Interestingly enough, I have one attached earlobe and one detached earlobe due to being a conjoined twin (specifically a chimera). This means that I absorbed my twin in utero and my body continued to form using both my own DNA and my twin’s non-identical DNA. So I’m made with two sets of unique DNA.

I have this as well. My pinky finger's bones are so tiny it's funny. My daughter can bend her thumb's distal bit backwards 90 degrees, and when I do a joint exam on her that joint feels like it may not even be attached; I know it is, but man it's loose as hell. Her second and third toes are also grown together, skin only for 2/3 of the length.

I have a pretty severe knee hyperextension. It’s always fun seeing people’s reactions when I tell them I can bend my knees backwards and then when I actually show them, but I’ll likely have to get knee surgery in the future because I already have problems with knee pain in my early 20’s and I also have knocked knees, which my grandma just got surgery for a few years ago.

I know this wasn't supposed to be scientifically rigorous but just wanted to point out this out (and by being the first specimen to do so in this comment section, it makes me pretty rare). - Many of the traits aren't completely independent, i.e. some traits are often inherited together. So you can't calculate the probability of combination of traits by simply multiplying the probabilities of single ones together. For example, if you have shovel-shaped incisors, you have lower chances of having blond hair than randomly picked human specimen would have.

This is very true, but that’s not what this experiment is telling us. The joint hyper mobility score is indicative of being neurodivergent, as most neurodivergent people have hyper mobility in various parts of the body Other odd traits can be indicative of sex as well. Most female people will have index and ring fingers that are the same length as each other, whereas most male people will have ring fingers that are longer than their index fingers. I’m an outlier in that category myself though as I have a longer index finger, so no clue what to make of that. This experiment does allow you to see how likely it is that other people also have all these same traits as you though. It doesn’t calculate the likelihood of other people similar to you, like if you’re neurodivergent it’s not comparing you to other neurodivergent people specifically, because it’s comparing you to the entire world’s population and how rare it is for you to have the specific combination of traits you do all combined. So yes there are billions of other people who have hyper mobile joints or other odd traits similar to you, but how many of them have the same total combination of traits as you is the question. For example, my score was 0.0022. Taking that and multiplying it by the total world population (7.846 billion times 0.0022) means that their are about 17.3 million people in the world that have the same combination of traits listed in this video as I do. Sure that’s a huge number, but that’s still only 0.22 percent of the entire world population

@@artsy_dragon_creations Hmmm yeah I got 0.0003 That's a still a lot. But I wouldn't want to have a super rare and special disease, being different often can mean a mutation that isn't helpful. Still I find this exercise more fun than your neurodivergent suggestion. That's way harder to check for and more potentially controversial. I've had people ask or accuse me of being some kind of neurodivergent or another and what tests I did online I only scored high enough for depression. I'm also in a country where blue eyed blonds are pretty rare, especially in the south where I am, it's generally considered a beautiful combination so I got SOOOO much pushback for dyeing my hair black. Now I've been doing it for 10 years so most ppl think I've always been brunet like them. 😏If I mention my true color usually 1/5 ppl will complain I made a horrible mistake and ruined my hair, rest I guess keep their opinions to themselves because they have manners.

Hitchhiker's thumb is extremely common in the south. In my 25 years of life, I've only met two or three other people with straight thumbs like mine. Everyone else's thumbs look like boomerangs.

Lol, the same thing happened with my hands. I just have extremely flexible hands, I can bend all of my fingers a full 270° (from flat against my palm to a right angle back), can bend my wrists almost 270° (nearly flat forward and then a right angle back), can easily bend my thumb flat against my wrist, and can crack almost every joint in my hand (wrists twice, all three joints of every finger, the middle joint of my thumbs, and I think the base joint of my thumbs, but I’m not completely sure because I crack it by pulling and twisting my thumb, so it could be something else). I thought it was completely normal until someone noticed me fidgeting with my fingers (nervous habit, so I do it a lot) and was freaked out by it. Sorry, I ramble on too much.

They're connected up to about the last centimeter. Only 1 in 2500 people have syndactyly so if I include that: syndactyly .0004 My rarity is 0.00000015 (0.000015% or 1.5*10^-5%) Multiplied by 8 billion, that would leave only 1200 people with this combination of traits.

