Klaus Hargreeves is a fascinating member of the Umbrella Academy. Klaus is designated number 4, the Séance. He has the ability to communicate with the dead, as well as let them inhabit his body and use him as a medium. He can fly and levitate, and has a extremely powerful telekinesis. He is also a drug addict that is pretty much not to be trusted... ever.

He used his telepathic abilities to reach Luther through T.V airwaves and then he single handedly defeats both ChaCha and Hazel via possession. What does he do in the show? I think it was in an interview with Gerard Way, that he says Klaus powers were toned down for two reasons; 1. Technical Aspect, having Klaus flying around, wouldve been expensive and very hard. 2. Klaus flying is a methaphor, the dude is disconnected, and literally *High* all the time, in the series Robert was able to convey how "off" he is, quite well, so we can see how he is usually "over" everything and everyone, without needing him to be flying. In the series, they made it very clear that Klaus never reached his full potential, so im sure we will see more of him in later seasons, specially since he was a fan favorite.

I love the Netflix version. I think it is fun when the show is different from the source material. That way fans can read the comics and watch the show and get new info and. Stories every time. Kind of like a fanfiction. I loved Klaus and all the other characters in the Umbrella Academy and am now watching the show a second time- this time with a friend who also enjoys it. I might check out the comics too since they seem different and offer new content for me :)

Haven't read the comics, and I loved the show. But the one thing that bothered me really bad was that I kept trying to figure out how Klaus would've been useful in the UA fights, like the bank robbery scene. I didn't see why he would ever be allowed to go on a mission, and probably should've stayed with Vanya. Now that I know he has real powers I feel a bit better even though it wasn't in the show.

You are underestimating the value of talking to the dead. A random spirit haunting that bank could walk right through walls and tell them what was on the other side. The ghost of a dead hostage could come out and let them know that they were killing hostages in there. The ghost of an old bank manager might be able to help them open the vault. That's pretty useful stuff.

Mickey E and you are highly, i repeat HIGHLY overestimating it’s usefulness in actual canon. sure, in theory, that’s real nice and wrapped up in a little bow. but there’s never any actual guarantee that those spirits you described would actually be there (or exist), let alone that they would help him. (all the spirits we see in the show seem quite focused on yelling at klaus or begging him for help. or entirely ignoring him. the only one who helps him in the series is Ben, and he’s a special case). so that’s not a realistic explanation, he still seemingly has no reason to be included on these missions.

@@nightstargalaxy7347 There is no guarantee any of those powers would be helpful. That's not a rational argument as to why one of them is powerful. More spirits than Ben help him. He uses a bunch of them to help him against Cha Cha and Hazel. He pretty much has access to all sorts of spirits when he is sober and willing to do it. The only one he has trouble getting is his father. Ben helps him because Ben is the one he turns to for help.

I felt similarly. It was clear he had combat training like the rest, but I couldn't figure out how he was using his powers in any of the flashbacks. After the barber scene, I think that including him may have been another of his father's attempts to unlock his powers.

ehhh both have their strong points as characters but the klaus in the comics is just a little bit of a jerk and more functional, seeing centipedes when he clsoes his eyes notwithstanding.

the show definitely brought out the story better, I've watched the vanya one, thought it would've been better if they did put that cult in the show instead of it being about that harold Jenkins, but the end of him was BADASS, now reminds me of the part from xmen last stand when Jean explodes the professor, the graphics for the comics are sloppy and the story feels all over the place while the show has loads of light to it

I actually really like the changes they made in the show. Its cool how they combined most the comics and made a cohesive plot out of it. To be honest I wasnt the biggest fan of the comics when I first read them but I really like the show

For me Luthor's character is like the worst one of all. He just don't appeal to me. I honestly hate things about him(the character), and I srsly don't sense any potential at all. I hope he gets redeemed in season 2.

My order from best to worst is Diego,Five, Klaus, Allison, Luther then Vanya. Vanya was always a naive annoying character in my opinions. Diego is my faborite because he was very relatable and a likeable character.

Even Klaus' character was written kinda shtty but was redeemed with the dark humor and impressive acting skills of the actor. Luther on the other hand was like lazy writing and just don't seem to appeal to me. Quite possibly the writers didn't give much effort on showcasing his character which is sad and hopefully he'll get it in the next season.

They downgraded him to make it so everyone is required for the final conflict, the show is an ensemble, if klaus was that powerful he'd take over the scene. It's a filming thing, it's also why number 3's rumors are now hypnotic suggestion instead of reality warping.

It may be one of the other children Hargreeves couldn't adopt. In the comics, they recently had Vanya meet two people with powers via her mother. One guy had pink hair and kind of resembled Klaus while the other has similar powers to Allison, even resembling Allison's live action counterpart.

It helps move the story forward and that he uses drugs to stop his power is excellent foreshadowing. That's why I knew Vanya had powers as soon as she took the pills. Honestly, Klaus with his powers would have been able to fix everything quickly. He would know 5 wasn't dead. He would figure out all of Hargreaves secrets.

I know everyone thinks he’s underpowered in the series, but doesn’t anyone realize that they are foreshadowing the hell out of him being stronger? His father said he hadn’t even touched the surface of his powers. What they are most likely doing is building them up slowly so that he can have more character arcs and character development, then when he does reach the level of power of his comic book counterpart (which I do not doubt he will at all), it will leave a much bigger impact on the audience as well as rounding out his character more and showing how far he’s come. This is so obviously the path they are trying to take with him. And at the end of the series they showed that they weren’t afraid to use cgi powers, so I’m 99.9% sure we will see him at his full power eventually.
