Red Bull sells 7.5 billion cans every year.
That's close to one can per person in the world.
People love this stuff!
You see the Red Bull logo everywhere.
But, it doesn't even come close to Coca-Cola, which sells 1.9 billion units each day!
So, how does Red Bull pay for all this?

Just clarify the f1 side. Each f1 team builds their own car every year. So yes red bull is now getting into engines but they've been building every other part of the car for 17 years! They also own a second team thats sponsored by a high end clothing brand they own called Alpha Tauri. So its safe to say the model of "not producing anything" isn't entirely accurate.

I think you understated the success of Red Bull's F1 team - And it's worth mentioning that they actually own 2 F1 teams in Red Bull Racing, and Alpha Tauri F1 (formerly Toro Rosso - 'Red Bull' in italian). Red Bull's F1 team entered the sport in 2005. Their 2nd team, Toro Rosso, entered in 2006. In 2008, Toro Rosso got their first race win, with Sebastian Vettel as their driver. The team's third year in F1. In 2009, Sebastian got promoted to the main team in Red Bull Racing - and won again that year, for Red Bull's first win in F1, after 5 years in the sport. In 2010, Sebastian Vettel won the World Drivers' Championship (WDC) with Red Bull Racing, and led the team to their first World Constructors' Championship (WCC) This success repeated until the end of the 2013 season, by which point Red Bull had won 4 consecutive double-world championships (Drivers' + Constructors') with Sebastian Vettel taking all 4 Drivers' titles. This was almost unheard of at the time - with the exception of Ferrari's 5 consecutive double-world championships from 2000-2004 with Michael Schumacher. The major difference is that Ferrari was a 50-year old team with a long history of success in racing. Red Bull was only 6 years old when it won its first title with a 23 year old driver, and was spawned from an energy drink company. For an extended history of the team, keep reading... Red Bull's run of winning titles ended after 2013. From 2014 - 2020, every single WDC and WCC was won by Mercedes' F1 team, and 6 of those 7 WDCs went to Lewis Hamilton - only losing out to his teammate Nico Rosberg once, in 2016. It's hard to convey just how dominant Mercedes was in these 7 seasons. Red Bull's ability to compete for wins was not so good through these years, but they'd been building up momentum to challenge for another F1 title, and by the 2020 season they'd got a strong lead driver in Max Verstappen - truly a worthy successor to Sebastian Vettel. (As an aside - Max was signed to Red Bull's sister team Toro Rosso at just 17 years old, in 2015. Just over a year later, he was promoted mid-season to the main team aged 18, and won the very first race he participated in for the main team) Red Bull finished strong in 2020, winning the last race, showing similar speed as the Mercedes car. In 2021, Red Bull and Mercedes traded wins all season, mainly with Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton (the 7-time champion). Max ended up winning the Drivers' title in controversial circumstances - but nobody can say it was not deserved. He won 2 more races than Lewis did. Meanwhile Mercedes ended up winning the Constructors' title - owing to their more consistent 2nd driver, Valtteri Bottas. The significance of this is that Red Bull, led by Max Verstappen, were the first team in 8 years to beat Mercedes. The 2022 season is just 2 races in as I write this comment. Mercedes is clearly the 3rd fastest car, but once again, Red Bull appears to have built a car that is neck and neck with their new rival in Ferrari. The cars are clearly the two fastest, and they appear to be almost identical in overall speed. So far, Red bull is looking very competitive, and appears to have the ability to win both championships this year, if things don't take a bad turn. Very few teams in the history of F1 have had such extended periods of relative success, cemented with a healthy number of championships under their belt. And it all started with an energy Drink company looking to sponsor a racing driver. They'll forever be remembered as one of the greatest teams in the sport - no small achievement in any sense.

