That smile and drink was used to disarm 5 temporarily. I think 5 caught on to the deceit but had already divulged too much (setting up the alternate future). In the show they have definitely set him up as a force equally matched for the "kids."

He gave the 43 kids their powers by releasing those orange balls in season 1. So when he found out these woman randomly became pregnant he sought them out and I believe he only grabbed 7 kids that he thought would benefit him and the world most. Knowing full well there were others. I think the sparrow academy that is formed at the end of season 2 will further support this theory. After he met the umbrella academy in the 60’s he decided to get another combination of the 43 kids since when he met the umbrella academy they were all shells of themselves and Reginald didn’t have confidence in them to save the world anymore leading him to form a different combination of the 43 kids called the sparrow academy

BEN because he is mysterious and loyal, all he ever wanted to do was say goodbye and he finally got the chance to. and he has a awesome power. i feel bad for klaus because they were together for almost idk like 17 years and klaus thought he was the reason Ben never officially died and went to the light...BUT BEN WAS the reason. I honestly felt bad for him he wanted to just see his family in season two but no one took it seriously. AND most IMPORTANTLY Ben sacrificed himself 😣😣 and he possessed klaus lol 🙌🏻

My favorite character is Five because he is such a complex character who has the moral compass of a psychopath but yet thinks of his family at all times. No matter how far down the rabbit hole he feels he has to go in order to survive, his instincts still drive him to protect his family as much as possible. I would love to learn more about Sir Reginald since the comic book and the TV show both have given us tantalizing glimpses into his background but still left so much more to be explained. Maybe Season Three will provide more insight into his history and his motivations. And Grace...?

My favorite part about 5 is that he always seemed to be the only half competent member of the team. 90% of his dialogue is him struggling to wrangle the Academy into saving the world, and the other 10% is him making deals with the handler so saving the world wouldn’t require his family. He may be a bit arrogant, but he’s a professional.

I think the show has done an excellent job of making him a not-quite-sympathetic villain. We sort of see where he's coming from and what he's trying to do, but he's doing it all wrong and it keeps blowing up in the end in a way that would be painfully obvious to a human.

I’m going to go with Allison, in the show her character is so heartbreaking and sweet, she regrets abusing her powers and tries her best to right all her wrongdoings trying to live a life in which isn’t bending to her vision. Five, Vanya, Klaus will be close seconds, Five has an interesting personality and background, Vanya is that sweet timid girl with god tier powers and I mean Sissy and Harlan with her was so wholesome... and Klaus funny, chill, the whole Dave situation was a great, and of course him being with Ben. I’m wondering how no longer having Ben then having to see him in the Sparrow Academy alive not knowing him how that’ll feel, it’ll be like Dave all over again.

Five, he is one of the most unic character and he moves the plot forward and is Very interesting. There are other well-written characters, but most fall into some tropes already used in X-Men. Five to me is the one with the most novel background.

Reginald Hargreeves is kinda the main antagonist of the entire show. In his zeal to prevent the apocalypse he does absolutely horrendous things to the children, to the point that Vanya grows up so angry, confused and repressed and starved for attention that it's only a matter of time before someone manipulates her or makes her so mad she can't control her powers. The apocalypse is his fault, but he'd rather continuously humiliate literal children and hold them responsible than act like a parent. I'm fine with learning more about him, I'm just not here for a story where we find out that the abuse is good, actually and his torture, drugging, and emotional abuse was somehow excusable. He's literally the person on this show that is most morally offensive to me. He talks and thinks exactly like toxic parents do and I hope the show doesn't seek to justify it.

I like Vanya, I can relate a lot to her. Neglected by family, she is soft and timid yet extremely powerful. She is regretful over what she's done, and I just feel for her. Also I would love to see Reginald expanded upon.

My favorite is Vanya. I can relate to her & her depressed childhood/adult life. I hate how Reginald out of fear locked her away and was cruel to her. I hate how Allison didn't tell Vanya that she wiped her mind till the last minute. I really really dislike how Luther was such a jerk, being mean to Vanya and shoving her away when she needed help. Ben was there for her, supporting her even in death.

I fell in love with Klaus from the first season of the show on Netflix and watching his life and everything about him really just made me feel for him especially his love life with dave it was just so heartbreaking and so beautiful to see there relationship grow and end, I really hope for the best for Klaus especially after season 2.

When Diego was reaching out to Mom in Season 1~ episode 2/3. And her referencing a painting of a woman “Such a wonderful world she lives in. . But sometimes I wonder if she’s lonely” and the editing & writing showing that Diego is so emotional he reacts before someone’s done speaking. That on top of The Handler being essentially the opposite, a human being yet lacks anything in the realm of remorse & empathy. The Handler wearing certain face expressions at the same angles, using the exact same tone, physical movements and lines. 5 being the opposite yet when 1 confronts him in the van 5’s actor nailed it. And Lila learning everything from the handler, doing it almost as well but less consistent, cracks in her armor more clear, choosing to keep in scenes to remind audiences. It’s no wonder she fell for Diego someone whose instinct, and emotion. ( love his obsession with JFK, and clear research despite being born 2 decades after and not having any US adults or outside social social resources. It just comes off as hilarious on Netflix but so incredibly thoughtful when considering the comics on top of the show How Father trusted JFK & Vice versa, how broken he was after JFK’s death. Just freaking stellar. Don’t get me wrong Klaus, Allison, Ben & One were all on point too. Wish Klaus had gotten more screen time, can completely understand why he was so devoted to Dave trying to save someone he fell in love with. Nanya’s didn’t make much sense though but maybe just because it seemed to regress her character, take away from character development as so much time was used for the same thing, Sissy was on point her character ecen being a dude character had so much potential to show confusion, desire to rekindle the relationship with her child’s father especially considering the time period, or why such an artsy girl would be forced to wear the usual “I’m the butch one for you phonics that means I’m da man!(Making a joke here.) yer being in the early 60s, being in an extremely religious area in a state that’s spent it’s entire existence being very traditionalist ( not a bad thing. Since most don’t care so long as they’re not being insulted/forced into doing something or shamed for being different which is so strange to say about Texas.) Still wouldn’t be surprised if The Handler was a robot/Android or Alien.

Maybe the light thingy that was released from the jar needs some time to reach Earth? Hence why reginald arrived earlier on Earth, to plan and prepare for the babies.
