings. It's a close call between all of them. 3# *Allison* Can literally form reality to her will. Only downsides are, she needs to choose her words very wisely and carefully, because it could affect her as well. Other downside is it takes her a few seconds to say it. In that time someone like Five could've already subdued her. 4# *Ben* Based on season 3 is seems he's not as powerful as we thought. Sure he was able to beat a whole room of people in merely a few seconds in the season 1 finale, but so could the following three if they wanted (maybe Allison as well, but I'd say it would be more difficult for her than for Ben) 5# *Five* Really powerful due to his experience and ability to jump though universes and time. He's also fast, but he has a limit and constantly overexhausts himself. If he'd reach his limit while fighting the following two he would not win. 6# *Klaus* He is way more powerful than we give him credit for. How about we start with the fact that he is literally immortal! In any situation he is in, he could come back from it without dying and due to him training this ability with Reginald in season 3 he can come back from being dead in seconds and has incredible reflexes right after. He's basically unstoppable. Also aside from getting information from the dead, he could, potentially, summon whole armies for a fight or even specific people. He could even let them possess him, for them to do certain things for him. ("Oh no! Someone's shot the pilot? Worry not! I have one right here!" "Wait, you need someone who speaks this language? Just give me a sec.) He could literally do ANYTHING! I believe that if he'd reach his full potential (in the comics he has other abilities such as traveling through airwaves, dream walking and telekinesis) , he'd be able to fight and win against all of his siblings except maybe Viktor. The only thing I could see that would hinder him with flatlining all of them is his own motivation to do so. Out of all of them he is the least likely to actually outright fight with his siblings. But if he would... the academy'd be a one-man group. 7# *Viktor* His powers aren't limited as Five's are and they are more dangerous than Klaus'. The fact that he's also unstoppable, because unless you take his ability to hear or feel sounds away, he can continue to use his powers. Homeboy was literally the reason to world ended TWICE and if that doesn't say anything I don't know what does.

Tbh Luther I think could do a LOT more, but you can see that he doesn’t even understand his ability in his fight with Lila. Lila knew his ability better than him. You can see the vibration when she stops his punch. I think Klaus has some potential abilities that haven't been explored yet that would make him very formidable. Like when he died, but came back, if that was more a power thing and less a "It's not your time" thing could mean he'd be very powerful. Also, manifesting the dead is quite a feat and if he actually put effort in, could possibly manifest even more. You didn't mention the being able to let ghosts possess him either. Though, that might not be powerful in a combat scenario, if he actually put it to work, he could technically have the ability to do anything (humanly possible of course). Need to fly a plane? No problem, find a dead pilot who can take over for a while.

Wow. I never realized White Violins powers was based off sound. I just thought she used the sound to focus her anxieties and was then able to use the powers after clearing her mind/focusing only on the sound. Mind of the North Star It’s less that she’s dumb about it and more that, as a storybreaker power (beyond literally calling down the moon and time travel), it requires reigns, or chains. Hers in particular being, relative awareness that being able to get ‘anything’ goes right to her head, and there’s not much to stop her if she were to go on a proper rampage. And before her getting her throat cut is brought up in reference to that, I did say a _proper_ rampage. While I can’t say anything for the comic, in the show she seemed to require eye contact on top of getting words out after “I heard a rumor...” If she were able to do that to people from a _distance_ , like over the phone, or a radio, or television, there would be nothing to snap her out of it.

They are and will always be stronger when working together . In my opinion that was one of Hargreeves major mistakes . He caused so much resentment in the group they never fully developed their powers. The strength of their powers seems so tied to their emotions. Vanyas are cataclysmic when she is not in control and the others seem weaker the less they care . Their father forced them to fight but it’s when they genuinely want to fight they are at their best.

I'm pretty sure they're numbered based on how directly useful they were to The Monacle (as children). #1 is Luther because he always does what daddy says without question. #2 is Diego because he's willing to practice his powers and take training/missions seriously, but he isn't as subservient. #3 is Allison because she at least tries to take it seriously. #4 is Klaus because he is powerful and useful, but seems resistant to training and authority. #5 is Number 5 because he is too cocky, and wants to take training into his own hands which is somewhat dangerous. #6 is Ben because while he is easily manipulated, his power is extremely dangerous if he's not careful. This makes him potentially less useful in the long run. #7 is Vanya because she is resistant to training (like Klaus) but her power is so much more dangerous than everyone else's that he cannot trust her to be at all useful.

Can I just add to the conversation that Aidan actually revealed in an interview that the producer somehow leaked that the Umbrella Academy is stronger when they are together? It might be because they are all connected by that thing Reginald released in s1 causing them to be born. That may also be the reason why Diego discovered that new trajectory-controlling ability he has and why Vanya was very strong in her white violin form at the end of season 1. And basically the whole world war 3 sequence where they all had improved abilities. I wanna hear your thoughts about this though, it would be such an interesting video.

Technically I think Diego is a lot more powerful than commonly thought. He basically has complete control over trajectory. Which allows him to alter the direction something is moving like his knives. He also has some power over the force the object is moving when he slows the force of the bullets holding them almost in place and then increasing the force when he send the bullets away from himself in season two. This theoretically means that he should be able to influence anything that is moving around him. By changing the trajectory of a persons leg making them fall or slow them down so they never actually take a step. To even preventing a persons lungs from expanding. Since the diaphragm has to contract and release to move the lungs he could theoretically prevent or slow down the movement preventing them from breathing. While the others are powerful. It is implied that Diego has some kind of control over a fundamental law of physics.