I had listened to an explanation that the second toe isn’t longer, but the bone in the foot that the big toe is attached to is shorter… and this can explain ankle injuries. I only have a “longer second toe” on my right foot and I have fractured, sprained, and strained my right ankle several times. I have not injured my left ankle. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think putting your leg behind your head is something that can be trained. It's not a can or cannot thing. As your flexibility improves, you become capable of it. I was able to do it and need to regain my flexibility again if I want to do it again.

HEDS and Hypermobility spectrum disorder, the ability be flexible (bending your thumb down to your wrist and so on) is actually quite common. It's just not that well known since most people don't have issues with their flexibility. This specimen has dyscalculia so might have calculated wrong, because 0.0001 seems a bit odd. Yes, I have many of the "rare" traits. Even a few not listed, like folding my tongue.

I don’t think you did your math wrong. It’s possible you’re supposed to be 0.001 not 0.0001, but not necessarily. My score is 0.0022. 5 of my traits were relatively common, though I did have most of the rarer traits, (except the super rare ones) so that can make your score really low comparatively. Especially if you have one of those super rare traits like the ear divot or the short thumb, that would really drop your score down to super rare. Based on your score, this means there are only about 784,600 other people in the entire world that have the same combination of traits as you

As a person with hypermobility, if you have this. Hit the gym daily you will thank me when your are 50+. Very high chance you get rheumatism is you dont.

@0fficialr3d if you have Hypermobility, exercise is good, but only if done correctly. A gym is only efficient if done in a way that doesn't stretch or put pressure on your joints. I've tried many types of exercise like gyms, pilates, yoga, marshal arts. None worked for long. A physiotherapist is the best option for anyone with hypermobility so we don't worsen the instability in out joints. Arthritis is a different condition and not necessary connected to hypermobility. They usually coexist but one is not the cause of the other. HEDS can often mimic arthritis but that's not rheumatism. Exercise is good for your health in general, but people with hypermobility need to be more careful with the movements they do or risk severe injury.

When i train i carefully watch my movements and make sure i dont over stretch and over bend (like enkle to butt or something) this makes the muscles thighten up and make you more stiff over time. I was able to russian squad flat on mij feet. Cant do that anymore also cant put my legs in my neck anymore. But yeah if you dont know what youre doing get a trainer that know how to help.

It's possible to have mismatched traits. I have one attached earlobe, and one unattached earlobe. I have that tendon on one arm, but not on the other arm. My grandmother has one green eye, and one brown eye. Lifeforms are complex and do not always fit easily into tidy little boxes. I grew up on a farm. On time we had a calf that was black and white (typical Holstein coloration), but all of the white areas had long hair and all of the dark areas had short hair. We also have had milk cows that had 5 or 6 teats on their udder instead of the usual 4 teats.

I also have a preauricular pit (which my mom has named my ear dimple). It's incredibly rare. I don't know about other cultures, but only 0.1-0.9% of children born in the USA have it. However, I would like to add that most people who have a preauricular pit only have one. Mine is just over my left ear. Having two is either incredibly incredibly rare or it just doesn't happen.

I can turn my tongue right over laterally. I can wiggle my ears and my scalp. My ear canals bend in different directions (very unusual, I'm told). About the thumb thing, I found out recently that my flexibility is apparently a genetic disease Ehlers Danlos or some other Macaroni Maroni. And the flexibility is the bad thing about it xD They don't know much about it but they're studying how it relates to depression, ADHD and autism so...💃

You are so right about the flexibility being bad. It's cool when you can do stupid human tricks, but after years of doing them, all those areas begin to hurt. Then you get to splint a lot of things and deal with chronic pain. And that's if your brain works right (which it may not!), and if you don't have autoimmune diseases as a bonus.

​​@@DeetotheDubsrom childhood, women are taught that having hair on their legs is bad and unacceptable through media and surrounding representations, it is treated as "disgusting" while in most cases, men are never gaslighted in this way about their body hair (there are exceptions, of course) women are duped by society into shaving. They are never given an option, because it is presented to them as something they must do. Most are immediately taught the moment their legs and bodies grow hair to shave. They are never told its OK to have hair. Shame regarding body hair is built into them by society from birth.