About Asia, the origin of the "energy" drink: You need to mention about how we treat Krating Daeng, Lipovitan, and their likes here. There is a reason why: - It is not marketed to everyone, we use burly working blue collar men and women in the adverisement (recently they began to follow red bull, but Japan cancelled when they eventually targeted kids) - it is sold in cough syrup bottle packaging or can with medicine themed colouring (in some Asian countries, it is classified as medicine - the companies who manufactured them are pharmaceutical companies) - caffeine is also treated with caution: as a child, I was always told it was "grown up drink" almost like alcohol, but you can start drinking earlier - It is without soda, thus the flavour is worse, it is a medicine, remember? That's why we have no problem with it: nobody drinks 10-20 RB cans a day to pass "gruelling college days" or "assignment deadline" or "cool to drink in hip loud party", and then got permanent heart problems and then the story goes to BBC or DW, and gets it banned by the government. Then people wonder why Asia has no problem with this dangerous drink. While marketing does play a part, the way we clung into our tradition and our habit also helps prevent similar abuse. Coca Cola themselves wonder why we don't drink as much sugar soda, nor buys into their "diet" ones. We have a lot of American / European graduates returning home and trying to debunk that myth about artificial sweeteners in Diet or Coke Zero being bad, and thus safe to chug it down in American quantity. Too bad, people already have this preconception, that to quench thirst, nothing is better than plain old water. The only stupid thing we do here is not making our tap water drinkable, but yes, it is more difficult to do in a tropical country, but seriously it is 21st century, we should have the techhnology to do that.

They are the most successful because they are the first ones to dedicate a team for Drivers Development Program, compared to the other teams back then who just sponsor their drivers. Their first driver graduate was Christian Klien back in 2004 I think. While McLaren, the second team with a similar program, had their first graduate in Lewis Hamilton in 2007. At that time Red Bull already has dozens of drivers and later next year graduated Sebastian Vettel to F1 in 2008

Max Verstappen, a Redbull driver, won the driver’s championship. It might seem like a silly distinction but in the sport it does matter, as the constructors championship will determine the prize money for the team as well as time in wind tunnels for future development among other perks. I think GoPro also does a similar strategy as I see them advertising a lot but not to the level of Red Bull. Always see promotional material about a cool thing done in the outdoors published by GoPro themselves but they are quickly become less popular due to a myriad of reasons. I also find it comical that Red Bull are mainly sponsoring athletes for their drink can when it is athletes that usually have the strictest of diets that they need to work with where they can't be going and chugging red bulls whenever they are told to. Luckily they haven't delved heavily into mainstream sports such as Olympic events and instead focused on the more outdoorsy type of athletes like climbing, skydiving spelunking etc. which usually aren't are regulated or competitive to get up to the top levels.

In some countries people were mixing it with alcohol and creating cocktails with it, the problem was that some combinations would cause increased heart rate and tachycardia, some people abusing it suffered heart attacks and thia naturally created a lot of backlash and helped it earn a bad reputation

Great video, just a quick correction, the “Taurine comes from Bull Sperm” rumour has been around way longer than “since 2016” I remember having that conversation when I was in school in the mid 00’s so I’d say it’s at least 10 years older than you’ve claimed there. But that’s 1 tiny suggestion in an otherwise very informative video.

Drank Red Bulls for years .. it became an addiction from 2-3 a week to 1 a day to sometimes 2 a day . Always tired and if I drank one boom up … started feeling sick decided to change up diet cut back redbull felt worse .. decided to give it up and body litterally went through withdrawals. Massive headaches slight fever .. lasted about a week .. the desire to drink them lasted over a month . Can’t go back

I occasionally drank such things in the 90s in Japan, but they were sold in little tonic bottles, nothing fun about them. When I saw they'd rebranded them as party drinks I thought it was a joke.

For the most part very accurate - one thing TC Pharmaceuticals is not producing the western version of Red Bull. They still supply the asian market with Kraeting Daeng and their version of Red Bull but the western version with the distinct rhombus design was until 2021 exclusively filled in two plants located in Austria & Switzerland which are located right next to each other on the border. The plants are run by a local juice manufacturer called "Rauch" (you may recognize their logo on the F1 cars). There is also a can manufacturing plant from Ball right next door. 2021 a new filling plant was opened in Glendale Arizona becoming the third filling location. TC Pharmaceuticals is solely focused on the local Thai market and surrounding countries.