The thing is, the likes of Klaus and Allison were actually way more powerful than the rest of the Academy in the comics so it makes a lot of sense that they would be depowered at the start of the show so that both Vanya looks more powerful (and ergo more of a threat given how unstable she is) and so they have to grow with the narrative rather than fix things easily like they would if they had their true potential. But I do legimately think that both of them will reach their comic book levels of power by the end of the show and help level out the team, with Allison getting her reality-bending powers rather than just mind control and Klaus getting his telekinesis and limited telepathy/immortality making them both just as dangerous as Vanya and Five.

I personally believe that the Numbers are meant to show their mastery over their powers. Luther was No.1 bc it's easy to understand and use strength as a power effectively and Vanya was No.7 bc her training stopped due to Reggie being afraid of her power.

I agree with everything except 5 over Vanya. For the simple reason that five is immortal sans being killed. In the show his body is stuck in time, and he cannot age. Similar in the comics he cannot age the temps made it so. So while Vanya is powerful yes, she will one day die. If 5 wanted to he could live to see the heat death of the universe then rewind time to live it all again and again and again shaping reality into whatever he wanted and creating different universes.

I believe Luther's powers are emotion based, his super strength is just based on how his mood is, that's why when the academy was all together and he was happy, he could throw an adult through the window as a child, but when the academy dissolved and his body was changed, he became kind of depressed, losing most of his strength, when he realizes Allison has a new husband he's on his lowest, to the point of being knocked out by a regular man, when in the beggining of season 2 his legs are strong enough to jump far distance and his back durable enough to resist a rocket thrown directly at him, because he has just realized his siblings are alive and they are an united front again

The reason why Luther's powers are inconsistent throughout season 2 was because his powers are tied to his confidence. The more confident he is, the stronger he is and the more invincible he is (hense the rocket launcher). But because of him finding out the love of his life/his sister got married, it knocks down his confidence that's why he got his ass kicked in the boxing match.

Allison power has been described on the show several times as being "able to rumor anyone to do anything"; I don't think she can warp reality, or not completly at least. She can convince people for their heads to explode, but she can't make things apear out of nowhere like her comic counterpart. She can only warp reality for people to do stuff, but not affect objects or forces of nature.

I think Luther's power seems inconsistent because there's no special activation action. He fights as normal (albeit with a gorilla body) but that's not using his power. Then when he's ready, he will activate the power and become ridiculously strong and durable. You can see it sometimes in the show like when he's working as a fighter. He doesn't activate until he gets the nod.

I think the numbering is about who is the most powerful but dangerous as in the comics it was the most useful, 1 one being the least dangerous and 7 being the most dangerous to the world or even themselves. With that I think the numbering is perfect, Luther and Diego being interchangeable, Allison can be very dangerous but only if she is allowed to speak, Klaus is dangerous but not like 5-7, Number 5 has the potential to mess up the timeline like The Flash, Ben potentially could let something dangerous onto the world, and Vanya well can easily cause am Apocalypse level event if she lose control.

After season 2 it got abundantly clear that Reginald Hargreeves never solely ranked them based on their powers but also on the level he could control/ manipulate them. Luther - obedient and devoted to the point of blind loyalty (who is Reggie's good boiii?) Diego - gummy-bear at heart - desperately needs validation and by demoting his worth / self-esteem he could be easily manipulated and broken down to the point that he developed a stutter (superhero-complex) Allison - was known to be vain and narcissistic, thriving in the spotlight - by giving her what she wanted (Daddy's little girl) she easily obliged. Klaus - Hargreeves could not control the dead but Klaus was scared of his powers. Number Five - How control the child that can make time and space his bish? Pander to his ego. Kid has one more braincell than the rest of them combined (This truly worked sooo well) Ben - In the comics it is stated that Hargreeves was truly afraid of Ben's powers, he had a hard time stomaching his HORROR and disgust for the creatures that harboured under the boy's skin. But Ben had a pure and innocent soul - reluctant to do harm (I'm not crying - you are!) Vanya - self-explanatory. Utterly impossible to control - hence useless. He thought her powers were solely linked to her emotions (and he is sooo good with emotions!). Treated her like bomb. Took away her powers. Isolated her and drugged her up. Space-alien-father of the year.

So I think Diego and Luther have the worst powers as they’ve displayed them in the show. But if Diego can control objects telekinetically, he could carry a pocket of sand and throw it and have even a single grain fly into an opponent’s ear and scramble their grey matter. And if Klaus were to not only scratch his potential but really developed it, even 5 can’t fight a ghost army. So my list from how they are right now from strongest to weakest would be vanya, klaus, 5, Allison, Ben, Diego, Luther.

Diego doesn’t have the power of telekinesis, but the power of vector manipulation. We know this because Diego is controlling moving objects, specifically bullets. You see this in the opening scene when the men are shooting at him, and he redirects the bullets. You also see this at the end when he slows down the bullets, and redirects them. I initially thought he could control metal objects, but looking at it closer, you can see he can manipulate moving objects. His power is different from Vanya. Vanya redirects things by creating a barrier, but she cannot control where that object goes, but Diego can control where the object goes. Basically, so long as something has a magnitude, direction, and is in motion, Diego can control it.

I guess my point despite being wrong about telekinesis is he could use something rather than a knife thrown to take people down. A pebble could do the same and make it through a metal detector, he throws the knife and controls its vector. A knife is heavier than a grain of sand which could kill without there being one of his knives left behind in someone’s chest. Side note. Do you think Harland will be a villain in next season?

I think Vanya and Alison r the most powerful. Just look at when their powers were developed after 5 jumped into 1963. She could easily attack multiple people from a distance. I think Luther is quite abit more powerful than people give him credit for. He can survive at least 4 years on the moon. All astronauts are legally required to not stay for 6 months on a protected base because of how dangerous it is. That means Luther can survive quite alot of things. Klaus is also immortal. So id put him on top