I also get 2% (0.02), but I can bend my thumb to touch my arm, but can't bring my feet over my head, or bend my ankle. I had to assume that all the 3 traits are equally important in the 20/80% calculation, so I put 50% for that (the aprox result of 0.2^1/3 x 0.8^2/3). BTW I never noticed people earlobe are not attached, kinda surprised me that is the most common trait, mine are attached. But I'm not the most social person so. Well, what can I say, I now know why it's called "ear lobe" 😂 mine is not a lobe at all, just skin from the ear in a straight line to my face.

I have the thumb that doesn't stop. I cut my flexor tendon and the surgeon left it like a "normal" thumb. I’m not sure if this is a rare thing (because none of my friends seem to be able to do it and seem freaked out when I do it) but I have an extremely pointy tongue? My mom affectionately called me “lizard tongue” when I was a baby. It can also extend pretty far out of my mouth. There are many many things that people say to one another “well can you do this SUSAN?” Like licking your elbow, crossing your eyes, wiggling your ears, raising your eyebrows one at a time. These are also things that you may or may not be able to do from birth. I can wiggle my ears, raise one eyebrow at a time, have double jointed thumbs, can cross my eyes, but a lot of other things also depend on flexibility, such as putting your leg over your head.

I have no clue about the math, but most of the things I can do. My prints are a mix of the spiral and the swirly loop. My thumbs go back very far and touch my wrist. I used to be able to put both legs behind my back, I’m fatter now so I’m not going to bother trying lol. I put my right thumb over when crossed. On my right foot my big toe is taller a bit. But on my left foot, they are even. I also can hyperextend my right arm n elbow behind me. I can flare my nostrils which apparently most can’t do as a friend told me recently. And I can pop out my right thumb joint. Both hands’ fingers naturally point back a bit, and when actively doing it, I can make them go back further. I also can do weird things with the blue veins on either side of my under tongue. Every time I see a dentist since I was a kid, I asked if they’ve seen it before. They always say no. But that one comes from the orphanage where I was just left in my crib. My feet normally walk “like a duck” I’ve been told. So yep. I’m quite a freak. Oh and I have 3 widows peaks. One on the front of my forehead, and one on either side of where my hair meets my ears. I can do the tongue loop. I can also make my tongue do the worm. I’m right handed, but taught myself to use both, so I’m technically ambidextrous. My hair used to be curly but my thyroid butchered that. I can snap both fingers. I can whistle inhaling and exhaling. Can you tell me what my score is? I can’t math but I’m genuinely curious what my score is. I have thick eyelashes, idk if it’s extra though. One of my weird traits is that I have one arched fingerprint, and none of my other fingerprints are the arch pattern. I used to have a coworker whose ears didn't match. One didn't fold back over at the top like a cat's ear. He said one of his ear's is like his father, and the other is like his mother. He's Italian on his fathers side and Latino on his mother's side.

I put my right thumb on the top because I think it's because I have an amputee scar on my left pinky from a crippled finger I had when I was born. This scar is very sensitive. The finger got removed because there was no point of keeping it and it had no function. But I also have a non identical twin who had the same thing on the other hand

When I was younger, I could put my thumb to my wrist and put my foot behind my head. Currently, I am still close on the thumb, but nowhere near the foot behind my head (short legs and a big belly). Now, I CAN bend JUST the top knuckle on all 8 fingers while locking the second knuckle. FYI, that is NOT good if it happens while playing volleyball, especially if it happens while you are setting the ball - it may lead to broken fingers (especially middle fingers).

I have all the traits mentioned in this video apart from being able to bend my knee joints backwards. I have Brachydactyly type D in both thumbs. I hate the term 'murders thumb' it's seen as an old outdated (and kind of offensive) term to describe people with brachydactyly. People sometimes say 'toe thumbs' (which isn't much better really) or 'club thumbs' I also have other types of brachydactyly in all of my other fingers. I've been pretty much bullied and laughed at all through school because of my nails. I also have Neurofibromatosis type 2. I've had over 50 (very minor) surgeries. I'm apparently medically rare. I also have jaw/bone problems that affected my teeth from an early age and now have 4 implants on my bottom jaw. So I have more rare traits than most, but I wish I didn't have them. They affect my health very negatively.
