@@AlexRoseGames sure! I'll start with noting that all can pull from more cultures than their main, as well as pure fantasy written for them. This is going to be a bit long. Nords: Germanic People's, particularly Viking Age Scandinavians. They are also inspired by the "Barbarian" fantasy novels (Nords immunity to frost in the original games being a reference to Conan the barbarian and the like. An answer to why people in the frozen lands are almost naked) Imperials: Romans. In the East (Nibenese) they have a notable Greek influence, in the West (Colovians) they have a heavily Nordic Culture however place names indicate Slavic influence, but that's the extent of that. Breton: Medieval Western European, name itself coming from Bretony, the Celtic region of France. Inspiration is, as such, German, English (really Britain as a whole) and French, names in particular are more French. The Reachmen, after being fleshed out in Skyrim and ESO, have since gained a heavier Celtic focus. Redguards: MENA. (Middle East, North Africa.) Arabian and Berber primarily. A lot of history, however, is Japanese inspired. They used to be heavily Western European inspired as well (until and including Oblivion) but this seems to be mostly gone now. Orcs: Fantasy orcs, mostly. Motifs seem Mongolian (previously Japanese). Altmer: Fantasy elves. Bits of Japanese and possibly British/Chinese inspiration too. Dunmer: ancient Middle East, specifically Mesopotamia. Heavy Assyrian and Babylon influence, also notable Jewish inspiration. Again, Japanese influence at parts. Bosmer: I've heard suggestions of Native American influences, but I don't know for certain. They seem pretty much nature elf fantasy inspired to me, but both can be true. Khajiit: Arabian. People commonly say Gypsy influence, which I'm guessing due to Skyrims caravans, but their names and language were clearly Arabian in old games (Mohammed was a common name and called wandering warriors "Jihaat" which is clearly from "Jihad".) With the Skyrim focus on Reguards changing their names from Western European to Arabian, this might diminish that focus in Khajiit, but they can do both. Argonian: Mesoamerican. A lot of their culture seems to be made from writers imagination though, but their architecture and many of their artifacts are Aztec and such.
